Picking a baseline will help make comparisons easier. Also, SO builds would have a hard time with anything over +2 for completing these tests. In general SO builds and builds under 1 bill take twice or three times as long to complete the tests versus 2 billion+ builds. Some builds do better in Nemesis but take longer in others and vice versa.
The type of farm does play a factor in how well the brute takes to kill. There's enough AE farms out there that are geared toward a specific powerset. Just use the farm that is weakest against the powerset. The same can be said of the TV Lib and the Mercy Egg farm as well.
Some folks have tested their builds in AE already and my guess is that even though SS may have lower damage than claws, the damage is good enough to take out the minions/LTs. If that's the case, then having a bigger radius is a plus.

I guess that you haven't read Fury Flechette's post on going from 0 to 1 bill inf in a week.

I like my SS/Elec/Mu. It was a godsend doing TV Farm pre-Going Rogue since the Fake Nemesis robots would be out of end and unable to turn invulnerable :P Especially since the rotation is quick recharging unlike elec/SD, and you get infinite end, and innate 20 recharge.

Not to pick nits, but I am a natural nitpicker. So, here goes. Your algebra looks passably sound. Unfortunately, without decipering the last two pages of posts for values for your variables I am unable to decipher your meaning. I give crap about this argument, cause I know my cheesy SS/Fire/Mu farms okay, and either is really good or the best, and I do not care which.

However, since you seem to really care about your academics I offer this. You are no doubt clever and working hard and assimilating the knowledge you are reviewing. If you want to clearly communicate this information and make a difference to the people you are talking to speak clearly, start slowly, define everything, and then run the numbers and post the conclusion. Otherwise the only person who will ever understand you is the other econ geek standing next to you and your company will think you are useless.

It isn't even sound...

Add r which is the difference, to make the terms equal:
eA + fC + r = gB + hC

Now we add D to the equation for the new powers. Note that 'D' is different on both sides, but the remaining terms hold the same.
eA + fC + r + iD = eA + fC + jD (notice there's no +r in this substitution)

subtract eA & fC from both sides:

r + iD = jD
All of the algebra in the post was no different than saying "If i=j, then i=j." Literally the conclusion of the proofs were premises established arbitrarily at some point prior.

Even if you did go back and read it all, there's lots of factors that need to be established that he insisted on dropping from consideration. There's literally nothing informative about that post at all.

Honestly, the next conversation about the effectiveness of Footstomp (because of it's area) vs the increased DPS that Shockwave and Spin offer in claws is probably more informative. Bill and I showed in different ways that even double-rage applied to a secondary/epic attacks isn't enough to make it stand tall above Claws/, though it does need to be accounted for.

I would bet that if more tests were done with all else being equal, SS/ and Claws/ probably farm at about the same pace. If those silly all boss farms were still around, I'd probably prefer Claws/ because of the increased DPS and the lower chance of the mobs scattering randomly. For anything else, it could easily be a wash.

The fact you are pointing out there's no 'r' is showing that you don't get it. r was given earlier as the difference, the residual. It is simply not meant to be on the other side.

9 > 6

6 + 3 > 6

Now you have A + r > A

Note there is no r term on the right.

Sorry, I just can't help you if you don't get it. This was beaten to death a week ago.

How exactly does this help us figure out whats the best AoE?

Hahaha... can't help me... if I don't get it... that's awesome since your terms don't even match what I quoted. Trust me, I get it.

You substituted gB + hC with eA + fC.... but you were wrong to do so, because you had just established that
Quote:

Get it? There's a +r in there. It has to remain in there. You can't substitute some of the variables. You have to take all of what's on the other side when you substitute.
What you did was like this:
X+2=Y
X=Y
Note that there's no 2 in there.

If your algebra was even close (it's not), you would have proven that you can simply remove strict inequalities willy nilly (you can't).

That was the half that was blatantly wrong. The first half was the blatantly pointless.
Since you had the arbitrary premise
Quote:
eA + fC + iD = gB + hC + jC when i = j.
and concluded
Quote:
i = j
That's like
2+2=4
2+2+i=4+j, when i=j
i=j

My favorite part is you started with an arrogant and misplaced remark

When I had just showed that the only thing you claimed I did wrong, you actually just misread or misinterpreted or... forgot how math works maybe.... But had no follow up when I corrected you... Then put out work that would have got you an F in a remedial pre-algebra class. Perhaps you're not aware of what "wrong" means.

So yeah, I get it.

My math took your math out in the back alley and beat the crap out of it. Therfore i>j when j~i and a=c+x.

I took 2 years of calculus. college level. ended with multi variable calculus using linear algebra to solve systems of diff equations. I am lost by what you guys are saying. Not because I could not, given time, decipher all of the posts. Because your argument and writing style makes it tedious, boring, and deathly tiresome. The lack of clarity, the depending on previous posts for logic, the bickering, the childishness. Ich, let the damn post die. please. and, p.s., a cursory read shows the important aspects, SS and Claws both do okay. choose your weapons and enjoy.

Yuh I am pretty much 100% guilty of that, my apologies. That's why I just stopped responding and let it die for a week (a shame it came alive again), and will do the same again.

I think what we can all agree on is that the best brute AOE attack is Whirling Hands and that Energy Melee needs a nerf.

I have done some number crunching and I am 105% sure that my Energy Melee / Stone / mace brute destroys ss or claws. Add in flurry and sands of Mu, its freaking amazing. Build up and Whirling hands does insane damage, and it looks kick *** in granite. On top of all of that you get the killer BEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO POP! sound effect from Energy Transfer. TOTAL WIN.

Me too. I had sense enough for at least a message or two to think it would be better discussed in private messages rather than thread jacking, but I lost that sense I suppose.

Waaaaait a second... Isn't Flurry a single target attack?
