I just started work, I'm about to start renting a place, but you will get every CENT I HAVE if this happens, I will eat ramen for the rest of my life if I have to.

Quote:All this does is convert the image, and zip up the file structure, and the image your provided. If you need help installing the screen there is the help link on the page, but I'll paste it here anyway:Yes it supplied me with a link to DL it
So how do I do it with the program? Cos I want the coh badges etc on the main screen.
Quote:1) Unzip the file you just downloaded to a known location (ex. your Desktop). It should give you a folder named "data"
2) On Windows: Open the folder where City of Heroes is located on your hard drive (typically under "C:\Program Files\NCSoft\City of Heroes").
On Mac: Right-click the City of Heroes application and select "Show Package Contents". Open the "Contents", then "Resources", then "transgaming", then "c_drive", then either "coh" or "Program Files" and then "coh".
3) If you DO NOT already have a "data" folder, copy the folder you unzipped to this location.
4) If you DO have a "data" folder, just copy the "CREATION" folder location under "data\texture_library\GUI" from the folder you unzipped to the corresponding location in you City of Heroes installation. -
I replaced the auto download with a link to the download, is that what worked, or did it automatically prompt for the download?

I've tested all 4 regions in the drop down, and within about 10 seconds of hitting the "Save Login Screen" button I've gotten the download. The only thing I can think of is something blocking jQuery from refreshing the hidden IFrame.
I've tested on IE 9, Chrome 18, Firefox 12, Safari 5.1.5, Opera 11, all of them prompt for the download. Like I said, it does take upto 10 seconds for the download prompt to come up, as it takes awhile to convert the image. -
Just tried it in Safari, and Firefox 12, and both browsers downloaded the login screen with no issues.

You can always use the status page I made a while back when the official page was broken way more then it was working. http://sgspaces.net/server_status/

FF 11/Chrome 18/IE 9, everything in the menu expands properly, and all links in the various categories work properly.

Quote:This. All of this.Imagine if back when BABs started working on Power Customization it had been announced.
And then nothing released for a year. People would have been complaining for every single day for that entire year, demanding to know why it wasn't already released (and not caring for the reason, because they just want it nao).
Or... what if 3 months into the project, after announcing they would work on it... he discovered that the engine had far too many assumptions that such a thing would never occur, that to actually implement PC it would have taken many, many man years of effort to rewrite the necessary code for it to even be possible, making it a totally infeasible project?
Imagine the vitriol being spewed forth on the boards when it was announced that PC was being abandoned. People would claim we were lied to (even if it was never promised- details like that rarely actually matter), and it would simply be bad PR.
The first scenario was what happened with Staff Fighting... every single announcement had people asking where it was. Every single ustream. Every single discussion with a dev. And many of those "asking" were really "demanding to know why we didn't already have it". It's not good to have an angry playerbase.
Competition is always a factor. There's at least two other super hero MMOs out there (both of which used pre-existing brands), and I think it's safe to say a large percentage of the player base would be willing to play non-comicbook MMOs. Paragon definitely has to worry about other MMOs trying to steal their thunder (they might not have to worry about the 600 lb gorilla paying any attention to them, but that gorilla is hardly the only thing out there). -
Well, CoH has always been an OpenGL game, so they didn't have to convert from DirectX to OGL. As for why they did it, who knows, but glad they did.

From the AION FaceBook page:Aion
Beginning at 12 p.m. PDT (2 p.m. CDT / 3 p.m. EDT), the NC Launcher will not prompt players to install Pando Media Booster in order to download Aion: Ascension™. Players can now install and update the game directly through the NC Launcher. If you haven't tried Aion: Ascension, now's the perfect time to play--Truly Free™! -
NeoSplasher Right now it only changes the login screen (somthing that CoHSplasher can't do anymore) but I'll be adding to it soon(tm).
-
Well until I23 releases The launcher still launches the game using the set locale.

I've also seen issues with "Anti Keylogger" programs, If I remember correctly, comcast has a "free" Antivirus that includes one, as does McAfee. These work by scrambling the key codes sent to programs, and while chat might work, everything else will be borked. So yeah, HiJackThis, and CoH Helper please.

Awesome to hear, I'm just sad I had to drop to DXT compression on the files... It just looks bad
32bit output was MUCH better, and worked fine before I22ish...
-
I just released 0.2.1 on the exe, and included the same fix on the website, try to generate a login screen, and see if you get the crash please.
-
-
Odd, I coulda swore I had that fixed... Which means this is also broken on the web version too :/ *sigh*
Edit: The Program has been updated to 0.1.9 you'll now see a Region dropdown, the program will try to guess your locale, but you can change it if it detects incorrectly.
2nd Edit: Err oops... 0.2.0 will be out soon with corrected names for the login screens :/ *sigh*
3rd Edit: 0.2.0 is out, with corrected texture names.
4th Edit: :/ wow 0.2.1 is out, with a fix to some CoH Crash issues. -
Some people have issues crashing with the Login swapped, since I got this issue fixed on my NeoSplasher exe, and applied the same fix here I haven't crashed. I know the problem was mip maps on the created DDS output, but I've since disabled them. And yes, the login screen is about 4 MB no matter the input size, DDS rawks.. right? :/

Quote:Well, I also made a program that does the job automatically for windows http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...&postcount=179Something that might be useful to folks here:
Neo Shadowdream has whipped up a webpage that automates the process of making these. It is very much a work in progress, but it works!

It doesn't add a logo. It's still heavy in development, right now it just gives you what it shows you. As for now taking a 1024x1024 full image, that's because the login screen is a 1024x768 image (even though the output image IS 1024x1024, the game only shows 1024x768). I've set the crop region to be a 1.33333:1 ratio (4:3) so that you don't get any scrunching/stretching by doing a 1:1 (square) selection.
The reset button does only reset the crop region, I'll add a option to delete the current image, and go back to the upload field. And I'll add instructions somewhere too. -
Quote:It shouldn't... I must admit I can't boot my OSx86 install, but doesn't mac merge folders, instead of overwriting them? One warning about the above instructions: If you have Vidiotmaps installed, part 2 of step 2 will delete it! Instead, open the data folder you unzipped, and copy the contents of it into the existing data folder in your coh folder.
Edit: Wow, I guess not way to fail OSx.... -
Hello all,
I've created a website (Very ugly ATM, but I don't do webdesign, I do code), that will allow Windows, and Mac users to generate Custom Login Screens for CoH!
http://webapps.sgspaces.net/cohstuff/click.php?id=6
Upload a image, crop it, and it will spit out a zip file with your new login screen.
1. Right-click the City of Heroes application and select "Show Package Contents".
2. Open the Contents, then Resources, then transgaming, then c_drive, then either "coh" or "Program Files" and then "coh".
Unzip the file from the site, and drag the "data" folder into the folder you just opened. Now launch CoH, and you should see your new Login Screen!
Windows users can just navigate to their CoH install (C:\Program Files\NCSoft\City of Heroes or C:\Program Files(x86)\NCSoft\City of Heroes) by default, and drag the data folder from the zip into that directory! -
