So, was this discussion/announcement some sort of veiled preemptive announcement of CoX's shutdown? Because that is exactly what is happening. The game is "Jumping the Shark". So sad.
-
Thanks man. I'm always doing that.
Must learn to wait wait wait.
I can't wait! I need that access! I.... *Turns a strange color and enlarges, then finds self covered in metallic armor* I WILL RAMPAGE!!!!!.
Ok.. Managed to calm myself. Anyways, thanks Diggis! -
Did I misunderstand and the Beta server isn't accessible yet? Because I tried to access it, and it says I do not have permission. The server was Beta 1 or something like that. Am I just too impatient or is something going wrong?

To Agree with Amy, if you have it in the 40's stick with it. My main and oldest toon on my account is a lvl50 Kin/NRG defender, and people complain about his kb all the time, and yet, I find him incredibly fun. The only problem there, is as a defender I would have preferred something that does -def or something to kb, so in the case of a defender, it's iffy. Corrs on the other hand have increased damage, and with the kb using hover becoming kd, it can become pretty sick. Just be careful, there is a power in there (I can't remember it by name atm) but when used not only causes kd when hovering above, but knocks enemies flying sideways even from above.
Edit: Coincidentally, it is my badge character. As Amy suggests. -
I actually don't see what he is saying as being a jerk. Speculation does mean jack squat. I mean, Yay! Opinions, and all that. But that doesn't help. Any solid facts out there about that? As much as I'd love to have the badges, I wouldn't want to buy them. Everything else? Yeah, I support buying the powers. I never thought that some of the rewards were at appropriate times. Boxer at such a late time? Who even wants to be a boxer, or use the boxer parts? That should have been in the martial arts pack or something instead. (I'm sure some people have interest in playing boxers or using the parts, but it's surely fairly low in the populations interest.) There are a few things that early on were great, but I doubt that people would pick them if they had a choice. I know there are things I would have gotten instead of a few of them.

EM, congratulations, we'll miss you though.

Quote:Thanks for the clarification Kheldarn. I haven't tried a popmenu that calls bindfiles yet, so didn't know that for sure.Nope. I have a Popmenu that is loaded with my modified keybinds.txt any time I create a new character. The last thing I do with it is use it to load the binds for the new character, as all my characters have their own bind file.
Once that's done, I can immediatly use any of the binds that are "new" to that character, i.e., they weren't in/were something different in the default keybinds.txt file.
It's very handy for setting up my Attribute Monitor, because I have it instantly reload after flagging an Attribute to be monitored. I just press 1-0 on my keyboard, and don't have to re-open the Popmenu. -

Quote:You can't call a Macro by name, that would defeat the purpose.Unless we're talking about different things, I'd say you're wrong, as I use them routinely. Have the macro execute the command and bind the same key you used to activate it to call a powexec_slot, which does the same and so on. There's no way I know of to call a macro by name, though.
To elaborate, you Can make a macro that loads binds, but you can't use that bind to change the macro etc. So once you use that macro, it would expire in usefulness (at least for what I was doing) because I want one macro or bind that does multiple things, not multiple binds/macro's that call on each other. That's more than extra work.
I don't remember why, but someone explained to me at one point that Macro's have limited usefulness because they were worried about people botting through them. -
Also, Quinch, I seem to remember someone in this thread mentioning that if you load a bindfile using a popmenu, you have to zone for it to work. Course, I could be wrong, and I wasn't the one who discovered that little tidbit.
I try not to use binds with popmenu's though. It's a little like macroing a bind. While it could be useful, its a nightmare in coding apparently, and just doesn't work too well.
(You cannot Macro a bind btw, that is what brought me to this thread originally. I discovered that the hard way. I wanted to Macro several sets of speech binds, so that my speech bubbles wouldn't get too monotonous and repetitive. I'd love to be wrong though) -
Quote:This post and This post Might have info that helps, but I think the main reason that it's not working is that you have "bind g" outside of quote marks, which means it is misunderstanding that "g" is your entire command. My memory of the code is very fuzzy, and it is 2:00 AM here so I am a bit tired, but it's possible that putting the " Before the Bind command might help. (Maybe) Good Luck, and hopefully you find the answer you are looking for.Gotta question {and it beats starting a new thread}. I'm trying to set up a popmenu that will bind a key to target mobs in a descending order of priority - bosses, lous, emanators, etc. Here's the menu code I've tried it out with;Code:
Menu "Targeting" { Title "Custom targeting" Option Hellions bind g "targetcustomnext enemy alive Damned$$targetcustomnext enemy alive Girlfriend$$targetcustomnext enemy alive Fallen$$targetcustomnext enemy alive Blood" Option Skuls bind g "targetcustomnext enemy alive Daddy$$targetcustomnext enemy alive Death$$targetcustomnext enemy alive Gravedigger" }

