Issue 19 Teaser: Sli Mentioned

In the recent Issue 19 Teaser, someone mentions the game as Sli Capable, and as long as Ive known, it has not been. Did I miss something?

Around the 5:25-5:40 mark. Someone mentions Sli Working.

I just want to make sure this is not some sort of misread on their part.

I've been running the game on sli since running the game on sli since....well you get it. It's always been capable.

Actually, it hasn't. Unless you forced the game into sli, which can cause many problems in itself, you have not been running the game in Sli. This I know. Ive asked questions about sli before.

hmm, perhaps it defaults to just one when I load up CoX. That's weird, I could have sworn it uses both, since my loud-a** fans are heard when toggles go up. I should run some tests to make sure I guess.

From what I understand, in the past the game didn't actually support SLI mode.

It would run, but it wouldn't really be in SLI mode and you wouldn't be getting the benefits of both cards.

I know there have been some persistant rumors that The Television (I think) has been testing various things to get real SLI mode working.

It could be that it's finally ready and being included in I19, but I don't think I've seen anything official about it yet.

If I had to make a definative statement, I'd say "eventually - but until it's officially announced, assume it's just another rumor"

But what I am talking about is in the video link I posted. One of the dev's (or community leaders) states that it has been included in the game allready. Was this a mistake on their part, or did I miss something?

I'm positive Ultra Mode did not have Sli support. It was around the time I found out the CoH was not Multi-gpu supported. I was hoping for someone from who was at the panel (Dev or audience member, or otherwise) who was there and can tell me about it. It was said. I would just like to known more about what was said about it. It was only mentioned briefly, in the time frame I mentioned above in the link. Check the OP and click the link. I know for a fact that within the last month Sli was not supported.

They did a test of it during issue 17 closed beta(Or maybe 16, don't quite remember) using the -slifbos 1 flag on the updater, which definitely worked, but I have no idea whether that made it to the live version or not.

David Nakayama says at 05:33: "We've also just added a support for Nvidia SLI, which means you can run two video cards at once, and (multiply?) frame rates."

I'm not sure what he says exactly, I keep hearing "multiply". But yeah, it seems SLI will be working soon so my GTX295 should be happy.

for those of us running at a fraction of our machines capability, being hobbled by inferior graphics card configs involving a single card that costs less than 300.

quad sli - yes pls. hope this is true.

so... sli not being supported seemed to be a core engine limitation thing back in the day, asking about it the devs wouldn't even really respond. So this is fantastic.

I wonder if the capability became possible with the ultra revamp or if they're still at work on the graphics engine at that kind of level.

So what does this mean for crossfire configs then? Or did I miss something where it was already there but no one spoke of it as some pink elephant of a stalker who manages to miss every assassin's upgrade from pathetic system specs?

Edit: Wondering, how will Sli be activated? Automatically, or will their need to be a target command added to the shortcut? I assume we will find out with the Issue 19 Patch Notes. Just curious.

I got an ATI Sapphire Hd 4650 1GB... Will I benefit of this?

SLI is the Nvidia dual/connected video cards (can actually go up to four connected cards, I think...)

The ATI equivalent is "Crossfire" - and thus the questions asking if Crossfire will also be enabled.

Either way, you need to have multiple video cards for this to affect you.

Nice, just upgraded my build to SLI. Had some beta drivers kinda trying to fake it, but it'll be nice that it's now supported. Looking forward to it.

I *had* an SLI configuration a few years back when it first came out. Was WAY too much trouble at the time, and nothing supported it. So, I said screw it and went with a single, powerhouse of a card. (at the time, a GTX250, 1 gig, kind of dated now i guess)

Are things different now? Easier to get running, better supported? What is the benefit over a single, powerful GPU? As is, my CoH runs at about mid level utral mode. Most options on, and at mid to high quality. I turn bloom and depth of field off because i don't like how they look. I run a constent 60 FPS and the games pretty as get out. So i'm not in any hurry to upgrade, but, will prolly eventually, in a few months, and am considering my options. (new games on the horzian i want to meet the max req's for. (DCO, TOR, ect)

Will this be supported on the Mac Client? The new MacBook Pro's have two cards.

The MBP, while having two video devices, does not run both at the same time, so SLI isn't possible at the hardware level. Unless Apple fixed this on the more recent (read last 3 month) releases.

Also, it seems SLI isn't even supported in OSx, also, unless thats been resolved recently... So it's not so much, CoX not supporting OSx SLI, but Apple dropping the ball.
