Yeah, you guys need to get to AND maintain #1 on all servers.

The more people I meet, the more I'm beginning to root for the zombies.

Well, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we might want to maintain the
#1 spot on Virtue for a bit, first, while rebuilding the inf reserves back up...

After all, a couple days ago we were #7, and I'd imagine that a few of those
SGs may not take this lying down -- #2, for instance has also gone over
500M prestige in the past couple days.

Cheers,

This was such a pleasant thing to be a part of....

I logged in earlier than intended Tuesday and see we;re within 3 billion of #4. I drop 2 billion out of my intended 7 to put us within 1B. I figured Id let someone else push us to 4 while theres more people on...it was just me and Granny at the time. I come back two hours later and we're catching up to #1. I burn my 5Billion and we're close. Theres chatter, and I go scrape another billion together....(and by scrape I mean log out, log on, take down 1 billion bid, email to self, log out, log on..) and by the time I get back we've managed to take the number one spot. Color me impressed.

Happy Holidays to all....we have some really generous people out there in our group. Or bored, or wealthy beyond imagination...

To all those that say "Pfft....me and my group could do that.", please do. I mean no disrespect but the theoretical wasting of resources is a lot easier than the actual. Im sure many more are capable of burning that much inf....its the doing thats the thing.

Wow! I never in a million years would have thought that we would pop #1 this weekend! Now I'm sad that I'm on vacation in Hawaii for three weeks and can't log in to see the results myself.

Who am I kidding!? Mele Kalikimaka everyone and I look forward to the next chapter of hitting the prestige cap.

Ooh, a sarcasm detector. Oh, that's a *real* useful invention. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...t-sarcasm.html

WOW!

I am completely impressed by this accomplishment! If/when you decide to jump onto Freedom and run down the top spot there I would like to join that effort!

Congrats to everyone in the 88's!

Currently Playing:

Back on post #492 when we were discussing the Solstice Party, I thought
that the #6 position was a "realistically attainable" goal. I had NO IDEA
what you people were actually going to accomplish.

I'm completely flabbergasted - To paraphrase the legendary Queen of the Blues,
Koko Taylor, that was one hell of a Wang Dang Doodle we pitched tonight.

Less than three months ago, the Crazy 88's did not exist.
Tonight, they're the #1 SG on one of the most populous game servers.

Un-fricking-believable!

In total, it took 263.8 Billion Influence to achieve.
More than 128 Billion of that total was burned in the past 24 hours.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around tonight's accomplishment.

In the meantime, I promised some pics and here they are:

88'rs, it's an honor to be a part of the group. Not only is the firepit
keeping Granny warm tonight, but the very thought of what this group
did may well warm her heart for years to come...

Regards,
4

PS> Granny had planned to burn 1-2 Billion at the party - in actuality,
she roasted 6.5 Billion, and that doesn't even hold a candle to what
several of you guys did tonight - Incredible.
Congrats. Sliding in at JUST under the 3 month mark too.

Against groups that've been prestige farming for YEARS.

Way to turn turning it up to eleven up to eleven guys!

However, dumping Influence at the SG Registrar's desk is wholly at odds with what Prestige is intended to represent -- or, at least that's how our SG regards it. It is misuse of the Influence conversion system intended to help small SGs get over the hump to get that next piece of equipment, new plot size or base room.
nothing against Doc Viv personally, but this is arrant nonsense.

Who runs the Guardian 88's?
I'm happy to siphon some billions their way.

....well, once I *have* billions again, anyway. =P

@Cyvert but.. he doesn't want help I already showed him their event. I don't feel like trying to raise 100b before Jan8th though.

I've like Viv in the past, Raise the Rep and all, but the slams at the marketeers is a bit much.

Man, now I'm half tempted to roll a toon on Guardian.

Eh, having traded a couple of posts with her, I think that comparison is not really fair; I disagree with her but she's being a lot more rational than that other guy.

nah, I wouldn't want to rain on their party (it looks like fun, too bad I'll be working). It'd be more of a long-term investment in eventually eclipsing their total with dirty, ill-gotten prestige.

Actually she's wrong and right. Wrong in that yes the dev's intended exactly that players could dump excess influence and gain some prestige. No specific limits seem to have been set or envisioned on that.

Right in that I doubt the dev's ever intended for players to have so much influence at their disposal, and not anywhere near the amount that could be used to boost SG prestige by such relatively astronomical levels.

I mean c'mon. The fact that some of our coalitions, and some players, could eclipse a #1 SG almost any time we want, after them having invested 6 years of active and sustained prestige generation through what was the intended generation system ... well that does indeed seem quite out of whack.

There is some truth in that. Although I think it really comes down to the devs not anticipating that anyone would care about prestige totals beyond what it allowed them to purchase for their base. Remember that the original purpose of bases was for PvP with base items being destroyed in raids. In those situations total prestige earned would be relatively pointless compared to current base defenses.

In which case trying to intuit their "intent" is pointless.

The functionality exists so players will use it.

They keep boosting earning power without adding any commensurate inf sinks. What follows is entirely predictable.

Why?

The 'balance' in turning inf into prestige is the ridiculous, almost insulting conversion rate. That's why people don't generally do it. But if you don't care about that, what's to stop you?

Think of it like exp debt....which isn't that big a deal now, but let's pretend.
As a drag on levelling it's a "bad thing".
But if you're level 50 and you want the badge, the illogical becomes the rational.

As with a lot of things in the game my stance is if it's there, players will use it and dev intent is meaningless. MA isn't for farming, blah blah blah blah.

If they didn't want people buying their way to #1 they wouldn't have let us convert inf.

We're waiting.
Take our #1 on virtue then.

Seriously you go on and on saying you can do it. But you won't you're afraid to burn your money. Take #1 anywhere. I CHALLENGE YOU.
