  1. I really don't remember when I started but I know I hated tanks and didn't much care for blue side, till the TT tour came to Triumph. Only took one run and I was making a tank on every server.

The tanker events have been one of the great things about this game and I will miss them. Going to be hard to move on but life makes us do it whether we want to or not.

TT attracts good peeps and I wish you all the best and hope to see you in some other place, leading the charge and saving the squishies.

    Papa
  2. Great time as always. TT will be one of the things I will miss the most if our world ends in November. Till then, I will be smashing on...so many Archons...so little time.
  3. I have been a sucker for cheesy symbolism since this news all broke. I love that scene TBoxer. In truth, given NcSoft basically saying they want to stick with Orc and goblin games, I seem to be drawn to this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tgi-...eature=related

On the day the armies of darkness arrive to cast our beloved city into ash and ruin, the horns will sound. The Tankers will gather. We will ride for wrath. We will ride for ruin and the worlds ending. We will aggro that whole damned map...Witty will die...Rangle will be blamed and we will make it such an ending as to never be forgotten.

    Ya, know....if tanks rode horses.
  4. I am guessing this is more coincidence than anything I would deserve credit for, but here it is anyway. A short while before AE was announced I submitted a rather lengthy script for a series of stories titled The Shadow Web.

The premise was a series TF's/SF's that covered a characters entire level span but had a max team size of 4 players. Each TF was a chapter in the overall story. The chapters were all independent of each other but were tied together at the end. The whole thing was designed to be played from both sides. Villains as protagonists and heroes trying to discover what the villains were up to.

One of my favorite chapters was "Season of the Witch" which centered on War Witch making a pact with The Cabal through which the witches of Croatoa would restore War Witch to a physical existence in return for her aid in ridding Croatoa of the Red Caps permanently. The end game of the whole story was the invasion of the Kheldian home world by Lord Recluse.

We had finally started to come close to the theory behind the script I sent in with the new SSA's. So while the stories for SSA's are certainly not mine, I like to think I may have planted the seed that brought them into the game.
  5. Doc/Sean,

The thanks goes to you. I just wish I wouldn't have waited to try and get back into the MA again. Lots of stories rolling around in my head that will never see the light of day.

Best of luck in everything the future holds.

    Goodbye Triumph!

Triumph. My first and long time home in this game before I expanded my horizons to Justice and a few others. Nothing compared to Tri in its prime. Running with Bloodhorn, Electraline, Boomie, Phantom Cobra, Z, and the rest of the Revenants.

I spent 9 months working out of town, living in a camper, playing on a laptop with an aircard. The vent server and game time with all of those guys probably kept me from sticking my head in the oven of that camper.

Triumph might have been small but the people were...are great.
  7. I absolutely wish nothing but the best for everyone at the studio. They all deserve much better than this ending. Like many others have said already, the escapism provided by this game got me through one of the lowest times in my life.

I am still a little stunned by the news. I am stunned by the effect it is having on me. I have greatly enjoyed the company of more people than I could ever hope to mention through my years here.

The creative outlet provided by this game and all the people who have worked on it is something that I do not think I will ever see duplicated again. The costume creator, bases, AE (love it or hate it, AE was an inspired idea), player vids, player art, the player back stories, and of course, the Rangle Plots. The people associated with this game, both devs and players alike, have imaginations and talent that never cease to blow me away.

It has been a pleasure to share the streets and skies of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles with you all.

  8. This has been a bit hard for me to process today. I will miss this game way more than any grown man should miss a video game. It has been a pleasure Tanking with you all and I hope to stay in touch with more than a few of you. Right now I think I need to go for a walk....

Oh yeah! The perfect weather this weekend resulting in finally being able to spend about 6 or 7 hours pressure washing and resealing the back patio and walk...in the middle of double XP weekend...Rangle Plot!

