I don't recall that either, though every now and again I don't have a real problem with it. After all, we are talking about a male and female, and those things are bound to happen sometimes.

It did get old though with Tennant after a while. Though I'm not entirely thrilled with the execution at times, I am glad they found a way to 'reset' things a bit as the 10th Doctor and that universe started to get bogged down a bit by its own baggage.

I'm certainly excited to see this season play out.

As Amy pointed out last season, she likes winding the Doctor up when she flirts with him since he gets all flustered. Heck, she's just flirty, even with herself. If anything Rory is someone the Doctor can throw at Amy when he doesn't want to deal with her, like in the Red Nose Special Time and Space.

What I would love to see is an episode where Rory gets some attention and see Amy get jealous.
Because it never happened, usually. There was a ban on that type of stuff from the execs for a long time that was sometimes lifted in some areas, but it was largely disallowed to a very high degree.

Oh my gosh....Canada's actually getting it on time, for a change! I'm so excited! *squees, skips off to set her DVR so she can watch it over and over*

It really was a kid's show back then - meaning no romanctic kissy-scenes, ew yuck!

These days of course, they know plenty of adults are going to or may watch it. so they toss in every possible genre they can think of to try and hook as many eyes as possible, much like how every movie has to have some action scenes, romance scenes, funny sidekick scenes and end with a big dance number based around a pop song at least 15 to 20 years old (ok, so that last one only applies to animated non-Pixar movies, but still).

I can't say I welcome it in Dr. Who and it has gotten on my nerves in some places, but on the other hand The Lodger was an obvious nod to the rom-com overlords and worked perfectly, so I'm not really gonna complain.

Rory's arc from reluctant bystander to full-fledged TARDIS-travelling companion is a slow one, but unlike Mickey, he's been growing from the beginning.

Note that in The Eleventh Hour, he noticed something was Wrong (unlike the faintly narcissistic Pond) and was trying to investigate. Later, in the otherwise awful Vampires of Venice, he nails the Doctor with a killer observation: "You know what it's dangerous about you? It's not that you make people take risks, it's that you make them want to impress you. You make it so they don't want to let you down. You have no idea how dangerous you make people to themselves when you're around." And after a little pathos in Amy's Choice (a far better death scene than Cold Blood), he's proved himself absolutely worthy of inclusion in Big Bang.

I'm looking forward where season 2 takes his character, particularly since Pond's the one who's fairly fixed in place.

Hugh Laurie or bust.

My favorite Doctor is the Doctor.

You know, the one with the time/space machine and saved all of Humanity.

In the Arena of Logic, I fight unarmed.

Agreed, and I think we'll see a lot of him in this coming series, and more growth. Hopefully, in a direction that makes him more interesting as a character, and less of a counter-example, which has been his basic role so far.

But he won't be by the time the 11th Doctor regenerates (not with House, anyway).

Excitement is building.

Man, the next few weeks can't pass fast enough, as far as TV anticipation goes.

Just remembered to look around for the Red Nose Day Special "Space" and "Time". Several minutes of solid Doctor Who comedy.

Not enough to tide me over though.... gonna have to have a Season 5 DVD marathon soon.

This is gonna be fantastic.

We've already learned how to get multiple Amy Ponds so we just keep doing that and there will be enough for everyone to have two of her.
