Enlighten Me: Why is Posi I & II so popular?

Is there something I'm missing?

Because it doesn't suck anymore? While the other Phalanx TFs still do?

They're fun, quick, easy and new(ish). Add to that that there are way more lvl 10-20 heros than there high level ones (+the high levels can join them too) and you got the answer.

They're the new shiny. Everyone wants to get some of the new shiny.

I think its just the lowbies on the high population server...

That TF's rewards blow, and takes too long for the current ones given a standard team.

But the TF is better than it used to be, in terms of content and locations

Why do people quote the OP when they are the first to reply? I just don't' see the point!

*smirks* Coz I made it look GOOD in my I-17 video?

j/k

Seriously, it is good fun, and God I hope they take it as a cue to revamp the other FP TFs...

I really can't speak for Posi 2, but Posi 1 you get to fight everyone's dopplegangers! I love it for that reason alone!

And I as I always tell my team "I hope my double kills you all!"

But your double is always the first to die.

I figured it's just the 1st one all the Praetorians coming over can run. So they just jump right in.

Not always and I want to cry when it is.

Though I do love it when my double causes a team wipe.

I run it (not super often but I do) because it is finally what it was meant to be, a solid introduction to the TF system. Nonessential travel is minimized, the encounters feel epic, and the maps and goals are interesting, with a minimum of redundancy.

Anti-stealth-editing.

Edit: TBH, there's also (on occasion) just wanting to be able to reference what's being said, in case other replies come in at the same time. It'd be... odd... with a question like this, but if someone's asking multiple things, yeah, I'll likely quote the post and either reply in-line or in order.

Not that Zombie would do that, but yeah that's the first reason I thought of.

I'm now so tempted to change the first post to something like, "If you ever killed a kitten for the joy of it, tell me why you like the new Posi TFs."

I enjoy the new and updated positron taskforces for many reasons.

Firstly the experience you gain on those taskforces are pretty good and quick, i am happy to take a character i am levelling down to a positron to gain more xp. Obviously i could gain good xp in other places but on the positron it seems more fun.

Secondly theres the added risk of the taskforce team wiping out in an instant /challenge factor if one or two members dont focus hard enough. To me that makes a team great, the feeling of being "super" but knowing that one slip and the entire team suffers greatly. I call them my carnage teams.

Thirdly, the chance to face off against your double and your team mates doubles arent seen anywhere else in the game [apart from AE obviously]. Sure you could face your own one on one, but the chance to face against a team of doubles arent anywhere else in the game. To me that is a huge draw because you know it has the potential [and in my experience more than often is] to be a nasty hard fight.

They are the reasons for me anyway

This. So very this. The other ones are beyond suck.

I heard a room full of retarded monkies .....wait...that might be too harsh....

I think it's got a good atmosphere. There are some unique maps and enemies in the doppelgangers. Like someone else mentioned, the XP isn't bad either. In any case I'd run Posi I & II before I'd run an destined-to-be-invasion-interupted Numina any day. (Got to get this one in again before Halloween.)

The old positron TF was pretty popular on virtue too. Not like it is now, but I used to see calls for the old, crappy posi on a daily basis.

A lot of that has to do with the level of the TF etc, but now with the new ones, add to the popularity of the old one, that the new one has all sorts of new maps, new content etc, you get a very popular TF.

Now they need to redo the Phalanx TFs, though even those are pretty popular these days..

Another thing to keep in mind is server population, I see virtue in the red a lot these days, more people means more of these things are going to be going off.

If only you were in my SG, you'd be asking why people don't run Posi1 and 2 more often instead of Hess, Manticore, Numi, Hess, Manticore, Numi....

But I'll echo what others have said: They're fun, interesting, and low level people can run them. Even today there are plenty of new people and people who are too low level to run some of the other TFs.