While I do always seem to enjoy your posts, the things you find to be an "interesting" use of your time make my brain want to crawl out of my head a directly into the nearest bottle of Rum.

Don't get me wrong. I am quite thankful there are people like you. The world would be a much different place without the math whizzes, but boy do these threads make my head hurt when I read them.

I have always prefered resistence sets so I will periodically check back in to see if a final determination has been reached on just how good or bad this will be for my favorite armors. Till then, I am off to check in with the Captain.

It makes too much noise, it takes too much political dancing and in the end, it doesn't really offer all that much in return, other than pure land resources. It would be much smarter to restrict his Primal Earth footpring to the fortress city of Grandville - an easily defensible position with enough manpower and resources to hold a stable beachhead while the rest of his empire sprawls across many worlds that we simply never even suspect. Recluse, it turns out, doesn't need the Rogue Isles. He all of the miltiverse to exploit, if he plays his cards right, with really only Nemesis Rex to get in the way.

In a sense, Recluse discovers a way to make Arachnos stronger than it has ever been while still keeping it very, very lean. A smaller footprint makes his threat harder to fully appreciate, it makes for a smaller target for attackers and infiltrators and it makes for a place that's much easier to control. And yet at the same time, Arachnos has set deep, deep roots across the multiverse.

Also, Recluse is never above stealing from people. Anti-Matter stole portal technology from Primal Earth, Neuron stole it from him and developed his large-scale portal technology... Who's to say Recluse hasn't stolen that from and expanded upon it. Have you noticed that huge giant empty chamber in the middle of his tower in Grandville. It might seem like that's a really, really inefficient hangar, but it's as much a hangar as Neuron's little decorative pool under the NTU tower is a decorative pool. No, Recluse's tower isn't just there to prop up the net. The whole thing is a massive engineering project with one purpose above all else - the ability to move a large-scale military force across dimensions when the time is right.

That, to me, is the perfect solution to making Recluse a true flagship villain and making Arachnos an actual, believable threat on the global playground without having to accept that "Shut up! He is!" Recluse's presence on Earth is unimpressive, but there's no telling how far beyond our world his presence extends. I admit, I'm a Nemesis fan, but if there's one person in our whole fictional universe that I'd willingly accept beating him at his own game, it's Recluse, because he is, essentially, "the villain" in the purest sense of the word. And I really wish more is done with him.
OK, I was having very mixed feelings about this until we got to this point. This I like. By going this route and puling Arachnos back into Grand, Recluse consolidates his forces and can present the illusion of weakness while turning the remainder of the Isles into the true survival of the fittest proving grounds he has always professed to seek. Recluse would be saying "Ok kids, see this power vacuum...let's see what happens." The result of these power struggles will show Recluse who his potential speed bumps might be should he decide he still wants to rule it all again.

The real fun part is Recluse spinning his web across the multi-verse. His power and resources growing exponetially in secret while giving the appearance of weakening to the outside world. I see some Doctor Doom in this. Some fool hardy villain or over zealous hero thinks Recluse is vulnerable and tries to take him out and zap..perfect guinea pig for the latest inter-demensional tech Recluse pilfered.

The whole thing serves him perfectly. He gets his survival of the fittest experiment in a more pure form. He retools, re-arms a better military machine and spreads his power base across worlds instead of islands, building a force that could potentially overwhelm all others. All the while, just by putting a little blood in the water, he brings all the sharks that want to take him out right to his front door where he can deal with them on his terms.

    Me likey...

Well, the key word in my post would be "rumor" and I m not exactly sure what "that" is but I think you might have a dirty mind...
  14. I must make one thing perfectly clear. I am in no way the "right hand" anything to Rangle, Warboss, or LSK. I have heard the rumors of what their "right hand's" are required to do and I would never submit to such treatment. In fact, I am insulted by the insinuation.

    Rangle Plots are Evil!!

