It's been 6 years and I still...

On the other hand, I almost never carry Awakens. They are a total waste of space, preventing me from carrying something that will keep me alive. They get deleted immediately upon dropping, unless I'm on a team where there's a person who's constantly getting themselves killed. That is, unless I have the resurrection day job power, which I make sure to get on my support characters.
If I do get killed, it's usually because I failed to use my inspirations in time. Which means I've got a lot of them still, which means I can combine something to make an Awaken as needed.
Finally, as often as not your killers are still standing over you and using an Awaken is not really an option. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off the hospital we go.
Put my single-target hold in the 2nd space in my power tray. My fingers know exactly where to go to fire it.
Hum the music from Blyde Square when I'm walking around.
Always focus on "Spanky's Boardwalk" whenever I zone in to Talos Island.
Never consciously made a FotM. My first character, shortly after launch, was an Ill/Rad, but that was just because I thought it sounded nifty.
Still play and love my Ill/Rad.
Make almost exclusively Magic-oriented characters. That has only changed with Praetoria, as there are no magic-based enemies, and therefore no magic enhancements being dropped.
(Why are some people against making Science origin characters because of the Vahz?)
Play almost exclusively controllers, or characters that have some mezzing in their toolkit. (Warshade, Dark)
Have never made a SG base or done any decorating, nor ever use any of my base salvage for crafting back when that was possible. Is there anything I can do now with all this junk?
Jazra -- Level 50 Illusion/Radiation Controller
Swayvill -- Level 50 Plant/Psi Dominator
Droshalla -- Level 50 Warshade
Latro Dectus -- Level 50 Fortunata
Starseeds -- Level 50 Elec/Storm controller
...make at least one costume on each character that has large robot gloves. Popeye arms FTW!!
...use "/bind shift+g say Gratz!" no matter how low a level a character was or how fast they levelled due to double xp. It's my Pavlov reflex.
...do a traditional leap off the Atlas globe with no travel powers or armors on. Oh, and I still feel my heart rate go up a little when I do it.
@Rylas
Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.
Inspirations are organized in the tray based on color and size, with offensive to the left, defensive in the middle, and healing / awakens to the right. Larger Inspirations go at the top, so as to not accidentally use it. And for some reason, I would rather die then use a large Inspiration that may have saved my life. They tend to get saved for "that next big battle, which will be worse then this", even though a death now is just as bad as a death later. Only later I'll still have the Inspirations!
Inspirations are my one true OCD experience in this game. |
O.o
Edit: And, after reading the whole thread see that I am in good company. Nice to know I'm not the only crazy one out there.
-Sprint (or any of its variations) must be on 6. This either remains sprint as I level, or get swapped out for something else that has faster horizontal movement (siphon speed, super speed, etc)
-A toggle macro must be made in the event of a character with more then 1 toggle. This macro sits in my tray on either 5, 9, or 8.
-Aid self must be on 7
-Hasten is bound to G, V, or H
-Melee tier 9 is always bound to H. (Total focus, headsplitter, etc)
Also, it's been 6 years and I STILL don't use IOs. I think I'm going to have to break that habit with my new addiction to the market, however.
I have a few habits after 6 years, too. Like others, I arrange my Insp tray, but with Left to Right columns with Red, Yellow, Green, Purple, and an Awaken with a Break free to the Right. I eat Oranges as soon as I get them.
I don't use respecs except for Freespecs. I earn the other Respecs and hoard them. I don't use my Vetspecs. My oldest characters have all three earned Respecs, all the Vetspecs and usually don't use the Freespec until a short time before a new one comes out. I think the only time I have ever used a Vetspec was on a character I was about to delete so that I could either pull out some enhancements I wanted to save or cash in the enhancements for Influence.
And when I do a Freespec, I usually plan out the character pretty carefully. That way, I don't have to use a Respec to fix it. The wonderful folks at CoHTitan came out with Titan Sentinel, making respecs easier.
I still get lost in cave maps.
I set up all my characters with a standard set of binds and a standard layout of my power icons, making it easier to change toons. Thank goodness for the old CityBinder program.
I take my hero characters who hit 50 to Atlas to do the final level up. (I still wish there was some kind of ceremony, as a cut scene or a special mission or something.)
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I do this exact thing myself. First row is healing, second is endurance, third is defense, fourth is damage fifth is 1 accuracy, 1 break free and 1 rez. I am super OCD about organizing it to the point it has gotten be defeated on nearly all of my characters on a fairly regular basis.
Another OCD thing I do is to make sure I never have more than 1 of each type of uncommon piece of salvage at a time. After playing a game since beta you develop some pretty difficult habits to break... Synapse |

