It's been 6 years and I still...

It's been six years, and I'm still trying to level 3 of the first 5 characters I ever created and played past level 10. It's my goal this year to finish them.

Organica: My first ever character. Created as a katana/dark armor scrapper, leveled to 17, promptly deleted and rerolled as a katana/regen scrapper. This was back when katana had the broadsword animations, and regen made you a god. I got all the way to level 36, but after weeks of street hunting in Brickstown I stopped playing her. Later moved her to Virtue, and this November she finally hit 50! Yay!

Jalia: My first 50, a fire/axe tank, leveled before burn was changed. I've moved her to Virtue and then Freedom, changing her name both times... I still don't like playing her that much.

Mouse Police: I have two level 50 Mouse Police characters on Virtue and Victory, but the very original Mouse Police was an invul/energy melee tank that I deleted at 20 and rebuilt as a dark melee/invul scrapper. (I didn't like the lack of damage the tank had -- strangely enough one of my favorite 50's today is an invul/energy melee tank). She was 27 before I stopped playing her. Later I moved her to Justice and she is up to level 44 I think.

Jalia Ice: An ice/ice blaster, got her to 26, never liked the name, but I liked ice blasting well enough. Eventually I moved this toon to Freedom and remade her as the Mouse Police of that server. I got her to 43, but she's been stuck there a while.

Shinobu: My Winter Lord baby! This was a fire/kin created in June 2004 long before they were in vogue. I went from about 10 to almost 30 on Winter Lords, then played up to 32 so I could get my imps. Right after that, I lost interest in the character. I later moved her to Virtue, had to change the name slightly ("Shinobu Dragonfire", bleh), and then decided I still wasn't big on playing a fire/kin, so she sat for 3 more years. These past two weeks I've revamped and respec'd the character yet again and I've been having more fun with her; she's now up to 37. I think she needs a better name though.

I still talk to my team during big fights. After all the times it's gotten me killed, you think I would learn to shut up, but some things never change!

play as the first toon I created. Rarely will I be seen playing an alt; (though from time to time I will). Now that I can freely go between Good and Evil, I find little reason to play any other's I made.

.... I still have not bothered getting past lvl 9 with my Preatorian. Not because I do not find it new and interesting; I just want to run those missions with my main guy.

I still have a minor phobia of making a hero-side Science based character thanks to the Vhazilok.

I remade one of my original characters twice, trying to get past the 10s or so where you got way too many Vhazilok missions.

Eventually I made that Invulnerability Tank a mutant and got to 50.

Still think Vahz are a bit broken for low levels.

Still here, even after all this time!

After almost four years, I still:

* forget to write down my powers and slots before a respec.
* have never installed Mids.
* have never played a Brute or a Tank past lvl 5.
* forget that just because I've mapped a zone on one character doesn't mean I've done it on all of them.
* set my inspiration tray the same way (greens, blues, red/yellow, orange/purples, wakes/breaks, small to large going from bottom to top)
* land my character Agent Tavarisch by Posi in Steel Canyon, sigh for a moment, then take off again every time she flies through the zone.

Also, I still:

  • haven't done a single shard TF, STF, or CoP.
  • haven't gotten a blaster, defender, corruptor, stalker, tanker, or kheld to 50.
  • haven't got my oldest(?) alt (bs/regen) to 50 (41).
  • haven't tried pvp.
  • miss street sweeping.
  • couldn't hit the inf cap, even if I combined 80+ alts of inf.
  • am amused as I recall how I tried to make two separate ff/elec defenders into blasters (one in beta, one right after launch).
  • avoid missions in Oranbega like the Plague.
  • haven't figured out exactly why cut and paste doesn't work for me (something to do with my Dvorak kb layout, I suspect).
  • love this game.

Once I have my full compliment of inspiration trays I tend to organize them by color in the traditional shapes of Tetris blocks.

Okay, so it turns out my OCD in this area isn't as bad as some, though I'm relieved to find there are others!

I just stack inspirations according to color and size. Smallest at bottom, biggest at top, all the greens in a row, purples in a row etc. Except if I have an awaken and a break free, I have an awaken on bottom, break free right over it, something else underneath them both. I won't keep more than one row of anything, IE if I have too many purples, I delete the smallest ones until I'm left with one column to make room for others. I will keep at max 2 columns of damages.

I'm OCD about other things too though. UI Set up, power set up, chat window set up. I have to have all my UI bubbles in the right places, all my chat channels in the right places. Except the powers in the tray, you can't tell one of my characters apart from the UI. Even with the powers, I have my 4th power tray with all my global powers, Booster powers, Pocket D transporter, base transporter ouroborus etc, set up in the same order in the same place on each character. In the early levels it bothers me to no end when that hole is there for the ouroborus transporter.

