I had to do a system recovery recently and like an idiot, I forgot to backup all my files. I bought the game off the site so it was a digital purchase and I'm just wondering how I get the game back? Do I have to re-purchase it or is there a way to re-download the game again? I don't wanna feel like I lost money. =/

And as far as the boosters I bought, would I have to purchase those all over again?

Please help! >.<

You don't need to purchase anything over again. You can just download the game, which includes everything, boosters included. What you have unlocked is determined by your account.

Here's the link to the game client.

All NCSoft MMO's have that in the file.

And please refrain from using the racist term "gyped/jipped".

Racist term? Really?

Huh. How times do change.

Enjoy your day please.

No, always been. It's a derogatory term derived from Gypsy. Gypsies are another name from the Romani, a European ethnic group that is still being persecuted today in France as well as other European countries, not to mention being rounded up and killed in WW 2 in Germany or by Stalin in the Soviet Union as undesirables.

Peruse this, antiziganism.

Only things you will have lost are saved costumes/power colour customization unless you have them backed up.

As with most pay to play MMOs, what you purchase isn't the client software but an account key. The client can be freely downloaded off the site even if you've never bought the game before.

I've used "gypped" all my life and have never once heard anyone say it's offensive or most of all racist. I had to look it up with Google to see what the heck you were talking about. I'm not convinced anyone would be genuinely offended by its use.

thats the problem with terms like that that have made their way into modern common use language, theres a whole lot of people who are probably offended by it.

Well, probably because the group it offends is such a small minority, especially in the US, and it's been so commonly used that not many people actually know its origin. The term stems from the stereotype of all Gypsies being thieves. I admit I didn't make the connection until someone pointed it out ( politely ) to me. I avoid using it now.

The most likely derivation is actually from the term from a college servant in certain colleges in England, which in turn probably comes from a type of tunic. But it's still best to avoid using it, as people do find it offensive, and there are perfectly good non-offensive words that mean the same thing.

Somehow I don't see anywhere remotely as likely a link there...

Oh man, that's right. I had a similar incident as the OP earlier this year and lost that stuff, my unpublished MA arcs/characters, keybind files -- and worst of all, a metric pantload of screenshots.

The first time I heard this was in middle/high school (right when I was between them in fact) from a kid at summer camp. I tend to agree that most people* who are actually "offended" by it have no reason to be, but why take the chance?

*For the purposes of this discussion, "most people" stands for "middle-to-upper class white people".

I didn't know "gyped" was a slur until recently, because it came up on the boards. "Gyped/jipped" is so ingrained in the common vernacular as a term that means "losing money" that most people don't realize it's a slur. It is, though, so it isn't allowed on the boards. As Grouchybeast said, there are alternatives.

Also, I lost the game.

First after a redname who lost the game!

I'll help you look for it.

Leave it to someone on this board to take the OP and turn it into something ugly...
To go from someone losing their game O_o To a racist slur conversation... NICE
Thanks... Now I have the song "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" running through my head...

It's an internet forum. Nothing specific to this one. What is fairly rare about this one is that it remained civil.

I have to agree here. I do not believe anyone would honestly be genuinely offended to me saying "I feel liked I have been gypped." OR "They gypped me!". I can see a whole lot of people who seem to feel they need to be "Politically Correct" and therefore CHOOSING to be be offended. Kinda like some people were choosing to be offended over a certain Halloween Badge. Anyways, I think I will start using to term more often now just to annoy people that purposely try to find reasons to be offended.

Well, I would guess that there are may American-use slurs that I'm sure are used by people in other countries who don't know the meaning in our culture, and we would be appalled at their use. Being PC is not about being 'correct' or 'proper', it's about having a little empathy and being sensitive to the world in which one lives.

If you feel like you want to offend people on purpose, well, good luck to the friends you may have used to have in the future*.

Not many would be. Specifically because there aren't exactly many Gypsies in the US...

And, honestly, I'm sick of the "Wah wah, stop being so PC!" response any time anyone says anything about a slur being used. Seriously, the "anti-PC" crowd have gotten far worse than the "PC" crowd ever was.
