When building new characters for the Animal Pack, I was surprised to find that both 'Echidna' and 'Electric Echidna' were both taken.

I eventually went with the name 'Cyberparrot'. Yes, altitis is a humiliating disease.

In the past I've been lucky enough to grab names like 'Sponge', 'Catdroid', 'Shriekling', and 'Spillover'. I'm still holding 'Imager' and 'Gnawer' for when I have concepts to fit them, but maybe I should let them go...

I'm assuming that those are characters on live servers and you're not allowed to tell us their names. Although I agree with one of the above posters, having a <bleep> word for a hero name'd be funny as hell. I'd include my name in my battle-cry: The <bleep> has come for you, (target)!

On topic. I've been surprised by two names over the course of play. Back in Issue 4 era, I snagged Bengal Tigress, and although I didn't like her as a Katana Scrapper, or any other kind, either, I held on to her until GR came out. For some reason I had a vision of her as a DP, clear enough I was able to do a drawing of her. That was around January '10. She was my second 50, as I figured she deserved it in a sense, being - technically - my oldest alt. Put every other toon on hold for about a month to do it, too - many of whom were really close to 50 themselves.

The other name I was surprised at - shocked is a better word - was KingSlayer. I typed that into name-search over a year ago fully expecting it to be unavailable. I'm glad I checked, since it was. Blew me away. Similar names such as Widowmaker weren't, so why that one was available, I'm not sure. I'm not going to question my luck, either.

Even against certain death, it matters not how or if we fight, only that we do.

Most amusing complement I've ever been paid on an outfit, from @Ukase regarding my Blue Eyed She-Devil Anson Maddocs "Fallen Angel" homage:

Not too long ago, on Virtue, I managed to grab "Stalking".

I was totally surprised to get the name Zox'Oculox!
I mean, really!! On Virtue, too!

What? Seriously...
Okay, maybe that's not a common name on Earth...

I just recently got (on Victory) two names I just typed in for giggles, never dreaming they'd be available:

Sport
Mindlink

I'm very happy with my luck on these.

I started to use the Virtue server during the free server transfer period and I was surprised to get some of the names I wanted. I thought for sure a name like Viking Bot would be taken, but it was available.

Good stuff
Well, the fact that Judgment is misspelled might have something to do with being able to get the name . . .
Actually, both Judgement and Judgment are correct spellings.

Judgement or Judgment, you decide which one you want to use.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

When GR came out, I was pleased to be able to grab Shield of Praetoria on Victory for my FotM KM/SD brute.

Not long before the 4th year anniversary of the game I decided to create an Ice/Ice Dom. I was having trouble coming up with a name I liked for him and thought "yeah right" when I hit "Enter Rogue Isles" with the name Cryonics in the character creator. I stared in stunned amazement as the game just started loading.

I will never ever delete that character. I consider getting a name that perfect on a (at the time) 4 year old game to be incredibly good luck.

On Virtue:

Brainstem
Rattletrap
Doctor Toxic
Pittsburgh Pirate
Pittsburgh Penguin
Pittsburgh Panther

Sadly, Pittsburgh by itself was not available, but I got it on Guardian, so I'm happy.

Fabulass was an original creation. I thought of it entirely on my own. But it's been my experience that what I think of on my own has usually been done before in some shape or fashion.

Just recently, I managed to get MechaniGal on Virtue, fully expecting it to be taken.

Further back, I got things like Carnivorose, Pure Wrath, and Moebius Operandi.

I meant it more like noone would ever want the names I use. I didn't mean it that way at all.
Looked through all my names and.. not a single one would make sense for anyone but me :x

Not too recent but, within the last year, I snagged Homily, Liturgy and Minaret on Virtue. All (in my opinion) delightfully evocative classic-sounding hero names. Speaking of religious themed names, I picked up Convent as well.

A nice surprise was getting Pronghorn. Only because I had found it free once and posted it to the free names thread on the Virtue forum and someone said they took it. Months later, I had a concept for it, tried it and it was free again. He just hit level 50.

I not generally a fan of pun names but I'll admit that I recently took Wendy City for a Chicago-themed scrapper.

Can't believe that Genepool Lifeguard wasn't taken, but it's mine now! Mine all mine! There's also my fire/storm corruptor, Helen Erth. Yes it's misspelled but it's slightly less obvious to its true meaning. And lastly got Charlie Foxtrot last night.
