  1. Good deal! I already have Rebirth constructed and am just waiting to get the last third of the experience needed for it. Is Musculature a good pick for an alpha then? I also have both Reactive and Degenerative for Interface and Ion for Judgement.
  2. So finally coming back around to fixing my night widow, I'm playing with some different ideas. Without trying to post any builds, is it viable to build a night widow without dipping into powers outside of the widow pools? I have been getting into the incarnate content and now working on getting destiny opened to start on hybrid. I like being rather offensive-minded and will be prone to wanting too many attacks. Can I still take only the widow defensive powers and still build up enough def and resist without taking weave and tough, or at least not burn through slots on them? Work is getting in the would playing with Mids enough to figure it out and thought I would ask the community.

I've seen many builds but not feeling a consensus on if dart burst or poison dart is the better ranged attack. I feel psychic scream can be skipped but what about mental blast as a second ranged attack?

Not really looking for builds as much as thoughts on if this is a doable route or if it really does need support via fighting and leadership pools, or just from inherent fitness.

Appreciate it, fellow soldiers of Arachnos!
  3. Honbrid, wow, that would be nice if it did. I will give it a try next time I play some incarnate stuff.
  4. Codewalker, I stay casual and keep it on the lowest setting. Okay, actually I've been too lazy to change it. It is more just a matter of getting the time to run through stuff. Getting the interface and judgment slots too so long timewise because of family and work. Still, I'm feeling slightly impatient about going through DA a bazillion times for lore and destiny... FBWMing again, I suppose.
  5. Solo-only incarnate player here... After finally trudging thru the DA arcs to get the interface and judgment slots opened, I've finally quit fussing/b****ing/whining/moaning (or FBWMing as I'm accused of doing in the moment) over having to start from zero in xp to open up the lore and destiny slots. I just don't have the time usually and definitely not at once to sit thru the trials. Tis a shame as the toon (a night widow) has been a blast for the incarnate stuff. I know I have a T3 in my Alpha, maybe 4... got my T1s for Destiny and Lore ready <grumbles>... only T1 for Interface and T2 for Judgment...
  6. I second Kitsune on this one; Home Premium will be fine. Professional really is aimed at businesses that require a 32-bit environment for any programs that are not compatible on the 64-bit front. For home users, it really is a waste. The 16GB memory limit probably would not be a real problem for the forseeable future, unless you plan on running some serious graphics or scientific kind of stuff. Even then, 16 should be fine. Even at $20 you have to consider not really the XP Mode, but the memory thing being a bigger issue for the future. It would be up to you and your needs.

For what it is worth, I run the enterprise edition on my laptop (hooray for bring-home work computers!) and I played around with XP mode in case a client had questions. Otherwise, I've not even used the BitLocker in favor of another drive encryption program work requires, or anything else that doesn't come on Home Premium.
  7. This is the current one and I like the archetype, just not the current slotting. The tion seems to hold its own so far but I know it is very lacking so I decided it needed to be overhauled. I like playing it more on the attack first and kill often theory within in a respectable amount of inf spent on it. I only get to play a little bit at a time as it is. Miss really made me cringe looking at the build so I figured it was time to look for help.
  8. As such, I am presenting another Night Widow build for people to pick apart. This is as best as I could remember of it since I'm posting from work. I've ended up really like the archetype and have finally started getting into really taking on the incarnate stuff. This toon seems to flow a lot better for me when I do get to play. Thoughts? Critiques? Some "WTF are you slotting like this for" comments?

  9. I know this is probably obscure but I've been hoping for it for years and maybe a dev will happen to see this and make it happen, but there are a couple of pieces used for the mouth region on full helmets I would LOVE to see finally ported over to half helmets...

I wish I could remember what they are called. They actually really look like mecha face guards, one an awful lot like a Gundam face plate. one of them may have been called vanguard. The other one had a little robot goatee thing sticking out at the bottom of it. Does anyone know which ones I mean? I can't load the game up at work (stupid server block!) to pull pics.
  10. My work laptop does the same thing in underground instances, mostly in Praetorian underground-themed missions. Intel HD3000. Now I know what to try and correct it, at least.
  11. In a total fit of creativity, I named mine Tarantulas... I know, I know... not original, but at least I used the costume creator and gave him a look like Tarantulas from the old Beast Wars TV show...
  12. I have a laptop from work that runs a Phenom II N620 with a Radeon HD 4250 mobility chip in it. Though I haven't tried it in PvP, I have run it in Paragon City, The Rogue Isles, and Praetoria and am pleasantly surprised that the game runs better on this machine than the Core 2 Duo with a GeForce 9600Gt chip at home. Praetoria does tend to give it fits sometimes on framerate, but the other two realms work out pretty well. Some of the higher end features are turned on, but I don't go Ultra Mode on it really...

