Discussion: Issue 20 Top Bugs/Issues - 4/6/2011

Here's a list of the top Issue 20 issues we're currently investigating and working on a fix for. Please remember, this isn't a comprehensive list, but rather a working list of what we consider the most egregious and game affecting problems at this particular moment.

• Character Slot Issues - We've identified reports where previously unlocked character slots appear to have relocked. Additionally, some players are are reporting receiving extra slots which they have not been awarded or purchased. While we work to resolve this issue we've brought the account server offline.
• Players are being inadvertantly removed from Incarnate Trials - Players are being kicked from Lambda Sector and BAF Trials for no apparent reason. We're currently trying to reproduce the issue internally and are looking for examples of commonality. If you have feedback, please leave it here.
• Players are crashing when launching CoX via the NC Soft Launcher - This issue occurs occasionally when patching data is corrupted. We're currently investigating this issue. Players experiencing this should attempt to repair the client using the repair function in the NC Soft Launcher. If all else fails, players can use the legacy launcher to verify the files.
• NC Soft Launcher will not launch CoX for Windows XP Users who are not using SP3+. - We've identified this issue and will be correcting it in an upcoming hot fix. ETA, 4/7.
• Alpha Slot Issue in Incarnate Trials - We're currently investigating an issue where players have reported losing their Alpha Slot Boost after dying in an Incarnate Trial.
• Global Chat/Email server Crash - All NA and EU servers were taken offline yesterday, 4/5, to address a global chatserver/email crash issue. This issue has been corrected and further fixes for it will be implemented in an upcoming hot fix.
• Various Map Server Crashes
• Mac users unable to successfully launch CoX - Players using the Mac version of CoX, possibly in conjunction with an ATI Radeon GFX Card, are reporting that the client will not properly load for them. We are currently investigating this issue and welcome any and all useful information you can provide here.

First off, I'd like to say "thanks" for this post. It helps to at least know that you guys are working on things.

Secondly, I'd like to say "me too" about one of those bugs (the alpha slot not giving boosts after death). I was on my main (EI Kinetics/Rad. Blast Def.) who has the top tier rchg/healing boost and noticed during a Lambda Trial that I was only healing for 432 HP instead of my 'normal' 503.

I was looking for debuffs/etc...but...didn't see any...but that explains it. 432 is what I used to heal for before the alpha slot bonuses.

Not really related, but in your Announcement post the "Join in the discussion here" link doesn't work, it seems like it's a link to a hidden subforum because I'm told I don't have access to it.

Is this a poll for us to vote for our favorite one?

I'd like to know how bugs that crash the launcher, on both major platforms including the forced changed to the NCSoft launcher, got through Internal and External QA. Bugs that crash us, inadvertantly disband us, and remove alpha slots and character slots.

Somewhere someone had to have dropped the ball, I hope it's being looked into, this can't be that "new" that this kinda coding (Turnstile) made THIS bad of an impact? o.0

I too am having the locked slots on Triumph. When I signed on after the download it said I had new slots unlocked and I thought it might be my veteran rewards come early. But I had scrapped three characters in preperation for moving and making new ones after I 20 arrived . They are locked also, so awaiting the fix.

Not really a bug but i noticed that the queue dropdown for the incarnate trials is under "LFG" menu which im assuming means "Looking for group". Where as the "looking for group" dropdown is under the "League" menu. Is this working as intended or did somebody accidentally place them in the wrong section?

when I combined inspirations I lost them. I tried to convert blues to awakes.

Win 7 and I have to tell the NCsoft launcher via rightclick that I am The Administrator.... to get it to finish it's job.

I am missing my extra slots from victory and virtue. Also missing some unnasigned ones. Glad your working on getting them back for us.

Text font on the new UI could be "bigger"? I do like it's options though.

I adore that a tip will drop when you complete a tip mission provided your not over your count. That saves some time there. Thank you.

Haven't tried the new shiney TF's yet. Heck I haven't even done a Tin Mage yet. ;p I'll be sure to say a prayer and cross my fingers when I do.

League Leaders are getting demoted a lot too with others promoted in their place when loading into the various trials. Will test to see if locking teams has any effect.

Well I have been ave. 4-6 bug reports a day, sence 2 patches before new launcher was installed. None of them have been fixed.

Been sick so unable to play new content on live. But if anything close what is on beta, well lets just say I hope you guys have a VERY LARGE Email box.

Look forward to playing the new content hope bugs don't stop it.

On protector, I am missing 12 claimed charter slots.

The auto kicking during the trial seems to have been corrected. No problems since roughly 3Pm cst

Stupid question but what is the legacy launcher? The old coh launcher? I am able to launch the game via the old launcher however when I attempt to launch via the new launcher this is what I get.

Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\NCsoft\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe' is denied.

When I attempt to use the "Repair" option I then get this message.

Error Code: 58 (FileGroupApplicationErrorRollbackNotAttempted):
Errors occurred while applying the patch,
and a rollback was not attempted.
The product is likely in an inconsistent state and should be repaired or reinstalled.
The patch application errors are as follows:
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)

This happened after the last patch too where I had to unistall/reinstall the new launcher.
Anyone know how to fix without going through the reinstall?

Also, I have been experiencing the Alpha crash as well but only after dying during the Lambda Incarnate Trial. I have yet to try the BAF trial.

The current server maintenance is allegedly supposed to allow logging in to play the game but I am not able to log in. I keep getting a message saying the login client is not available. Am I the only one?? Am i in the wrong forum??
