Would you watch a 5th Indiana Jones movie starring "Mutt" as the new Indiana?

I'd probably watch it however it's not what I'd want. I'd like to see the series rebooted with a new actor playing Indy (my preference is Nathan Filion).

Wow. I am, practically one of the only people that would entirely accept it without caveat. Weird.

Anyway, carry on!

Not a chance. I've not liked Shia Overcastundertalented in any of the films I've seen him in.

I haven't watched the 4th one starring Harrison Ford yet.

I don't think I could handle an Indiana Jones movie without Ford.

I'd watch Ford and Shia in anther Indiana movie though.

Not a chance.

Mutt has easily taken the place of Willie as Indy's most annoying sidekick to date.

I'd watch it.

Don't know if I wouldn't complain about it afterwards, but I'd still go see it.

It was no "Mansquito."

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

I would go see it on genre alone. I mean how many other swashbuckling adventure films are out there nowadays? Even if Harrison Ford wasn't in it, just having a new adventure movie in theaters amongst the morass of unfunny romantic comedies and shaky-cam action flicks would be a breath of fresh air.

Yup... I pretty much agree...

But then . . .

I remember standing in line for the first "Die Hard".

and I was mocking it, because
I just KNEW that the "Moonlighting" Bruce Willis guy,
just would NEVER make it as an action hero!

LOL.

I would watch a new Indiana Jones movie, if it was a reboot, with a new cast, and a new Director Producer team doing it.

Would i? no. Will someone else? of course they will. so long as they stay the **** over there and don't try to tell me that it's "Indiana Jones" then we should get along just fine.

Sure, why not.

No, no I would not.

Are you asking me out for a date, Marcian?

Hmm...

Would I watch it? Yeah. Speilberg and Lucas can deliver a fantastic show.

I'd much prefer another Harrison Indy movie though.

I liked Mutt though. However, what I liked most about him was that it made fun of him. If a movie tried to have him as a main character without the mocking of that character, it'd probably be painful.
Not that this has anything to do with your question... But... Alfalfa!! There... I said it!

And, Marcian... I have a caveat for everything (except one particular thing).

That's all we need:
Plenty of die-hard fanbois already think J.J. Abrams "ruined" Star Trek with his reboot.
The idea that he could be involved in "ruining" Indiana Jones with another reboot would be epic.
At the very least it would solidify his Hollywood reputation for being the killer of childhood dreams...

I'm not strictly against Shia LeBeouf being in some kind of generic Indiana Jones styled movie. I'm just not sure they could pull off having him be the direct replacement of Harrison Ford regardless of who's making it. Part of the allure of Indiana Jones is that it's set in an interesting historical time. But by the time the "Mutt" character could become the leading guy of this series it'd be like the 1960s-70s. At that point a movie set in that relatively recent modern time would likely just come off as some kind of watered down James Bond / Tomb Raider clone that wouldn't have the same appeal.

Unlike Abrams' Star Trek (which was a pure reboot of the original characters) I still think any LeBeouf based Indiana Jones movie will just always be seen as a sad cash-grab clone of Harrison Ford.

Also, Mutt doesn't have the education. He may be smart, (didn't see much evidence of that in the film) but I don't think he'd have the chops to know things like exactly what page to find a picture of the arc in an unabridged copy of the bible, or how to speak fluent Hindi, or how to interpret old-English clues from the coffin lid of a knight.

He's just not as interesting a character, nor does he have as interesting a skill set. Motorcycle riding and fencing does not an Indy Jones make.

I don't care how much "teaching" his father and mother gave him after crystal skull. He'll never have the world experience and education that Indy had.

This is a good point too. Indy and Mutt have a completely different set of skills and world experiences. Indy is basically a mild mannered teacher with the "secret identity" as a cool action guy. Mutt is basically a young non-academic action guy who might(?) get some "late-bloomer" booksmarts at some point. They are almost polar opposites.

To be honest instead of a Mutt-based Indiana Jones movie I'd almost rather see a "young Henry Jones" movie to see some early adventures Indy's father. Yes we know he was obsessed with the Holy Grail but there must be a story behind HOW he became obsessed with that. How did he met Indy's mother and/or Marcus Brody? I figure it'd be cooler to see this kind of prequel film than some kind of "Son of Indy" spinoff.

This! This would be so cool! Idea's are already spinning in my head.

Would I watch a 5th Indiana Jones movie? Hells yeah
Would I watch the 1st Mutt Williams movie? Yes
Would I watch the 2nd Mutt Williams movie? Depends on the 1st

Most likely Indy 5 would have Harrison taking a similar role to Sean Connery as Henry Jones in Indy 3 . . . he is the older, experienced guy with the brains and some minimal action, while Shia handles the big action and protects "old Indy." Would I watch that? I'd wait for reviews before seeing it in the theater. I'd probably catch it on Netflix later.

I loved Indy 1 & 3, and I considered 2 to be a good but not as great film. 4 was slightly below 2. Frankly, they do better sticking to the Judao-Christian stuff. It creates a conflict when other "magic" works.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

Would love to see an Indiana Jones and the Thing without a Name! movie. Indy vs Cthulhu would rock! Something that would challenge his sanity.

My actual biggest complaint about "Crystal Skull" was the lack of puzzle-solving things that Indy does in that movie. The first three (yes, even "Temple of Doom") worked because Indy had to put the various pieces together, which lead to more pieces, which finally lead to the MacGuffin and a special effects set piece to close everything out.

In "Crystal Skull," he mostly just followed a crazy guy around the jungle and got betrayed by his "friend" roughly 24 times.

In short, it wasn't an Indiana Jones movie. It was a poorly-constructed adventure film starring Harrison Ford as a pale shadow of Indiana Jones. I couldn't endure another film like that, and I certainly won't endure a "Mutt Williams" film.
