Throw me in with this one too. This has been happening with me since the new launcher was released. I've tried repairing and I've tried running as administrator (which I should already be doing...) The only way I can get the launcher to run is to completely restart my computer. Then it will run that one time, but when I go back to it a day or so later, it's the same process...

Throw me into the slot issues.

I moved a character from Freedom to Champion to help out and got this message:

"Character XXXXYYYYZZZZ is currently locked for an account order. Normally, this only lasts a few minutes, but may take much longer. If this problem persists, lease contact Customer Support at http://support.cityofheroes.com"

Had 3 free slots on Champion prior to Issue 20, used one of them for the transfer. Support has informed me I needed to redeem a slot to free the transfer...so I purchased another slot and the character STILL isn't available.
Going back and forth with support about this but not very happy about having to shell out to cover a slot that was already (allegedly) available.

I have the impression that removing your Alpha power from the slot, then re-slotting it reactivates it, but I need to check that more carefully. Except for the 5 minute cool down since the last time you were attacked or used an attack which keeps you from altering what you have slotted in your alpha. I've tried it and been given the message that changing failed because of he above reasons.

I'm with the other person that asked how a bug like this got through beta... I'd prefer that is was working and properly tested and getting it late than getting it sooner but not working.

since i20, I can only chat in broadcast and league, I also can't send a /tell, I'm on a macbook pro using the mac game client.

Someone reported that using the walk power then turning it off has the same effect as unslotting and reslotting the alpha. Have yet to test it, but makes sense in theory.

The email servers are not working, I Emailed my alts a TON of stuff and all I get is this when I try to access the items

" There are outstanding pending global email transactions. Please wait a minute and try again."

I can't e-mail myself and I'm not even getting warnings unless they are in a tab I'm not looking at. Thankfully I don't need to do the e-mail for something that is cross server, but at some point I will be and would rather like to have this issue taken care of.

Is Reactive DoT not functioning with pets considered a top issue? All other Interface procs work with pets.

ok, so i installed Windows 9 and could no longer play CoX of any form as it crashed immediately.

uninstalled Windows 9 and all is well again


anyone else had this yet?

The biggest issue I'm having with issue20 is that the Trials seem to randomly trigger random crashes (Yes, lots of randoms). You can be playing along and BAM soundloop bug (crash). Come back in, rejoin trial BAM corrupt texture bug (crash). Ok, again come back on play in some trials and then again BAM some kind of City of Heroes.exe error (crash).

Whatever you guys did with the code for the trials is...well, completely unstable. I'm not the only one it happens to either. Last night half the league on Lambda crashed. Throughout both BAF and Lambda runs miscellaneous ppl come and go due to crashes. We put a brand new system together yesterday and gave the trials a run. 2 crashes in BAF 2 crashes in Lambda all from the above mentioned issues (or something unknown). Game runs like a champ on the new system until the crashes.

Rest of the game runs fine for the most part. Seldom run into soundloop bug unless I'm doing a couple Task/Strike Forces in a row or Mothership Raids on my machine. Really hope it gets ironed out because the crashes are starting to kill the fun factor.

There is no Windows 9. Not even in Alpha form yet. No.

If you mean Internet Explorer 9, well you solved it.

I have IE 9 installed and the game runs without an issue.

I have only experienced a single crash since installing IE 9 and that only happened when my son was in game running one of the trails and I plugged the USB cord in for my phone to charge off the system and it just locked everything up.

If you read the recent dev posts, you would see that the reward table is having its weighting changed to increase the chances of getting a rare and very rare.

And as for the crashing and stuff, its either your computer or your connection. Or the server you play on. If everyone else is crashing then it will be the server, if its just you, then i'm afraid its just you, and probably something you're end.

I've never crashed or lost connection or anything on an incarnate trial, and now that the EU servers live in the same place as the NA servers, my connection has a long ways to travel

No, it's not just him. Feel free to have a look at the "Technical Issues" section, it's full of people who are experiencing all kinds of lag, lost connections, random windows opening, memory leaks and somer other nasty stuff, during Incarnate Trials and more generally since Issue 20 went live.

And while I do not agree with the wording of the post you quoted, I understand his anger, because I have the same technical issues, on US and EU servers (I can't barely remember if I ever ran a crash-free iTrial). I sent a lot of report and feedbacks on boards (lots of them on the french boards though), and so far, none of these problems have been solved yet...

It's not just him.

I've crashed my fair share of times as well, as have many that I run this thing with. It's not our systems, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with these 24 man teams and all the data that gets thrown around... I don't crash in normal non-incarnate content.

the crew I hooked up with did a MOITF afterward and had -zero- problems. We even had a running gag of "omg I clicked my powers and they fired off!"

I really would like to see some incarnate content that would not require such a large group.

I'm pretty much done with these trials, the lag is so bad I can't use powers that show as recharged.

I've missed out on rewards due to client crashes. there is no "hey wait up guys" in these trials. You hit the ground running and keep moving whether your toggles are up or not.

This is simply too frustrating to be fun.


Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

You do know the words lose their impact when you over use them right? Being upset is understandable. Throwing curse words inbetween every other word just makes your position look so weak it has to be supported with 'strong' language.

Don't fall into that trap. You have a legitimate concern so try to communicate that concern in a proffessional manner.

Where do I find the legacy launcher... my program files under the NCSoft folder only has COH and Launcher. I've click the repair button easily for 15 times in a row. One person in another thread suggested resinstalling? Is that the only solution. That would be quite annoying... and I hear this has happened often since i20?

Found the solution in another thread, right clicking and running the launcher as an admin.

Heya:

Was the source of this slot loss/gain ever tracked down? I'm having some confusion with NCSoft support on this matter, where I'm waiting for an annual anniversary slot to be awarded (I'm well past my anniversary now), but they state that I received it earlier this month.

Was the bug earlier this month related to the vet reward status being triggered earlier than it should have been? Or was it related to something on the Store side? If the latter, then I should still have a vet reward slot waiting to be awarded, right?
