Funny you mention that, the first time I ran my Ill/Cold through I realized I was set at +2 lvl. I figured that's why his regen was so high. Dropped down to 0 lvl and got the same effect. So short answer lvl 50.

Is your benumb perma? Try throwing benumb on him just as he summons his clones, that way the -regen will work while your clone hunting, and then you can go back to pounding his face in.

So any AT that has issues should have to go and buy / gather temp powers because their AT sucks so bad they can't solo a mission meant to be soloable by everyone. Yeah that'll make you feel like an incarnate.

Ummmm even after you complete the arc you are NOT an incarnate just on the path toward it and have not even managed to slot the one lone power power you now can increase.
The point is not every player has unlimited time to set all this stuff up. Sure back up radios, envenomed daggers, Shivan, Warwolfs, ect will help but if we are talking about those players that can only play on weekends or only a few hours a few nights a week how long are they supposed to take setting all this stuff up just to complete ONE mission?

... Shivan Go to Bloody Bay and collect samples from all the Metors, find a Pillbox complex and destroy all the guns and then carft your Shivan Shard. Lets say that takes 20-30 minutes solo (less if you are teaming since you can take out the guns quicker)

... Warwolf Whistle Head to Ouroborus if you don't already have, or have used your origianl up, and run through the arc until you get the right mission. Hey maybe you get lucky and get it in 1-2 mission or maybe you aren't and end up doing most of Tobias Hansens arc (8 missions in all) before he finally hands you the one that grants that whistle so you could be looking at an hour or more.

... Back Up Radio Now your spending INF at Wentworths something not every player has a lot of although with things the way they are now those players are very few

... Base Empowerments Sounds great but not everyone belongs to a Super group and not every SG base has empowerment stations.

Look I am not disagreeing with anyone here.. You are talking to a Temp power Junkie and a lot of my 50 levels have as many as 8 icon trays open just to hold all the stuff they have. I run or help run several SGs and every one of them has the highest level empowerment station available. My 50 Level Badger has every single slot IOed and has even built IOs for several other 50s I have (since she is the one with the field crafting table and every single generic IO recipe memorized) and she still has close to 1 Billion in INF available. But not every player has all those advantages and while I don't think everything should be handed to us on a silver platter .. making the very first mission of a new system almost impossible for SOME players to even attempt without help hardly seems fair.

I argued that changing it so it was not possible to taunt Trapdoor away from his clones was wrong. At that point people were saying ALL you need to do is knock him into the lava and he dies. I still can't see the difference between using knockback to defeat him and using taunt and holds to defeat him are any different. Its called strategy... find your enemy's weakness and exploit it to your advantage.

So a basic power (Taunt) and a AT Inherent (Gauntlet) are completely negated. I tried to pull the clones closer to me so that I could fight them and the EB at the same time. They simply would not move at all. They would attack at range or stand stupidly, but not melee.

The clones on my mostly generic IO build took long enough to find and kill that trapdoor spawned at least one more clone during the same time frame.
Taunt works fine.

You can get their attention perfectly. You just can't herd them.

What Rodion said above is true, the clones can be knockbacked but can't move on their own. I haven't taken a Power analyser to them yet, but I suspect that they've got an Auto Power that inflicts an immobilise on them, the same way as Snipers do.

Done the arc on a Bane without enhancements (red SOs) just two days ago. No temps used, just my 20 insp slots. I'm having more and more trouble to believe people have genuine issues with Trapdoor.

I think he's more difficult on a melee AT, as it's harder to deal with his bifurcations without range. I think I brute forced him and dropped a few bifurcations the first time I did it with my Fire/Fire Tank, but my other meleers had a harder time... I usually pulled him to the hallway for them, actually.

Teams can roast him easy, and my ranged types mostly have to worry about the damage he tosses out, not getting him low enough.

Except this arc IS able to be completed solo.

That's exactly what I did. I got through him easily enough; not really the point I was making. I was just saying that his regen (pre bifurs going down) seems to be higher on a solo run than a team run.

Same here, but I have no fear about being able to solo nothing.

Haven't seen anything to make me worried.

Soloed Trapdoor on a claw/sr scrapper yesterday. Using just whatever insps I had on hand, and my innate powers failed. Usually works fine for Elite Bosses, this time failed. Came back and popped 18 red insps, took him down before he got his 3rd clone out.

So, you can solo the Statesman, Apex and Tin Mage task forces?
Or do you accept that some things are not intended to be soloed?

Of course, none of this applies to Trapdoor. He's not even as tough as Nosferatu.

The item doesn't make him an incarnate. He already was one, abit a tainted incarnate. Thus he can't personally use the item.

3 strats that work for me:

1) Keep him held, kill whatever clones he manages to get out and continue holding him. Beat him down at your leisure.

2) Go in with a full tray of reds. Pop 4 at a time, kill clones as he calls them out, go back to popping reds. You shouldn't need more than 8 reds unless you're slow.

It's not difficult it just requires a little thinking outside the box.

3) Team up with a dom or controller and have them just keep him held. Kill the clones then defeat him.