    Vet Temp Powers

Here's a follow-up on that I am wondering now. I've made one new toon since i21 launched and grabbed things like the sands of mu, blackwand and nemesis staff power that the vet badges used to grant. If I go and make another toon, does that toon now have those options to grab the items as well, or are those options now gone?

    Evil Robots...

I require a Beam Rifle evil 'bot toon... I'm on a evil alternate version kick of some of my hero toons and decided to make an evil version of my first full-time hero bot, an electric/energy blaster named Shockacon. Yes, he is every robot and he feels for you (hush on the electric blast jokes; he still made 50 years ago with it).

So I'm going Beam Rifle for sure and am undecided between a BR/mental blaster or a BR/time corruptor. Anyone tried them out so far and can tell me their thoughts on the playstyles? I've tried the corruptor one so far and have enjoyed him, so mostly I am wondering about damage output between the two. I mostly solo because of family-time constraints.

Thanks ahead of time for any input!
  15. I was surprised 5 years ago when I made my first tion and got away with calling him "Fu Ken Eh" playing him off as a Canadian swordsman. After that I was mad when my electricity shooting robot could not be named Shockwave or even Shockblast. However, I was more than pleased and chuckled when "Shockacon" was available and the occasional hero would stop and type lyrics to chaka khan songs to me.
  16. When they first announced the VEATs coming out I admit that I actually squatted on the name "Tarantulas" in order to make a toon as an homage to the same named character from the 90s Beast Wars TV series... ended up making a pretty decent homage, I think... wish I had a picture to post of him.

    KM/Elec

Good to know, Lobster. I suppose I will stick with it for now then because if nothing else, the robo-loyalist 'bot look he sports is rather suave and debonair. Now if only patience holds virtuous and keeps me playing the toon 'til the later half of the leveling process.

    KM/Elec

Has anyone tried a KinMelee/Elec Armor toon and has some input on how it plays PvE-wise? I have started playing one and was hoping just to hear some thoughts so I might know what to expect and plan for down the road for general heroism/villainy with this toon.
  19. So what does this mean for crossfire configs then? Or did I miss something where it was already there but no one spoke of it as some pink elephant of a stalker who manages to miss every assassin's upgrade from pathetic system specs?

    Updater Error...

I've had the same issue. However, I'm at work and don't have access to my current HiJack and CoHhelper stats. At the risk of sounding stupid, can I just be lazy and try running the CoH_NA_setup.exe file and run with them bulls without having to uninstall the whole thing first in an attempt to repair the updater?
  21. I would be happy just to see a couple of the mouth pieces on the full helmet options show up under half helmet options, like the vanguard one and anouther that I can't remember its name but it looked like the mouthpieces you see on the faces of those gundam mecha.

    New cpu and mb

I'm glad I saw this thread because it got me wondering if there is any noticeable difference anyone has noticed running this game on an Intel chip versus an AMD chip.
  23. the current desktop at home is old... your athlon makes me laugh at the inherent newness compared to mine... a Pentium 4 2.4... sporting a Radeon 9500 Pro. The game has become too much for the GPU to handle at this point.

I would love to get a 5850 but I believe I will stick with the 5770 unless a find an hellacious deal for the 5850. My monitor at home is only a 20-inch at 1600x900, hence the leaning toward a 5770 as being more than enough.

Mobo-wise I was thinking either the 890GX or 890FX. I have no desire for an IGP but keeping cost down, even a few bucks, is always nice around my household. I've never rolled with an AMD chip before so there is a certain allure to giving one a whirl after a lifetime of intel chips (sans the time of the almighty c64. I still miss it.). Now if only I can find win7 on a good deal somewhere...
  24. So is there any general consensus on how well a phenom II x4 955 coupled with a radeon 5770 would handle this game now? I'm probably gonna just dropkick the old computer I've been using and thought this would be a good enough economical (no i7 for now at least) choice to last awhile and play this game. The mobo (probably an 890), RAM, PSU, all that I will work out later. For now, I'm curious if this is a better than acceptable combo to build a new system around.
  25. Using 9.3 for the ATI drivers now. Uninstalled the old ones. Rebooted into safe mode. Canceled Xp installing its own drivers. Ran DriverSweeper twice (to make sure). Rebooted. Cancelled XP installing its own drivers again during normal Windows bootup. After that, I installed only the 9.3 display drivers, no CCC.

It happens after you click the two buttons after the updater screen... When the little blue splash bar that pops up saying "loading" before you get the normal all heroes or all villains splash screen. As soon as that small bar starts popping up it drops out.
