Halloween Mobs
The Vampires especially are kicking my but on a low-level tanker. For everything, I pray that my Sands of Mu won't miss. Can't wait to see how a high-level character (prolly a scrapper) might perform.
I did a little TorTing on my lvl 37 Mind/Emp controller this morning before work. Had about 20 tricks give or take, including a few with Vamp bosses and Crones (witch bosses).
It was slow going, due to my lack of damage, but I did not find the mobs to be particularly difficult. Of course being able to confuse or hold them so they can't attack me certainly helped.
Last year, when I was TorTing in AP with low level toons, I was regularly getting my rear end handed to me, so I definitely think the challenge is inversely proportional to level.
(Sometimes, I wish there could be a Dev thumbs up button for quality posts, because you pretty much nailed it.) -- Ghost Falcon
Well... I was ToTing with my level 37 archery/TA corruptor this morning, and all the orange con Boss types were pretty much a guaranteed visit to the hospital - until I started ToTing near a place with a police drone (the AE building in Brickstown). Then if a Crone or whatever popped out, I'd run to the drone. Bzzzzt! Crone Droned! Bwahaha.
Took an hour or so to get a tip mission - which, btw, was also a PIA for that character, and wound up being an all too typical Elite Boss Inspiration Fest. Can't hold him. Can't immob him. Can't do enough damage fast enough to not die because - gee! - I don't have enough of the right inspirations. Hello, venerable hospital lobby! Hello, contact! Got any reds and purples for me today? Thanks! Die, Elite Boss! Oh. No way to get a rare recipe unless I go completely against this character's character as I have played her for 37 levels. Boo, devs. Boo.
With my level 48 Arachnos Widow, I got no bosses, got three costume salvage pieces, got two or three costumes, got the Halloween tip within five minutes, sneaked past all the mobs along the way in the mission, killed the Elite Boss in 60 seconds or less, got a rare recipe, and stuck around to fight the Clockwork. Whee.
That's about all I've done so far, except for a few doors with a couple of lowbies just for the heck of it.
I think they actually got a buff last year but I'm not 100% certain of that. I just know that they do seem more "significant" now than they did several years ago. It's almost like these MOBs treat you as one level higher difficulty setting wise regardless of what your actual setting is.

Might just be the low levels then. We have not tried it with our 50's yet. Just very surprised as usually the event is very fun, and this year it's very frustrating. They remind me of the scaled zone event mobs and how they are much more powerful than something similiar in mob type and level.
Had no problem with ToTing this year on my lvl 50 KM/WP scrapper. Often if I got a trick, I would keep moving until I had 3 or 4 tricks worth before fighting them off. So the lack of power scaling is probably the issue, with lvl 50 appropriate mobs showing up against lowbies.
No real problems so far but I did notice more boss mobs spawning than before (could be my imagination) and it seems door mobs are actually able to scale higher as I was playing my lvl 50 scrapper and someone elses door mob came running by and it was all purples.

I had no trouble with them on my L50 emp/dark, despite most of them being highly resistant to his damage type (yay, Ghost Slaying Axe). I would note, however, that if you can mez the boss-class mobs (Crones and Vampire Lords), you should do so at the first opportunity. They're annoying at best, and the vamps hit really hard.
The Way of the Corruptor (Arc ID 49834): Hey villains! Do something for yourself for a change--like twisting the elements to your will. All that's standing in your way are a few secret societies...and Champions of the four elements.
So far I've only done it with my upper 20s Demons MM, so I've had few real problems. However, against Crones and Vampire Lords I do struggle if I get a string of missed attacks. Last night I actually said aloud (to myself), "Thank goodness for that freeze ray." Stopping a boss cold (ha!) has saved my bacon more than few times.

Seem the same as last year and I complained about them then. Obviously they aren't going to change so my ranged characters will be force to either leech off the melees or team up to ToT... just like last year.

Fun.
The overpower issue is exactly why the developers design story arcs in intervals of five levels. An enemy can have all their powers scale up and down when needed but they have to make multiple versions of the same enemies in order for them to have different powers.
Why do you think groups like the Hellions and Trolls stop at around Lv20, and why groups like the Council start off as gun-toting soldiers and start turning into Science-origin vampires and Werewolves. It's because certain enemies have set powers that don't scale in level and groups that span from 1-50 end up having different enemies spawning in later levels.
Wasn't it in the recent massively dev-diary that up until recently they had to code enemies with multiple copies of the same power just to make them use it as often as intended?

And FWIW, I too was noticing an abundance of bosses and +1 enemies while solo ToTing.

My Tank dislikes Crones intensely. They never kill him, they're just a nuisance. The Vampire Lords are pretty nuisance-y too....
They drop great Prestige though, so its all good.
Anyone else noticing the mobs hitting much harder this year, during the door knocking?

Just a lot of "TRICK!"*COUGH*COUGH*COUGH*AUUGH!*DEAD!*
Actually, was in earlier today on my Shield/Elec tank and it WAS a bit rough-going.
Not noticing the mobs being different, but noticing more mobs per trick and more bosses.
jeese, its like every since GR, the game has gotten harder. and not in a good way quite sad.
I don't ToT alone so I honestly can't put much weight into what I just said but they do feel tougher.
Whining about everything since 2006.
Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:

They do seem to pack a bit more of a wallop, especially at the lower levels. Tried first on a level 10 DP/Energy blaster in Preatoria and was routinely licking pavement. Switched to a level 27-28 DA/Elec tank and was mowing them down will little or no issue at all.
Now, the friggin Zombie invasion mobs seem to be owning just about everything I have run on this week, especially when trying to kill a few of them solo.

Shhh! Rangle is plotting.
Was ToTing with my lvl 50 grav/kin in the RWZ without a problem (well, me and my Singularity). Crones and Vampire Lords are certainly a PITA, but was cruising along pretty well.
Then was duoing in the same neighborhood with hubby on his lvl 50 en/en blaster and me on my lvl 50 merc/TA MM. Doors were a bit of a challenge, but usually only when we'd both accidentally click on the door at the same time (oops).

I haven't noticed where the mobs have gotten any tougher this year. The major change in difficulty for this event was last year, when the higher ranks of mobs became more abundant. Not only are you now seeing the Bosses solo, but you can get a Boss and Lieutenant or two Lieutenants in a solo Trick spawn. When the two Lieutenants are Werewolves or Sorceresses, that can get very painful. Two Midnight Grasps at once can drop a level 14 Tanker down to about 1/4 of their HP.

Werewolves...
GAWD they hit hard!
The GF and I were running a pair of DP Blasters (mid teens; DP/MM for her; DP/Devices for me) in Steel and Skyway on Justice last night. We could deal with almost anything that came out (Even +1 Bosses), but have two Werewolves blitz out the door... Hello Hospital!
Now's here's the wierd thing, Halloween Salvage.
I think the GF & I did about 2 & 1/2 hours of ToTing w/the pair mentioned above (XP off and was doing it for the Salvage mainly...). In that time frame, we got enough Salvage to have at least 10 full sets between the two of us. Does that seem right or did the Drop rate get tweaked a little?
Thank you for the time...

Anyone else noticing the mobs hitting much harder this year, during the door knocking? My wife and I are getting our collective rears handed to us. I mean, we are not under slotted or anything, green enhancements or IOs. They just keep two shotting us, and the zombies from the doors are bad ***.
I mean, two scrappers should not fall to the doors three times in a row, even when we are at base difficulty level.