I found out that the new steampunk jackets don't allow sleeveless. And the Sleeved jackets can't use Resistance shoulder pieces. So my costume, that I thought was pretty steampunk, isn't possible with the pack the way it stands.Hopefully we'll ether get the SP jackets with sleeveless options, or we'll be able to use that shoulder piece with jackets that have sleeves.
Perhaps both, which of course, would be ideal. -
Quote:I read the forums regularly, I have a facebook account, that I am on regularly, and I do read the announcements that are posted. I managed to noticed the character slots, but not the server transfers. I somehow missed it.Conclusion: Several people who read the forum don't bother to read the announcements section.
Fact: Announcements were also made through other channels ( Facebook, Twitter )
Reality: Still not PS's fault.
The point that they are making on this thread, is there are a lot of naysayers who don't wish for ncsoft to advertise deals better. If that money is to help this game stay afloat and they want that money, they Should have advertised it better.
I personally wouldn't have payed for either, because to me, the concept of paying to trade a character over, isn't worth the time and effort. I would just make a new character on said server etc. Slots on the other hand, probably useful if I ever feel I have to hold on to Every character on the server in question.
Why do you guys feel it is important to quibble with the OP on his suggestion? There is no need to berate the guy. Seriously, People do miss the announcements.
OP, I have to agree with one thing that they are saying though. What would you like them to do to make you happy with the announcements? Where could they do it? /gmotd? I have found that isn't entirely accessible because it has failed to pop up for me on more than one occasion. I can pop it myself by typing /gmotd, but at that point I might as well have read the launcher statement or the website news. Email? Not reliable. Facebook? Sorry, but I don't read their facebook page everyday, I go on facebook to get together with friends and family, not to read up on my games.
The point is, they can't tailor the delivery method to the individual. They could have made the sale longer, yes, and they could have delayed or extended it past the date of the Global server merge. But as for locations of advertisement, it really couldn't have been improved much.

Quote:Thank you for this Info Bohmfalk, I was not aware of this. I do want to maximize my badgecount, I have missed enough non-replaceable badges as it is. This will help in my quest for badge greatness. One thing to remember, and this is very important for badge-hunters....you only have ONE chance to get the Efficiency Expert badge from Mr. Pither. If you fail, you cannot get it any other way. You need to complete timed mishes in order to get the badge, so if you might be interrupted for any reason, try this badge later.

Thank you Snow Globe, while all the posts were helpful, your's included Exactly what I was looking for. I am already villain, but I will move to rogue as soon as I am ready so that I may team with my buddies again. I can come back to villain once I am positive I have earned the badges for logging out, and I will be getting the Mayhem Missions etc while I am still villain if possible. If I understand you correctly I should be able to team with my buddies within a week if I am quick about getting those.
Thanks everybody! -
Quote:This list is helpful, but I found it lacking in one way, it doesn't accurately describe which ones can ONLY be gained by a villain. For instance, I was told that the SF related badges are only attainable if you are a villain, even if you can get credit otherwise. I was also told that you can't get the "Jail Bird" badge as a non-villain either. As always, the wiki is your friend. I believe this will be fairly close to what the OP is inquiring about.
Here is a link to a thread discussing some of that, but it seems vague, and was wondering if there was more info to be had. It lists:
* Efficiency Expert
* Bloodletter/Mirage/Spider's Kiss/The Stinger, plus the associated gladiator
* Usurper
*The Day Job badges are also amongst this list. You can get progress on them as Vigilante/Rogue, but only get them when you fully cross over.
*"Helping Hand" and "Keeper of the Coral" badges for completing the 2 new I19 arcs (Roy Cooling on Blue and I forget on red) require you to be a Hero or Villain.
This, is where the list ends, and I've compiled it from a few posts in the thread
My main issue is this seems fairly incomplete, and I was hoping someone had a more complete list. Or that they could verify my list is complete. It's time consuming to become a villain (and the timer doesn't even affect me as I can't play that much at once usually) So I really am hoping I'll never need to take him villain again. I love the switching system, but I prefer my badger to be blueside, and if further villain badges come out after I've gotten them all, it wouldn't be so bad to spend a week or two fixing that problem, but i'm looking at a considerable time investment if I try to get ALL the villain side badges before I switch back.
EDIT: Also, I realized a possible solution to me, but it is somewhat annoying. If being available to my friends is of utmost importance, I suppose I could go rogue for awhile, while earning credit for a large number of the badges, and then coming round the wheel back to villain eventually, but some of these badges only appear to be possible to earn as a villain, even counting credit, based on being the mission holder. Even doing this, I realize it is most likely going to take almost a year to attain all the villain badges, as a few of them are day jobs and are time consuming. -
I looked through the forums and couldn't find an answer, if someone knows where another thread that covers this subject, please feel free to inform me.
My badge toon recently went villain in an attempt to get all the villain badges he can, before he returns to hero. He might go Vigilante or Rogue at some point permanently, but until then, I have to find all the badges I can only get while being a Villain. I know there are some you can get from one of the three other alignments, but I am not informed enough to know which ones are Villain only. I know that the Architect badge Villainous is Villain only, and have gotten it.
Basically, I am trying to maximize my badge gain while I am Red-side as I would like to return to Blueside as quick as possible. I am unable to team with the people I would usually team with on this character, because they are all blue-side players.
Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.
(If there is just a list of badges that are only attainable to villains that would work, but if anybody wouldn't mind making a guide to how to obtain some of these badges I wouldn't mind that either.) -

