Ok, I was talking to a friend on Infinity, and she said the best time on Sunday would be immediately after the Rikti Mothership Raid, which starts at 6:30pm Central. Would that work?

Review of When the Words Stop, by @Clave Dark 5
Aemilia Lacera, 42 KM/Inv Brute, +1/x2 (I just soloed Twilights Sons arc at this difficulty.)
Mission 1:
Sometimes reviewing an arc is no fun, because you read a great creepy intro like this, and have to write: I think you left out a word from Ive always magical as
And components is misspelled.
The Haunted Robots are tough, given that I lack any defense or resistance to Psi. Oh well.
The dialogue and clues were well written. Theres something about your word choice that really sets up the atmosphere.
Mission 2:
pleasantly is misspelled in the send-off dialogue.
Your names for the repurposed enemies are better than the originals, I think.
Emily seems really unhinged. The bit about Valerie Gaul being in that pond sound like something out of Neil Gaiman. (recognize is misspelled in that clue)
Mission 3:
This was amazingly good. The process of elimination that led up to the semi-reveal of what happened to Emily really built up some suspense. The distractions also added some nice flavor.
Mission 4:
Did you purposely misspell recognize then?
There are a few twists in this mission, which I liked.
Overall:
Well, really the only fault I can find with this is that it needs proofreading. There are a few spelling errors, missing words, and other typos.
In terms of story, I would say its simply superb. This was a short review simply because I didnt have anything to complain about and didnt want to spoil anything.
If I list the works of fiction that I want to compare this to, I end up listing something by pretty much every one of my favorite authors. Bravo. -
I'd be willing to be the Ambassador for Infinity. I've got friends in P.E.R.C. there; I'll talk to them about scheduling.
-
Ohyeah! I'll play it as soon as I finish Twilight's Son's arc.

I've been playing on teams a lot with my MA/Nin stalker lately. This turns out to be a lot more fun than it's made out to be, so I plan to be doing it more in the future.
During one mission vs. ghouls, we were ambushed by huge numbers of ghouls dropping from the ceiling. There were so many that the tanker and brute couldn't hold them all, and our defender and corruptor ended up in trouble, and we just barely avoided a wipe.
Thing is, I may not be able to take the pounding that a brute or even a scrapper can, but I'm tougher (and much less vital to the survival of the team in a near-wipe situation) than a defender or corruptor. But I could not get the stupid ghouls to attack me: the low stalker threat level, normally very useful, had turned into a handicap.
For more experienced stalker players: does this happen often enough to make it worth dipping into the presence pool to get a taunt power? Or is there something else you can do to draw aggro or otherwise prevent a wipe? (Other than just trying to kill the things that are attacking your support) -
Thanks for the tips. Here's a revised version that I made. I'm keeping Absorb Pain, because in my experience I tend to want more for End than HP (and that will only get worse as I add + recharge), and, since I'm on a static team with a lot of melee ATs, I usually only take damage if I accidentally aggroed a second spawn while maneuvering, in which case I'm dead anyway.

So, I put this together in Mids. I don't have much experience with the AT. Did I sacrifice too much offensive capability for survivability?
My slotting for crowd control is rather strange: I turned it into a mitigation/aggro-drawing power rather than than slotting for damage. I wanted the defense bonuses from the taunt set.

