On Infinity :

Eclair (Invulnerability/Martial Arts) - Scrapper - From an anime "Kiddy Grade". If you are not familiar with anime, you would know by the name of a sweet treat. I was suprised it was'nt taken.

Canine (Energy/Energy) - Brute - This is the correct spelling according to the dictionary. I was suprised when I got it. "K-9" Was taken.

I was really surprised when I got the name Rationalizer on Freedom a few weeks ago.

I was surprised 5 years ago when I made my first tion and got away with calling him "Fu Ken Eh" playing him off as a Canadian swordsman. After that I was mad when my electricity shooting robot could not be named Shockwave or even Shockblast. However, I was more than pleased and chuckled when "Shockacon" was available and the occasional hero would stop and type lyrics to chaka khan songs to me.

Those are pretty impressive, Rhyme in particular. But don't be surprised if you awaken one day to find Underdog genericed. Some of us older folks grew up with that cartoon... Makes me wonder if that's why that one was available.

For me, the only names I've recently taken have been decent but were fourth and fifth tries to get something that worked for a few new alts:
Zero Spot
Midnight Verdict
Viridian Mask
Petrolmaniac

spread over triumph and virtue

Edit: oh and from a few years back when the tarot cards power was first introduced, was very happy to get Midnight Gambler who started as a petless dual pistols thugs MM only to be rerolled as a pistols/dark corrupter. He now also sports the tarot cards combat aura around his fists. VERY pleased with that one.

In game, type:

/get_global_name name

In most cases, this will return the global name of the person who owns the name, and you can then send them a global /tell. Of course, there's no guarantee that they'll respond, and if their account is no longer active, you'll never know the difference.

If the name was taken, and the person canceled their account, before the global name system was implemented, then the name won't have a global name associated with it. In this case, /get_global_name won't return anything. It won't matter though, because you obviously aren't going to get a response from someone whose account has been inactive for the last 6+ years anyways.

I got Arachnophilia a couple days on Union. I was so suprised it wasn't available I checked, double-checked, and triple-checked that I hadn't spelled it incorrectly, and then rolled the character even though the concept was only half-baked in my head. Which is kinda rare for me.

On a related note, the fleas aura can make a half-decent jumping spider infestation. I was pleased.

Just snagged Star of India on Virtue, which really surprised me.

(Sometimes, I wish there could be a Dev thumbs up button for quality posts, because you pretty much nailed it.) -- Ghost Falcon

On Triumph, just got "Skywright" as a rename for my pulp era rocketeer type (he was originally called "Captain Tomorrow" on Protector which I lost when I transferred him a year ago to Triumph as "Captain Skylark" which just didn't feel right.) "Skywright," though a bit ad hoc, feels good and has a nice retro zeppliner ring to it IMO.

Also just got "Solar Imperium" for a new hero-bound praetorian brute. For a long time I've wanted to make a character that would feel at home in the Shadow Shard, something out of the cosmic weirdness occupied by the likes of Galactus, Firestar and Silver Surfer. Between his name, costume, stature and powers, "Solar Imperium" might finally be that character.

Though I was not entirely surprised to find these names available, I was definitely pleased.

I was flabbergasted to get "Duriel" on Pinnacle. How that wasn't taken is beyond me, but it's taken now

I was surprised to get "Attack" in Victory. Surely a term so obvious would have been taken, but it wasn't. It's free again now, though, since I deleted the character to make room for my literal cow girl.

I was only slightly surprised to get Lurian on Pinnacle. I guess not many people played Advent Rising.
