Who could this be?

I thought the guy that teleports in during Marauder's cutscene in Lambda Sector looked unfamiliar, so I fired up the demo player to get a closer look.

HMMM!

Actually, I can just tell you who he is. According to the demo file he's an Olympian Guard. Judging from his facelessness and the similarity of his dress to other IDF guys, I think it looks like Neuron finally got the mass-produced Tyrant clone thing right.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

I think an entire legion of them might be protecting Tyrant for the final showdown

EDIT: By the way, if the next 4 slots give us 2 more level shift the way the latest 4 slots have, and the final fight with Tyrant come out after them, then it's possible we'll be 50 +5 for it, in which case the devs might be planning to make the Olympian Guards be only AVs - like whole mobs of AVs protecting Tyrant.

That's a pretty badass look.

That is SOOO much better than ye olde Tyrant look.

It looks sleek, imposing and has the faceless goon quality every dictator wants of super soldiers cloned from himself.

After all, if they all have your face it'd be rather creepy talking to them.

Not to mention confusing for the underlings...though handy for foiling assassination attempts.

You have completed the Assault on Cole's Tower Trial!

There are also Olympian Guards in the Free Statesman mish at the end of Maria's arc, but they look like the old Tyrant. These must be the updated look, and I bet they fight the same.

That helmet really reminds me of a Cylon.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I bet you could make something similar with Mission Architect.

Free Statesman...with proof of purchase. While supplies last.

Sorry, I just had to...

Talking of the Olympian Guard and the lava lair on the Maria Jenkins arc, I think that while Tyrant might wear that armor at first on the Trial we fight him on, he might transform in some way later on, by opening himself up completely to the power of the Well.
Like at first we might fight at the Magisterium, defeating mobs until Tyrant come sout of his tower to face us - after we beat him down, he uses a portal in the tower to retreat to his lava lair, which is linked to the Well, according to the MJ arc, and then we have to follow him there, just in time for a cutscene where he lets the Well totally take him over, transforming him into a more cosmic form.
He might also have all his Praetors with him, plus reinforcement spawns of Olympian Guards.

Hmmm, that seems awful specific to be just a random idea for the new trial.

Not really - it's just using what we've seen and read so far, plus some logic and guesswork

For example, Incarnate trial maps seem to use water as part of the map border - like the BAF is on an island, Anti-Matter's reactors are on an island, Lambda Sector has a moat around it, and the concept art for Mother Mayhem's asylum seems to show that it's either by a lake or the sea, or is also on an island - and as the Magisterium is also surrounded by a moat, contains Tyrant's tower, and is the heart of his empire, it seems like a good place to fight him.

Story-wise, we know that Tyrant is giving himself over to the Well, but visuals-wise, it might seem a slight let-down to fight Tyrant, a normal sized NPC, as the climax of the Praetorian war - having him transform into some kind of cosmic figure overflowing with the Well's power would be a more spectatcular visual climax - and the devs have already shown with the ITF that the idea of defeating an AV who then retreats and gets a cosmic buff and visual transformation before the final fight is a plotline they're not totally unaware of

The lava lair as the place for the final fight also makes for a strong visual theme, where be confront Tyrant in a setting that's closer to hell than the "paradise" he's created above ground, and has a very neat tie-in with the setting where we first encountered Tyrant all those years ago on the original MJ arc.

I doubt they'd be AVs, since the main thing about an archvillain is that it's a huge sack of HP. Even with only the incarnate powers we have now, defeating a whole mob of regular AVs with 24 players wouldn't be hard, just tedious.

Is it possible they stealth added these guys into Maria's arc? Anyone run one recently?

I was thinking they'd be more the Hopkins type of AV rather than the Reichsman kind of AV

And don't forget we did fight a bunch of AVs in that first mission of Ramiel's arc as a full incarnate and they spawned as yellows. If GG is right and we get more level shifts and powers fighting a bunch of AVs with all that power might not be anything more then fighting a bunch of 54s when we had no power.

I believe temporal clones, alternate dimensional clones, clones, etc and et al the plural would still be Statesmen. Excepting the timelines/universes in which Cole was or is female.

Explorer: 93%. Achiever: 40%. Socializer: 40%. Killer 33%.
Current Heroes and Villains (altitis holding at 50 currents)
To all the devs, past, present, (and may there be) future: /salute

Okay, like the hilarious alternate universe gender shifts of Fushionette and her boy friend in the Sutter TF, I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't see a female version of Tyrant and Marauder in one of the up-and-coming new Incarnate Trials.