And after 6 years, (Well 5.5 or so for me.) I still LOVE flying in this game...

I dunno. When I think of Lower Body, I think waist level and under.

What do you still do, after 6 years, that you just can't seem to get right?
I still do this all the time To me belts hold up pants and thus should be WITH pants you know? though in the creator they are influenced by tops as to what style works as they have to deal with clipping etc for tops.

This is my setup:

The one on the upper right gets use immediately regardless of what it is. If I cannot use it, then it gets deleted immediately. The better ones are put at the top and if there is no room in a column then a weaker Inspiration is used. I arrange my Inspirations like this in the midst of battle while still keeping my attack chain going. Sometimes I'll chase an enemy and arrange my Inspirations at the same time.

...Can't really seem to get into any character beyond my level 50 Kinetic/Energy Defender.

...And, just like everyone else, it seems, have a very specific setup for my inspirations. Although, especially on my aforementioned Defender, I usually skip the damage boosts, as it just seems redundant.

After almost 7 years, I still:

Organize my insps in greens/combat/blues/1 wakey. I also combine 3 insps now instead of using that 1 wakey. I have no idea why, I just feel like I should have it. I think I carried the same small wakey around for a year once.

Will forsake power for theme. I've made a speedster with every speed power. Even whirlwind.

Make way too many costumes with just tights. I also seem to be in love with white boots and gloves. I rarely use capes for some reason.

Want animated hair. I'll scalp Ghost Widow if I have to. Even for the males.

Hate hasted. Every toon has it, but I hate the noise, the effect, and the fact that it interrupts my cool poses...

I'm OCD about my insps as well. I organize them in columns L-R (Greens, Special, Blues). My default is 2 columns of greens and 2 of blues. Top to bottom their organized by size with the large insps being on the bottom. The middle column (denoted as "special" above and once I have 5 columns), is usually 1 wakie (bottom), 1 break free. The empty spaces are for nomming mid-fights as they drop.

The vast majority of my toons are female and all of those (except for 2) are 5'-0" dead on. Waist and boob slider minimized, leg slider maxed. I then adjust them to the aforementioned 5'-0". I sometimes click through my character slots just to see the costumes change while height and body spec stays the same. So in addition to being pretty OCD I'm also easily amused it seems

Glad to see I'm not the only one that feels this way. I will not under any circumstances make a Science origin blue side character. Thank goodness for Going Rogue giving me options in that regard.

Its been 6 years, and I still die once before I remember to use the inspirations in my tray. Must be slow reflexes. Of course, I am Largo...

Its been 6 years and I still play my original character first, on every new release. That makes it tough when the release is mostly for lower level content, of course, there is ouroboros.

On a related note, its been 6 years and I have not deleted any 50s.

Its been 6 years, and there are still some TFs I have not completed. I think I have attempted almost all, except the shadow shard ones, never even started one of those. I've attempted the Eden trial twice, never successfully completed it, attempted the sewer trial 4-5 times and completed it once. Only been on 2 Hami raids and that was probably 4 years ago.

Egads man, we're practically like that original Trek episode with the two guys with the black & white faces!

Col 1: 3 reds, 1 break free on top
Col 2: 3 yellows, 1 bf
Col 3: 3 purples and a wakie
Col 4: 4 blues
Col 5: 4 greens

If you guys had really wanted me to keep & use oranges, you'd have introduced them to the game before my habits crystallized into OCD.

Oh, another "I still:" I still haven't made a character with Air Superiority. Yes I'm sure it's awesome, I'm just not interested.

i almost left the game in 2004 due to how bad my inv/EM tank was (i was like lvl 12 or so), then a friend convinced me to make a illusion/kinetics controller. a dozen 50s later (one of every other AT too!), i respeced my tank, got him into the 40s and am slowly pounding my way to 50 in between badging villianside with my controller.

While I haven't played this game for 6years, I have played MMO's for 6yrs with same issues carrying over.

I am never able to max out a toon due to my altaholicism (I have 10 right now and just started a week ago)

I can't keep my bag/inventory/insp tray in any one form of an organizational pattern for too long before the need to "optimize it" overcomes me.

I still pull more baddies than my toon can reasonably handle because I always think that the next pull will be the one where I triumph and I can proudly yell that I am a god

All of my gear/costume designs tend to go towards Black and a matching dark color. Never Black on Black though. Black is ALWAYS the main color.

I rush into every boss fight believing that any and all strats to defeating it are bunk and that the best way to beat a boss is to bash on him with everything I have until he dies.

I use the same names for every toon compromised of 20 names made from a list 8yrs ago. I never deviate.

I never make male toons.