Oops. Double post.
-
-
I know who River is, by the way:
Obviously River is the Doctor's *sister*.
Sorry. -
So, nothing really happened this Tuesday due to RL stuff that came up for several players.
Would anyone be interested in playing Thursday instead? -
Quote:Yes.Was it supposed to seem half-maddened and impenetrably vague? If so, mission accomplished.
My biggest worry was that the player might not realize it's supposed to be meaningless, and agonize over trying to figure it out. (Actually, it does mean something. But that has no relevance to the current story.)
-
Quote:I never thought of that.I like to take a good look at costumes and stalkers are great for that.
Quote:I think the fact Ana (as I shall call him from here on out) and the weapon dealers are aliens wasn't fully enough addressed or spelled out from the get-go; at first I thought he was just a mutant or something. I felt some sort of line like "these guys don't look like they're from around here" (or something much better worded than that) would be helpful; I don't think that was really done until the debrief, by which point it seemed like a "well duh!' moment. Maybe his bio could read something like "Ana is an Oorian gas-trawler who's not of Earth..." Something like that.
Quote:The humans in here confused me. Reading the bios, I gather they're kidnapped from Earth and pressed into the pirate service, right? I think this needs a little clarification, maybe some info from Ana somewhere. As all this is taking place inside his mind, you might have all their bios be direct quotes from Ana; I'm thinking of trying out just such a thing in a future arc. Doing so would be a good platform for the needed expository dialogue.
I like the idea of having Anathocleos narrate the bios. (Actually, I'm using that for comedic effect in another arc that I sort of have in some sort of progress.)
Quote:Quick question, are the Pirate-Blasters Bot MMs without any of the pet powers, just the rifles, or were they ARs?
Quote:This mish seemed to drag a bit, what with the level shift (fewer powers for me to whomp people with) and the larger map (which was fitting never-the-less). Seeing as how it was a flashback as well, I think it derailed the 'real', main storyline about the weapon dealers, it threw the pacing off. Not a complete wreck by any means though, as long as you make sure we get back to it solidly later.
Quote:Mission 3: Davis (that was his name, right?) says something about wanting "to know where Ana is". Well, they could just get him a hotel room somewhere, maybe plunk him down in front of a TV at the station, no need to send him along with me to keep an eye on him. The fact he does come along itself is fine, I just think the given line of reasoning needs to be rethought.
Quote:Mission 4: The intro drops me into the middle of a classic WTH moment, it was a nicely unexpected twist that really hooked me into finding out just what was going on.
Quote:Ah-ha, I fight my own Nightmare Projection! And what a handsome devil he is too! His spoken lines are nicely mysterious, but he still died instantly (again, we stalkers are good as such things). Looking back on those lines though, I'm not sure who he meant by 'she'... :P
Quote:Fighting and defeating the Nightmare Projection of Ana I dinged 39th, yay me! Reading his bio, I get the biggest twist of the story here (if I followed this rightly) - he was actually the villain all along and he killed Jackson's family, not the other way round, right?
Quote:In fact, the final debrief really sort of just stopped dead rather than wrapping things up (unless you're planning a direct sequel). A story needs a good wrap up to clear away any stray threads ("Later we caught Clave and he's doing a nickel in the Zig."), hidden-but-now-revealed secrets explained ("So, he came back to the bank because that lucky penny was the source of his power all along."), what happened to the fairy princes after she was rescued ("She married the dwarfs."), etc.
Thanks a lot for the review. -
Thanks for the review! I'll revise the arc based on your advice.
I really wasn't happy with mission 2 either. I was forced to change the events that I had planned for Anathocleos' background to make a playable mission. (The original story had Jackson acting alone. Much more believable). I think the only reason that I included that mission was because I knew my RP group would likely be playing the arc and they would like to see his backstory. I'll probably take it out. Or do you think I should move it later, so that it is part of the nightmare sequence?
Other than that, I need to
- change Cleos to an ally instead of an escort in mission 3
- add more dialogue
- use a different map from Oranbega in mission 4
- add a souvenir
- change some of the shades to something other than dark blast
Did I miss anything? What did you think of the dream dialogue? Too weird, or did it work? -
Reviewed Bubbawheat's Dev's Choice arc, 'Ctrl + Alt + Reset' here.
-
So I played 'Ctrl + Alt + Reset", as I've been wanting to for a while anyway.
A well-done sci-fi story about a time loop. The first three missions are basically the same thing, with slightly different objectives. This could get boring, but the author wisely chose a small map, so it doesn't take that long. The fourth mission has a few surprises. I saw one of them coming, but that's not a bad thing - being completely blindsided by a twist is overrated.
Pros (why got got a DC): It's a well-done time travel story. What else can you ask for? (Look at the last 5 Hugo-winning short films).
Cons: Ok, there is a bit more you can ask for: character development. Going back to the 4 episodes I alluded to above (one of the 5 is not a time-travel story), part of what makes them great is that the audience is emotionally invested in the characters. True, there's not that much room for that in the current arc. So this isn't really something wrong with the arc as just something that this particular story lacks. It's still quite good.
Conclusion: Very nice concept, and very good implementation of a moderately complex sci-fi plot given the limited tools available in the mission creator. Lacks emotional weight, but didn't really try for it, so that's not a big deal. -
Ok, now I have access to Mids, so I put this together. It focuses on regeneration, with a decent amount of typed defense. I didn't try to close /invuln's psi hole. Should I?
Any other ways this could be improved?

This is my first attempt at a controller build. I was slotting for recharge (just barely got perma-hasten), with some recovery and defense. I intend to be teaming (though you could probably guess that given the /empathy) so I don't expect to need too much defense.
Does anyone see any ways I could improve this? I'm not committed to
the Soul epic --- Psionic or Primal Forces would also work with my concept.
Thanks in advance.

The arc is up. #491402 Everything Falls Apart. It's still in revision, so it's up to y'all if you want to play it now (in which case I'd really like feedback) or wait till I have it perfect. It's intended to be played solo.
