Do you remember the first time?
First toon was an Electric/Fire blaster named Psychic Girl. I picked it because I liked the SSPTEW sound it made when you selected "Blaster" lol. Someone said "Why would name a blaster 'Psychic Girl'". That bugged me so I recreated her as a mind/kin troller...LOVED it.
Have taken 4 or 5 mind/kin trollers to 50. Awesome combo.
Global: @Fire Beam
My first toon, is my current main: Knight'Hawk. I don't focus on best builds, combos and all that; I had an idea for a hero in mind, and a MA/SR Scrapper fit the bill.
Freedom
Blueside: Knight'Hawk, lvl 50, Scrapper
Yellowside: Dark'Falcon (Loyalist), lvl 20, Blaster

My first was Eva Destruction. As soon as I saw that Assault Rifle was an option I wanted one, and I picked /Fire because....well because I read the Blaster AT description and it sounded like an AT that was all about damage, and /Fire was the only one that was all damage powers. So I thought it would be the best one. Heh.
I'm kinda glad though, it made me learn the game in ways a sturdier AT never would have. After that, everything else was easy mode. I still play her, mostly for badges. I still even have her original costume, supersoaker and all, even though I rarely wear it.

My first one was Goblin Queen back in beta. Illusion/Radiation controller and then I soon after, during launch I believe, rerolled her as Illusion/Kinetics. I did that for a good long while until CoV and rerolled her as a Plant/Psi Dom.
Tangent:
The funny thing is that I identify her as my original and my main but I hardly ever play her. There hasn't been a powerset that really defines her yet. For me the perfect sets for Goblin Queen is either an Illusion/Dark Dominator or an Illusion/Whip Assault Dominator.
Alternatively, being able to customize Demons to at least change them to a green skin color or making them into goblins via a costume editor somehow.. that would probably be the ideal power for her. With Dark, Pain or Storm as a secondary. So yeah, I'll be waiting a good while before I really get her to where she should be at.

My first was Obscure Blade the Broadsword/Regen. Blade because of the sword, Obscure because I was just that, being new to the game. I didn't play him too much, being hit with altitis from the start; he's still only in his low-30s after all this time. His original costume wasn't much to write home about; I was one of those people who took a while to realize that un-clicking the little "X" lets you use more than two colors, so he started out as a grey and purple guy from head to toe.

Dark Melee/Regen, been sitting at lvl50 for years at this point.
Branching Paragon Police Department Epic Archetype, please!
My first character was my Ice/Ice Blaster. He was my first 50 too. I've since moved on to a Fire/Fire blaster who became my first IO'd toon and my current main/strongest character/first incarnate/Main TFer and everything. I just can't get past AoE carnage generally

Main Hero: Inferno Sparky - Fire/Fire Blaster
Main Villain: Kerry Astrid - Fire/Cold Corruptor
Like a lot of others, I started out with a Scrapper. Mine was a Claws/Invuln Scrapper named... Patteroast. He was my main for quite a while, but he got passed somewhere in the 30s, and eventually I stopped having a single main anyway. He's still one of my 50s, and one of more treasured characters.
My favorite archetype ended up being Defenders, although I'm still a huge fan of Scrappers, as well as Tankers, Stalkers, and Dominators. And all the ATs to at least some extent, really.
Proud member of Everyday Heroes (Infinity Heroes), Dream Stalkers (Infinity Villains), Devil Never Cry (Freedom Heroes), Enclave of EVIL (Pinnacle Villains), Phobia (Infinity Villains), Les Enfant Terribles (Freedom Villains), Gravy Train (Virtue Heroes), and more!
Full, detailed character list
I think my very first was named Jolly Rodger, a pirate character. A scrapper I think but I don't remember the sets. Played him very little. Not sure if I got him out of Atlas to King's Row.
The next one was a female MA/SR scrapper. I also quickly rolled a D3, my namesake an Ice/Ice Tanker, an Eng/Eng blaster, a FF/Grav controller and an Kin/Ill controller.
This was during the week or two before Issue 2.