Unless you're an FF controller you should be able to solo him.

Even were I able to complete the mission (my Electric blaster barely did any damage to Lvl 49 Trapdoor even when his bifurcations weren't around, so I couldn't even get him down to 75% before my Insps ran out and he killed me), I wouldn't have trouble believing other people had genuine issues with it. I've seen people do too many improbable things things in this game to believe any given success can necessarily be achieved without undue difficulty, even if I accomplished it myself.

I just got the mission and did it on my (mostly SO'd) ice/cold corruptor without difficulty.

I did not need to use any inspirations (except a green when I jumped into the lava by mistake :/).

I got him to about half health, debuffed (Infrigidfate/Benumb/Heat Loss), hit him with sleet, and took out his bifurcations. He followed me down, I hit him with sleet again, and just kept hitting him. From door to defeat, it took about 5 minutes.

Thank you, Champion.

This game is so amazingly easy most of the time, that when we do get something that is a bit of a challenge, seems a vocal minority stand up to say it is too hard and un-soloable.

people offer suggestions to mitigate the challenge (ie: get temp powers or get a friend etc) and that is shot down with it takes time, or I hate everyone but still want to play an MMO.

it's an MMO people the whole point is to waste time doing this for fun, instead of smoking crack, or selling bogus stocks to old people in Florida.

So what if it takes you a week to gather the tools you need to run this one arc if your goal is to defeat this guy, and doing so is fun, then preparing for this epic battle should be fun.

if you can only play for 30 minutes a day, how does that change anything. after you defeat this one guy, you'll still only be able to play for 30 minutes. At 30 minutes a day it is going to take you a week or more to finish most story arcs and will only be able to run 1 maybe 2 of the TaskForces in the game; and the main reason to run this specific arc (for now) is to run the two new taskforces, neither of which have been finished in less than 1/2 an hour.

I personally think the devs are doing a good job of changing things up a bit, making us look for new ways to solve these puzzles; while still keeping the game amazingly easy. But then I have the time to play most all of the content. When I don't have time to play, I quit and give my stuff away, then come back and get more stuff.

Eh, small correction. I've seen apex times under 30 mins (28 mins i think is the fastest i've seen) and tin mage, from what i've heard is normally faster then apex, so once people start running that, we will probably have below 30 mins times.

I wouldn't say Trapdoor is invincible, but the mission did go from PITA, to not worth doing on more than one or two lvl 50's. For those of you that talk difficulty, you need to realize that most people who want 'hard' MMOs are playing harder MMOs...

IMHO the patch was counter-productive (except fixing the lava bug which was a cheesey way to win). I just wish I had read about the patch before doing an I19 respec on an old stone tanker. I messed with Trapdoor and clones for a silly amount of time.

I'm not goint to sort through my temp powers to find a combination that will enable me to kill Trapdoor and his clones more quickly. I'm probably not going to bother forming a team to get trapdoor. What I will do is put this old stone tanker back on the shelf and play the other toons that got through prior to the patch.

Life is too short to beat my head against the wall.

Ya know.... I did this mission TODAY and my teammate knocked him into the lava. The patch didn't change that. The patch made it so that you can't negate his regeneration by pulling him into the corridor.

For clarification, you can still pull him into the corridor.. but that extra range and/or lack of LoS no longer has any effect on his increased regeneration because the range on his Bifurcations was increased.

I've solo'd this arc about 3 or 4 times now. Pulling Trapdoor away from the room has worked but getting him into the lava has been the best so far. Certain ATs are going to have a lot more trouble with him then others.

I don't know what all they patched but the fact that some people are posting that things need to be changed to make it easier to solo is just crap. This game isn't about soloing. Never has been and never will be. They've made HUGE strides in improving the game. Some of that has allowed certain toons to be able to solo better. Still, if you're having trouble beating something, take the time to recruit a few people who are trying to do the arc too and beat it that way.

I think some ppl just want to be able to do things with as little effort as possible...kinda sad IMO.

I read a plea for help on a global channel and since I had solo'd Trapdoor easily, figured the person asking for help just didn't realize what the word "Bifurcate" meant. I didn't myself, and when I looked it up, figured I'd pull Trapdoor into the hallway, and got the best of him. But when I went to help this other person, with the same toon that spanked him easily, I found that things had changed.

Obviously, the range has extended greatly. If Trapdoor could jump high enough, he would have followed my tank to the front door of the map. I tried clobbering all the clones, but they would respawn before I could get to Trapdoor.

Here's the technique that would succeed, however, unless you have two accounts, you're not going to be able to solo this, post-patch.

Spam a hold on him. Once held, continue to hold while someone else clobbers the clones.

Then he'll go down easily, just so long as you can keep him held.

Agreed. Though he may be harder than before, it's still possible to kill each clone before he fully regenerates, and repeat until he is eventually dead. I'll agree that not all toons will be able to accomplish this, but like Tyranny_NA said, that's what teams are for. If you want to do everything solo, then you should already be on a toon that can actually solo... so there should be no problem.