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!
If I became a red name, I would be all "and what would you mere mortals like to entertain me with today, mu hu ha ha ha!" ~Arcanaville
Since 2004,
... haven't done a Shadow Shard TF (never even been invited)
... haven't successfully completed a Villain Respec trial
... haven't ever done a Hamidon raid
... haven't got the Task Force Commander or Archmage badges on any character
... haven't got a Hero or Villain with all the bank save/rob badges
... haven't ever had a purple recipe drop despite multiple 50s
And I'm OCD about my insps too, based on the days when Blasters were so fragile and debt wasn't capped: 1 column green, 2 columns purple, next whatever the character never has any of, like blues, the last column is Awaken/BF/Blue/Green (in that order) so I can just hit F5 repeatedly and be back in the fight.
Ideally, the tank will die precisely as everyone else starts fighting, allowing aggro to be spread evenly among the blaster. -seebs, "How to Suck at CoH/CoV" Guide
Since I started in July 2004...
... never hit 300 or more badges on any toon
... never done a Shadow Shard TF
... never done a Hamidon raid
... never got the Task Force Commander badge
... hate getting my toons to level 50; cuz if I can't earn XP, I'd rather not play 'em; most sit in the 40s
... have a terrible case of Altitus
... love getting the 'ding'
Signed up for another year of my favorite and only MMO!

After six years, I still create the LARGEST female ever, no matter what concept I create for her. She's got to be a gagillion feet tall, small waist, and long legs.
Without fail. AND... I still giggle whenever I read some dialogue I thought was cute. WW |
It's been 6 years and I still occasionally run to Hollows for that delivery, still rearrange my trays "Just so" (Tray 1 attacks, Tray 2 Buffs/Debuffs/Shields, Tray 3 Accolades, Tray 4 temps/vet powers).
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!
168760: A Death in the Gish. 3 missions, 1-14. Easy to solo.
Infinity Villains
Champion, Pinnacle, Virtue Heroes
I sell all my large inspirations and play the market (people keep GIVING ME MONEY I can't stop!). I have more INF than I have any use for on multiple toons on multiple servers.
And I keep hording more.
I have 3 solo bases on different servers stuffed with 5 of every Rare salvage (and as much as I can fit of everything else) and 2 tables filled with good Enancement sets ranging up to purples.
And still I keep hording more.
I wanted to change a character from villain to hero so for the first time I had to SPEND my merits. /em cry I got some great stuff including a Numinas which all went into the tables in case I ever need them LOL.
And still I keep hording more.
Fortunately I don't have a problem because I usually stick to villains. Overwelming greed and not learning are only a problem if you are a hero. (if villains learned from their mistakes the kill rate of heros in comics would be much higher lol)
----------------------------
You can't please everyone, so lets concentrate on me.
I still start all my new heroes in Galaxy City, cause no one else seems to.
I still always take primary/secondary power sets that have synergy, (fire/fire, ice/ice, rad/rad, etc...)
I still try to take all powers in the primary/secondary power sets.
I still sell all my salvage for 1 influence.
I still read the forums, yet hardly ever post.
I tried to get my friend, also a self-described OCDer, and who works high up for Regence (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) in Washington state, to officially change the name of it from "OCD" to "OCO", because it's not about DISorder, it's all about ORDER.
She's still working on it. --NT |

Ah, picking on the devs never gets old. Six years from now, I hope to be torturing developers who weren't even out of grade school when this game launched. One day Synapse' son will be working at Paragon Studios and saying "paw, was Arcana this much of a **** when you were a developer?" and he'll be saying "son, you don't know the half of it: in my day Arcana could still type fast and see out of both eyes: those were the days."

...have the exact same binds for all characters:
- F = Travel Power Toggle (alternates between selected Sprint Power and Travel Power)
- Shift+F = Shutdown all Travel Toggles
- T = Activate Defense Toggles
- Shift+T = Shutdown all Defense Toggles
- Y = Activate Offense Toggles
- Shift+Y = Shutdown all Offense Toggles
- G (and sometimes H) = Self or Team Heal power; if none, use Heal inspiration
- V (and sometimes B) = Aim and/or Build-Up Powers or equivalent; if none, then use a Damage Inspiration; if MM, then give Damage inspiration to best pet
- Q = Target specific enemy using "TargetName" or "TargetCustomNear" based on whatever I'm looking for at the moment
...haven't logged into the character from the screenshot in my signature. Or maybe I should rephrase that to "It's been 11 years and I still haven't logged into the character from the screenshot in my signature"
...hesitate to use the largest tier inspirations, they "might come in handy".
...haven't rolled a FoTM. ...create way too few costumes on my characters. ...happily paid for another year. |
I hang on to medium & large insps like they're somehow earning me interest.
Similarly, when soloing my Doms I tend to save Domination "for the next fight, you know, just in case." -Gate |
And you should set your dom on auto. It's Ctrl+clicking on the power you want to auto. It'll automatically activate every time it can.
Edit: And I never use my temps. I mean I got a gazillion of them.
Its been 6 years, and I have only now just seen The Incredibles....
Almost 2 years and still...
-Havent finished a Shard TF, tried it once, took a long while. I avoided the rest like the plague.
-Look for belts in the lower body parts.
-Hate Epic ATs(im starting to get fond of VEATS though)
-If the character is softcapped, Inspirations are stocked with Oranges and Greens, if the character is not softcapped, purples all the way and one column of blues.
