to OP, just to point out, Pain Domination was the red side version of empathy, or replacement for theme reasons..... seeing as how they wouldn't port empathy to redside, why would the whole new set they created to replace it be ported over to blue?

this goes along with people requesting dark miasma as a control set.....

i'm all for proliferating every powerset to every APPROPRIATE archetype, but neither of the above make that cut....

Pain Domination and Empathy both operate very differently, and are not parallels in any sense. Both sets should be ported to the archetypes of the other side and this nonsense about Pain Domination being "red-side Empathy" need to be dismissed.

I think Dominators really need a natural attack set. One could probably be made with existing powers such as a mix of martial arts, shuriken attacks, and maybe caltrops.

Not parallels in any sense? Please, 6 of the 9 powers in the two sets have virtually identical usages, with some tweaks for Pain to make them more offense-friendly. Said powers even occupy the same tier spots in the set.

They feel a little different to play, but anyone teaming with them will get extremely similar benefits. You're deluding yourself if you think they're not meant to be mirrors.


Issue 16 made me feel like this.

No. Scrappers get Ninjas. Swing a ninja around to hit people, swing a ninja around with his blade out to cut people, throw a ninja, throw a ninja throwing shurikens, do a double-ninja spin for a PBAOE...

The animation-intensive part is the ninja armor. You think DA is bad at hiding your costume? Try showing off with a bunch of ninjas clinging to you. Each armor tier just adds more ninjas.

There have been several rounds of powerset proliferation, so I doubt that they're going to give up on it. It's like giving people new powersets after all, only easier.

I'd love to see Ice on another melee AT.. Not terribly keen on stalkers, though, so I'll have to hope for scrappers.

Brutes probably won't happen, given -recharge and fury don't interact awesomely.

Of course, some of these things will require some careful tweaking.

For instance, Dark Blast may have issues being ported to blasters, thanks to the Soul Mastery power choices.

Ice Melee, taken to a more offensive AT, should really manage to come up with another actual ATTACK at some point. It's kind of tool heavy at present.

That's probably why it was noted a while back that they've already gotten most of the "low hanging fruit" for powerset proliferation.

I think that not only do we need more powerset proliferation and costume proliferation, we also need a powerset pass to smack about some of the really crappy powers. Cottage rule, damn you!

Still, there's way's around that.

1: Give Ice Manipulation's Frozen Aura the damage component that Icy Melee's Frozen Aura has.
2: Will someone please go over the Mastermind primary attack powers? Way too much end for nowt, Demon Summoning tends to have the main, useful secondary effects in -Res.
3: Kick Dual Pistols about a little, and ponder on the pointless secondary 'utilities'.

And so forth.

I find power prolifiration fairly unnecessary now due to being able to take any AT to either side.

I'd rather it be put on the back burner.

I chuckle at the thought of reading the complaints about fury generation with spines. No, really, I want to see it and enjoy Brutes having been denied ice sets due to the alleged effects on fury and then release spines first. The irony of it is so delicious the thought alone leaves a pleasant aftertaste.

In reality it'll likely be entirely reworked before or when it is transferred to brutes, if ever, but I will still dream my dreams...

Give Brutes Spines. After the fury changes, I don't think there's any reason not to. As for it affecting fury generation, say hi to Dark Armor.

If people want to have an evil illusion controller, they can do this. If people want to have an evil illusion dominator, not so much. I understand your point, but the archetypes that proliferation may apply to aren't the same, so there is still an incentive in my eyes to proliferate powersets.

My picks-

Blasters:
Dark Blast, Dark Manipulation seems the most logical. Dark Manip could be pretty easily cobbled from the other existing Dark sets. Move Dark Pit out of Dark Blast and into the manipulation set, sub in Aim. Since Nightfall is in the Blaster Soul PPP, perhaps replace it with Dark Obliteration in the set (OR swap the PPP Nightfall for DarkO, though that's unlikely at this point). All else fails a new Cone/AoE could be devised for the set.

Brutes:
Ice Melee, Ice Armor blah blah blah bad for fury generation. Ya know what? So was Dark Armor and it's been a Brute set for years. Let the person playing it decide if they want to play the set on the AT. If need be mention in the set description that it may not be the best for Fury generation.

Controllers:
Traps, Poison Poison can work well with Plant Control for theme, and I would immediately roll a Grav/Traps for the lulz of Trip mines and Wormhole.

Corruptors:
Forcefield, Poison, Psychic Blasts Preferably Defender Psi blast. Arguably FF would break the pattern of Corruptor support sets having debuffs, but really I think FF is offensive enough to fit (if you actually use the full set/majority of the powers instead of just taking the buffs and skipping the rest).

Defenders:
Fire Blast, Thermal Radiation Matching themes are always popular.

Dominators:
Illusion Control (feh, IMO), Dark Assault Dark Assault is easily cobbled from existing Dark sets. While I think Illusion would be underperforming/poor on Doms, just like with Ice for Brutes I've come to the stance of "let the player decide." I would prefer Dark Control but that's more of a NEW set than proliferation, particularly since I'd prefer for them NOT to cannibalize Dark Miasma, so that it can one day make it to Controllers (tweaked as it may be).

Masterminds:
Sonic Resonance, Cold Domination Sonic more than any other set seems Ally dependent, so it seems logical to give it to the AT that always has an ally. (Literally half the set CANNOT be used without an ally/pet.) Similar thought for Cold, though to a lesser extent.

Scrappers:
Energy Aura, ??? Scrappers aren't my cup of tea, so I'm none to sold on any sets.

Stalkers:
Invulnerability, ??? Inv seems like about the last set that could be ported to Stalkers that doesn't have some weird thematic oddness to me... but then said oddness already exists for some sets, so I dunno.

Tankers:
Energy Aura, Broadsword EA will get there eventually, and Broadsword fits nicely with WM and BA.

If Dark is going to be proliferated, then it's time to do it right and give it to every set category and AT. This means a Dark Control which is more controlly that Dark Miasma, which means *new* powers, and not just proliferated ones.

While proliferation is easy, the hard stuff should still get done. Besides, the Devs acknowledged that they picked the low hanging fruit. From here on out, it gets more difficult, but shouldn't be avoided.

But of course, my take on Power Proliferation is: "Get in line behind power customization proliferation to the power pools!"

My Power Picks:

Scrappers: Super Strength, I used to want EM but i kindof have a lv 35 EM/WP Brute on hero side so I'm content now.

Controllers: Dark Miasma I dont care if it's practiaclly a soft control set already.

Blasters: Dark Blast

Masterminds: I would actually love to see Illusion Control reworked as a MM set, seems like it would work out better for MM's than Dominators.

Dominators: Dark Assault, I honestly have no idea why they havent done this yet, seems like it should have been out with CoV's launch.

Brutes: Claws, Broadsword, Katana, Battle Axe, and even though I don't personally like the set, why would spines affect Fury generation? it seems like with Quills the set would be a monster.


50Soulsunder: DM/Regen Scrapper
50Limitshift: EM/WP Brute
Victoria Nox: Dark/Dark Dominator
And about 5 others that change constantly...

Firey Aura for Stalker. Drop Blazing aura to get hide, drop Temperature protection and put in Blinding Smoke, which would work like Smoke Flash. Keep burn though, but use the old version that made enemies flee.

For the primary, the obvious choice is Super Strength. Drop Hand Clap for "Assassin's Back Handed Slap", move Rage to level 32, Foot stomp at 26, Knock-out blow at 18.