First was an Ice/Ice Blaster. Was so close to quitting the game out of boredom.
Then I made a Scrapper. Still here almost seven years later, and that AT is still my favorite.
Playstation 3 - XBox 360 - Wii - PSP

Samuel_Tow: Your avatar is... I think I like it
First was a Elec/Elec blaster. Nothing special about her, superhero in spandex and a cape.
Didn't quite like her, always felt something was missing. I also duoed alot with a fire/fire blaster, who was a bit of an ***hole, so it sorta made me more bored of it.
Second was a claws/regen scrapper, and my first catgirl! And i was sold, still here after 7 tears I still have her, but i don't play her anymore. But she paved the way for my enjoyment!
My preference is still Blasters and Scrappers (and brutes and dommes with CoV).
My first was Kiken, an MA/SR Scrapper, from way back in Beta. Who I brought with me when I switched from the US to the EU servers. He rarely gets played these days (although I have rerolled him on Union as KM/WP) but he had a huge effect on my time CoH.
Mostly in that I tend to play all my alts as Scrappers regardless of AT
However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator
My first character was a fire/devices blaster. This was back in the days before ED, so devices was actually pretty well-liked back then. He never made it to 50 after ED came along. Then I quit for a couple years.
When I came back, my first character was a dark/dark tank, and he was also my first 50.
My tastes haven't really changed a lot. I still like to mostly play damage dealers (scrappers, brutes, blasters, etc.) and fire blast is still my favorite powerset of all time.
Healix was my first toon. (Ill/troller) I have had her for almost 7 years and we have been through a lot together lol. This was my very first mmporg and I was SO green...I didn't even know about slotting enhancements till Healix was level 14!
Here is a picture of her and the first SG she ever joined in 2004
Many things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done.
Nightwish Rad / Rad Defender, during beta, I got to level 16 or so would probably be my first.
I recreated her when the game went live, but she didn't got far. Alts / trying powersets etc got in the way. My first 'high level' was a Storm / Psi Defender, to level 34 or 35, but the increased appearence of mezzing enemies wasn't very fun.
Both don't exist anymore.
My first character I got to 50 was Claw/Regen scrapper. She still exists on Victory, but only gets out to get the anniversary badges, otherwise, she's retired.
Very first was a Rad/Psi defender named Stacie, once I realized that Defenders werent for me I made a Claw/regen scrapper named difoj and still play him almost exclusively to this day, over 10 thousand hours and going strong
Science Invulnerability/SS Tank. Got to 10. That was my main at release.
On that server, no, but remade him about 6 months back. 30 something on Guardian.
I made several characters my first few days I had the game and spread them across several servers. The first character I made I believe was a spine/regen that didn't last too long. My next was a fire/fire blaster, then an Ill/kin controller both got decent play. I also rolled a FF/Psi defender: Mental Maden and ended up leveling her up to 6 over the next few days. It was around level 6 that I realized that I'd spelled 'maiden' wrong (yeah, yeah, I know) , but couldn't even fathom rerolling and doing those 6 levels all over again. (Too be a noob again )
I started leveling her up on Guardian as well as an Earth/Rad on Pinnacle. I had friends on both servers at that point, but decided to pick one so I could give a serious push to 50. I liked both characters about equally, so I decided to pick which server I wanted to be my "home". Guardian won and after leveling Mental up I rerolled the Earth/Rad on Guardian (slightly altered) and Mental later became my first 50 and the Earth/Rad my 2nd.

