What?

I agree. I'd also like the ability to attach decorations to my racks. The racks I have in this game are so smooth and featureless. I think they'd look much more appealing with little button-like bumps on them. They would definitely be more eye-catching that way.

What?

Everquest is currently running on its second game engine.

Considering they are back ordered for I20 AND I21, they are probably doing something so damn massive that it will require two updates. I'm going with a complete overhaul of old content. Sprucing up a mission here and there, playing with the war walls, etc. I could say something crazy like making Shadow Shard actually playable and a part of the extreme end game. Hell, anything is up for grabs here but just in general: complete overhaul of old content.

Whining about everything since 2006.

Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:

yes.

Long answer:
kinda.

Not everything in old content would be changed. Just a few missions would be updated, perhaps whole areas would be changed, etc.

But you can't stop them from knowing, anymore than you can stop the suns from setting.

Legacy zone revamp, knocked-down Warwalls using the new praetorean "smooth" zoning....

one can dream.

Primal Earth gets destroyed by Emp. Cole (or Vogons!), heroes and villains from Primal Earth manage to escape to Praetorian Earth just prior to destruction, we all live in a new expanded Praetoria, and Devs won't have to revamp any of the old stuff

You can't stop the signal Mal. But you can kill nerds with swords.

Swings and roundabouts.

Issue 20 will launch MAA, or "Mission Architect Architect". Players can create their own mission creation and editing system for editing missions. Player-created systems will be listed for use by others players, who can rate and reivew the systems. Other players using your system will earn you "ticket-tickets" which can be exchanged for tickets and ultimately ticket rewards.

Issue 20 will also feature Invention Inventions - new enhancements that can be slotted into invention origin enhancements to imporve their effect on your powers. For example, you can slot a set of six "Positron's Metagaming" into one Obliteration IO, increasing its effect on your PBAoE power.

Finally, Issue 20 will introduce the "Flash-Forward" system in a new zone named Soroboruo, where players can play story arcs that the Devs haven't invented yet and won't normally be playable until players achieve level 60, 70, 80 and beyond. The arcs function like mini task forces, where players' levels are increased to the minimum for each arc. Completing Soroboruo arcs earns you reward debits that can be exchanged for invention origin detractions, which can be slotted into powers to decrease their effects.

My three guesses what would require a written NDA and much more testing than other Issues:

1. Space and Moon zones. They'd have to revamp their game engine, flight animations, etc. to account for variable gravity. Considering how often Positron has said something like "if we redid all the old zones, we'd never have time to create the Moon zone", this is at least a possibility. However, I doubt this would require a written NDA.

2. Replace the Cryptic-created game engine with something newer, such as the one used by Aion. This might also be coupled with:

3. The "Coming Storm" radically alters reality, bending the laws of physics. This is the rational for revising the entire power-system to fix the "mistakes" that devs like Castle have been complaining about. Everyone gets to rebuild their existing characters from scratch using the new powers, while keeping their current level. Think of it as City of Heroes 2.0 without having to leave your current server.

Take no notice of me, I've just reached the maxmimum setting on my Boredom-O-Meter, where I begin to channel a mixture of Peter Venkman and River Tam.

I love your various posts. They are the awesome. Filled with Wit and Cunning, and even a little bit of Peter Venkman. Heh. Anyways, keep up the good work, it's hard to get a smile on my face in these forums, usually it's "That would never work" and "No they would never do that". It's so rare to see humorous ponderings that would never take place.

I like two pretty nicely. But three could be rendered un-needed if all the current variables are still in the new engine.

And from that point -forward- new powers could be created with the engine's new functionality in mind, or aspects added to the original CoH1 powers without removing functionality or breaking the cottage rule.

I don't like the idea of replacing the game engine with Aion's engine. I want to be able to fly for more than 30 seconds

Oh, agreed. But the clause "Such As" creates a nice disconnect, in my opinion. It leaves room for another engine, perhaps one with a fully realized physics engine part of the core material, rather than added on. =-3

Probably NOT bunnies this time. It's not too far outside the realm of possibility, though, to suspect there might be more than a few spider monkeys involved.

Well I was gonna throw in the towel on this game, but here it goes since its fun speculation.

1. City of heroes 2.0 sounds good 1 is starting to lose me.

2. maybe wrestling/grapple moves engine.

3. weather, storms blowing some with altering effects like falling down from a harsh wind,etc...

4. vehicles for traveling possibly

5. environmental damage and interactivity like picking up rubble or trees which is number 2 kinda.

6. maybe it will be AE's anniversary and they will let us fully customize missions, including a place button to place objects, buildings, baddies etc.. anywhere in the map, like base building kinda.

again, and someone said utter failure is i20, but im optimistic, and like the speculation part of the thread rock on thread dude.

Incidentally that limit had nothing to do with the engine.
I remember seeing wing upgrades that I'd never have enough kin to buy, but would've been sweet to use.

Issue 20 will have variant covers drawn by different famous artists and a set of holo-foil stickers inserted into the middle. Sadly, the stickers will be annoying because you'll need to remove them very carefully from the staples if you want the issue pages to remain intact - but hey any real collector won't remove them anyways since that will destroy the pristine value of the book.
