Effect of Issue 20?

What will be the effect of Issue 20 on the usefulness of particular ATs and powersets on PVE teams?

What feature of I20 are you specifically thinking will change anything?

I don't see it changing things much. The Incarnate raids / trials / whatever they're calling them may have certain ATs / power sets that work well or that don't work but I don't expect them to be "X powerset is required to win" fights. And anyway, nothing in the rest of the game will really change other than the addition of another Incarnate slot which appears to be a long recharge nuke (based on rumors at least) rather than something that actually affects general gameplay. So really I don't see it making any more difference than adding a couple of new TFs does.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

The Scavenger Hunt: 187076
The Instant Lair Delivery Service: 206636

Here's my predictions:

1. Blasters will be overshadowed almost completely by Controllers, or indeed any powerset capable of making tapioca pudding, thanks to the requirements of the Incarnate Chef trial.

2. Likewise in that same trial, Plant doms and controllers will be rendered useless due to the curiously specific Salad Shooter attachment.

3. Scranklastfendruptrollers will be the only multipurpose builds capable of handling the requirements of the Philby the Wonder Squid trial, because they're the only name Philby will be unable to pronounce so that he chokes on his tongue and dies.

4. No one will ever love you.

5. In a note completely unrelated to point #2, cucumber sandwiches are being served in Pocket D.

Sonny, Cucumber sandwiches are the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT: a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky, I love that.

Real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes, the dead rising from the grave, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, MASS HYSTERIA!

Whew. At least there isn't any doom.

Here's my predictions for i20

The two new workout emotes and one new running emote will change everything you know about ERP.

The new String Bind system will make Duel Blades and Atlas Park dance-offs easier and more exciting than ever.

With Skirts getting ported to male characters, i will never look up again.

The changes to Illusion are guaranteed to uncork a poop storm on the controller forums. Can't say I'm excited about them myself.

The first glimpse of the Moonbase Theta Trial :happy clap:

New sonic auras will keep me from ever turning my speakers on in Atlas ever again.

The new "mega-sword" costume options will ensure a rash of Cloud and Pyramid Head wannabes. Already camping the name "Ponzi Head" on Freedom.

Stay Gold, Paragon. Stay Gold.

When I20 goes live, humanity will make contact with aliens, and together you'll build a cool spaceship and be made a intergalactic secret agent in pursuit of a rogue agent who wants to bring back a ancient alien race of killer lobster spaceship robots from beyond the galaxy who will eat everyone. You'll be trained by an ancient master of mystical space powers and given a laser sword to fight this rogue agent who is later revealed to be your father and also your sister. Even if you're a robot or a time traveller who became his own father due to timey whimey ball stuff.

From there, Earth will be destroyed by the robots and you'll spend the next several story arcs running away from the killer robots on the only ship left with the remains of humanity, until you get shot through a wormhole to a distant part of the universe and end up on a living ship full of Escaped Prisoners from the Zig. They're not happy with you either. But that's the end of the arc until i21.

Current Published Arcs
#1 "Too Drunk to be Alcoholic" Arc #48942
#2 "To Slay Sleeping Dragons" Arc #111486
#3 "Stop Calling Me"

Issue 20 specific effects will be... uh, can someone point me to someplace where there's a list of what is actually in Issue 20?

The sneak peek showcased some of the new stuff that's coming, but considering Issue 20 isn't officially into beta on the test server yet i rather doubt we've seen everything that's coming in the sneak peek. So at this time the effect of Issue 20 is to inspire rampant speculation about Issue 20 without even knowing everything that will be in Issue 20.

Sort of like, again, issues 0 through 19.5.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

Clearly nobody else in this thread got it, but I just wanted to say that I appreciated your reference, at least.

The twinkie is a LIE.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

This Twinkie represents the normal amount of DOOM associated with an issue release. Based on I20's DOOMiness, it would be a Twinkie... thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.

That's a big twinkie. (A description I have to remember to use elsewhere.)

Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