My very first character was Comrade Crush, a SS/Invuln Tanker. Directly based on the custom character I'd made in Freedom Force who could pretty much solo the entire game (High strength + high speed = running around at mach 2 throwing cars at people. Obviously that didn't quite carry over to CoH that well.) I figured out within about five levels that the combo wasn't for me. I think my next few characters, in no particular order, were a Fire/Devices Blaster (I didn't know it was super-powerful back then, and I deleted him before Smoke Grenade) and a Broadsword/Invuln Scrapper. ... these are all three combos that I wouldn't even touch today. I don't think I have a single character from my first year still around. My first 50 was a Storm/Elec Defender, but I deleted him over the pre-CoV lack of slots, so my oldest extant character is Kaelinia, my Katana/DA Scrapper I made way later.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
My first toon was a triple fire blaster over on Guardian. She was my favorite for quite a while. After about three years we left that server and made our home elsewhere. I used to always play blasters, I could barely get into anything else. I *forced* myself to play a tank to 32 just to prove I could "do it." I hated playing tanks...tedious...boring...
These days I barely play blasters, tanks and controllers having taken over most of my play time. I have several tanks I enjoy immensely, like my lvl 50 elec/fire/mu. My up and coming elec/elec at 44, and my dark/fire and fire/fire, both in the late 30's. I don't even know how long its been since I've played a blaster!
And my new "main" is my plant/rad/fire controller. She is literally something else! I used to never play my 50's. Once they hit that number then they were shelved. I play Autumn almost every day because she is just so fun.

My Characters
First character was my forum namesake, a Fire/SS Tank, back in Issue 3.
He got sidelined for a while (and was on the verge of deletion at one point thanks to getting caught between two sorcerers - didn't have Burn until after it was nerfed, and then only had it on test) while my .. fourth? character, an elec/elec Blaster, played and RP'd up to 50.
Kept him around, got him to 50 a while later, glad I never deleted him.
Now? 276 alts according to CIT. Have vs Play... I have some of everything. I play a fair number of Controllers, Doms and, yes, tanks, now that I've done the "One of every AT to 50" bit. Working on "One of each powerset" now - if I just count "finished" (32/38,) I've nearly finished Control sets (need to get Elec up) and Masterminds (not hard to do.)
Way-back-when (and I do mean "way back"... like, i1 a-week-after-the-game-went-live way back-) I made two toons on FCM's account. One was a defender based on an old tabletop Shadowrun character of mine, and the other was a cat-boy scrap (Or as close as I could get to one, anyway, since males didn't have cat ears as an option in those days-). I don't think either of them ever made it past about level 3. MMOs were just not my thing at the time.
Their names were Brightfires and Mister Mistofolees.
Humorously, many years later now, versions of both of those characters are sitting on my account. Bright is still a Rad defender, and eventually made it to 50. The current Meff is an Illusion/Kin controller in the 20's. With cat ears.
@Brightfires - @Talisander
That chick what plays the bird-things...
Mad Hatter Man was my first toon, AR/Energy blaster made when i joined my first 50, was my badge toon till i just gave up on badges (Too many one time only keep your sub active badges carrot on stick badges). Took me 6 to 9 months to hit 50, back when debt was actually a problem and AR wasnt COMPLETELY terrible.
He was name nerfed 2 years later because some how ncsoft thinks mad hatter is copy written by disney? even though technically its a term describing people who sell hats who have mercurey poisoning and that Louis Carroll character is now in open domain.
I switched his name to MHM for a while till they allowed free server transfers and i got his name changed to Hatter.
Once in a while i log on to him hes now a villain and im working on doing story arcs i never have done red side with him, i plan on doing incarnate stuff with him eventually but AR is such a pain to play.
My fav at is and forever will be blasters and my fav secondary is /energy, i have had or still have every blaster combination with the energy secondary to 50.
My first is Maurya - energy/electric/electric blaster, and my first 50 (after about 3 years of play). She may be going on an Apex run this afternoon.
I re-rolled her after getting about 12 levels on my husband's account (had to have my own accout, of course). That same day, I also rolled about 4 other characters (one of each AT) across several servers.
Maurya started on Liberty, then moved to Infinity when my 2-person SG on that server needed a "sugar momma" to craft for the lowbies. I tend to regard either Liberty or Infinity as my "home" server for that reason.
Edited to add - Maurya, did indeed run Apex this afternoon - still loads of fun to play her!
Altoholic - but a Blaster at Heart!

first character was my ma/sr scrapper, still love it. it got a lot better with subsequent buffs, he was my second incarnate(first was violet tendencies, my first vill, also got some nice buffs in the dom secondary upgrade) still love scrappers, they are self sufficient , dont get chain mezzed(my main annoyance with defenders) and look good kicking butt. but i have grown to appreciate difference both within ats and outside of them.