    That is all...
  15. Saw it a while back with my wife and enjoyed it. I think they managed to make an entertaining movie about Abe Lincoln killing vampires without actually sullying/tarnishing ole Abe's rep. Which in itself is an accomplishment and, for myself, this movie actually seemed like an original idea, or at least as close as we get to an original idea from hollywood most days.

I'm not sure how Desi Nova fits in, but they seem to be an independent operator that's been fooled by the Warboss' Hirelings Iniquitous Machinations (I've heard rumors they call it WHIM for short). It all makes sense now.

I think LSK is attempting to take over WHIM from Warboss; which is why they're both attempting to out each other as the "mastermind" behind the non-existent "Rangle Plots™." And me, stuck in the middle of this nefarious scheming.
Wow, this was a stretch. Rangle has obviously gotten a few people all twisted around so they see conspiracy every where. Let's stay focused. Rangle Plots are the true source of all our ills.

On a totally unrelated note, I made a fun little discovery while killing time in the reactor last night. If you can get your hands on some old "Church Lady" skits from SNL, while you await your next set of freakshow sacrifices, everytime the Church Lady says "Satan" replace it with "Rangle". Enjoy.

Proof?? Proof!! Just as the fact that I can draw breath is proof there is air around me, the very existence of Rangle proves there are Rangle Plots around us...

You of all people Warboss should be keenly aware of the insurmountable volume of evidence these plots exist. How often must we witness the strange happenings in our midst that can only be explained by one phrase..."Blame Rangle"...for these are his plots.

    Proof?
That Malta ambush that spawned on you just after you used a wakie? Rangle
The reason you died and needed to use that wakie in the first place? Rangle
The existence of squishy scrappers? Rangle
    Snuggle-uppets...Twilight...warm beer
    Rangle...Rangle...Rangle
The shot gun wielding father of that girl that said she was 18....Rangle (ask LSK)

What more do you need? The proof is all around you.

I am with you on most of this line of thinking but for the analogy to work I think it goes:
    Rangle/Nemesis
Warboss/Fake Nemesis (he's a decoy for the real plotter)
Impish/Lady Grey (outwardly appears to be against Nem plots but secretly the power behind the plots)

Crap...it's Thursday! Wait, what Thursday is it!?!? Am I missing BT again?! *swoosh temporal vortex sweeps up Papa Slade*
  20. Solid run tonight. Two full teams (1 each side) redside team rolled through papers a tip or two and made Holo Man regret patrolling the PI bank mish.

Who dispatches these silly heroes anyway??? Holo Man?? Really? I think there was a better fight between the Brutes trying to get a punch in on him than Holo Man put up.

Thanks again to everybody that came out.

but honestly, this is the very reason I missed a couple of events the first time around.

What is left of my feeble little mind could not grasp the concept that the second Thursday of the month could possibly be before the second Tuesday, as it is ths coming August and November. So I would be happily logging in on the Thursday after TT Justice thinking it had to be the second Thursday of the month only to find out it was the week before and I missed it.

So, when War asked if I would lend a hand getting it going again my only stipulation was that it be the Thursday after TT justice, no matter what Thursday of the month that is, or I couldnt guarantee I would show up on the right day....because my mind ain't right.

But everyone feel free to keep giving War a hard time over the confusion...it is quite entertaining.

Except for August and November when they will actually be the third Thursday...seriously...look it up.
  24. I will have to make it out to one of these...good excuse to get west of the Mississippi for something besides work.

Now back to our regularly scheduled Rangle Plots.

    ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!!!

How can the CDC overlook Rangle as a possible cause?!?
  25. Plain and simple....Brutal Thursdays is on Justice the Thursday after Tanker Tuesday is on Justice.

So, if TT is on Justice we run Brutes that Thursday.

Now that we have that cleared up. I will probably run an ITF next time out. Johnny needs some shards although picking up a notice from either Silver Mantis or Penny's TF is a possibility as well, depending on who brings what levels.

    Cya all there!