Quote:I'm sorry for the necropost, but haven't seen this anywhere, so thought I would contribute.Quote:
I think getting the Heroic and Villainous badges in AE require a full alignment shift
You can also get Cunning on a Vigilante, as I just did this not 5 minutes ago. You can Earn the Villainous badge on other alignments, but don't receive credit until you actually switch to Villain. -

Even if I am late to the party, I agree with this proposal. I have some 10-15 characters that could benefit from this. I kind of like the closet idea, but it would work even better if we got our apartments we've all been asking for. (Ok I exaggerate, but not by much I think) If we had apartments we could chose a daily wardrobe of a few outfits, and return. Us people who have gotten the clothes horse badge on characters just to show off how much we like the character generator can't be all wrong. There is even the possibility to link it to some sort of badge system like the halloween event. Maybe visit certain places; have it linked to the zone badges? Something like that.
Anyways, have fun! -
I know this thread is sort of old, but I was having a similar issue. I did my respec, and didn't notice much odd until I did my slots. I got up level 44, and using mids do not have the same options for slotting as I did in mids.
Now it could be a weird quirk, as I HAVE the slots, 52 on the mids build and 52 on my toon, but my next power slots say 43 (level) but the power isn't even available to me yet.
So what I am guessing is that maybe Mids is messing up, and not the game. That or we are both not seeing it. It didn't give an option to chose a power at level 2, and slots seem gone. All powers are somehow accounted for, but maybe at one level, you chose a power instead of slots? Maybe that is why it is showing up. -
Quote:I have a similar issue. I can't find a kin/ combo that is as much fun as Kin/NRG, it's incredibly mismatched as far as capabilty, but the utility of kb is very fun with a defender. Especially if you know enough to stay out of mobs (when teaming with tanks especially) And then use the kb to knock mobs back into the "aggro zone".My first 50 was a kin/nrg defender. She was the busiest and I think the most fun toon I've had. But, alas, I deleted her a long time ago with the intentions of rebuilding her with a different secondary but I just couldn't find one I liked as much as nrg, even though it's such a mis-match for kinetics.
Quote:A totally awesome, highly underrated, somewhat frustrating, yet extremely fun powerset.
Anyways, I read your whole post, and I appreciate the advice with the power selections and IO slotting. I particularly liked the suggestion of getting holds. Everybody has their play styles and that totally fits mine.
I just wish we could make a reverse controller, defender primary, with some sort of control secondary. Not so good as a controller mind you, but useful none the less. -
Thanks for the advice. I am respeccing my second build tonight into what you have suggested here. I am going to give it a spin, and if I like it, it may just become my primary build instead of secondary... *shrug* who knows. I won't knock it if I haven't tried it.
You guys all have fun, and thanks for contributing to this thread.
(Any additional advice (from you guys or thread newcomers) is welcome, never know what I can glean from multiple sources.)
Edit* Took content from this post out. I didn't realize my last post showed up, I thought the thread ejected it somehow. -
Quote:Thanks again Stavros, I don't mind you telling me what is good, I don't mind that at all. I was just getting frustrated, because I don't plan on removing those pools from my primary build, thus your good advice would go unheedable there. It's frustrating to not be able to use advice because of being so self... bullheaded. My sentence structure is failing massively, but I hope the point is coming across lol.I don't intend to dictate playstyle, merely provide information that I believe valuable in using Kinetics to the up most based on my experience. Which is why the various pools and such were swapped around as above.
Thanks, will do. If I have the influence, at any point I will try your build exactly, and see if I like it. I will put it in my secondary build slot, because I am feeling fairly confident in my current build. I would like to have two wholly different builds anyways, so it sounds like fun to experiment with it. I really do appreciate the help. It is hard to express oneself using text when faces make such a big difference while communicating.
