The idea of a CoH MUD is amusing. I used to run a local one on a BBS. I still know how to set them up, if someone really wants it.

Lord Apollon
Apocalyptica - Harmageddon
Tomb de Samedi
Disturbed - Liberate -
It's handy for even the defensive sorts too. I run a mind/ff, my second toon ever in fact. Imagine being bubbled on top of a tanks defense. "Oh Hamidon....."

My theory for the Carnival of Light has to do with "what the heck do we do with these freed Seers?" They are powerful psychics, honed by their time with Mother into weapons. They would be dangerous for the Resistance to keep amongst their own troops, so they would be seperated into some kind of organization.
As it is now, they're being turned into Bombs, but with the elimination of Beholder, they need a new use for them.
As Vanessa is the lead Psychic, she would be the natural head of such an origanization, their own Longbow so to say. They would organize around her template, and I could easily see the masks they wear as ties to Vanessa for shielding. So, I'd easily imagine the Carnival of Light fitting into this model, being organized around levels 20-30, and being a full force on their own after 30. -
A bit of insight is to compare the origin of each world. In ours, the Rikti invaded. In theirs, Hamidon broke loose sooner.
I highly suspect that Vanessa was a soldier against Hamidon, until she retired to raise a family, putting the mask down. But when Penelope was taken from her, she struck a deal with Giovanna, and put on the Mask again.
In many ways, Vanessa is their worlds Sister Psyche, and Mother Mayhem is their worlds CoS Vanessa. In theirs, Vanessa is the benevolent, caring psychic protecting the people. And Mother, she is the soul-sucking leech. -
I'm partly done with a recording studio for my concert hall base.

I've solo'd him on everyone I've run so far. Blaster, Brute, Tanker, Mastermind, Dom, in that order. Each one had a different tactic, and he was laid out before each...
Of course the easiest time I had was with my Blaster. DMG DMG DMG DMG DMG "wait, I'll talk" -
Android. More Android devices than iPhone devices at this point. In addition, Androids core is Java, which can be made to work on the iPhone.
In short, it's easier to develop an app for Android then port it to iPhone, than vice-versa. -
That was a load of fun. I ran with Synapse while my 8 year old son ran with Dr Aeon.

I run a KM/EA Brute as well on Liberty. While yes, SR is slightly better defense, EA's auto resistance plus the clickies make it an incredible set, right next to my fire/fire tank. I built mine with that in mind, like my fire/fire or my DA/Mace tanker. The redesign around inherent stamina opened up more powers earlier for me.

I highly recommend Bernina sewing machines. They cost a bit more, but are incredibly durable and powerful.
Note, I do sew semi-professionally. My machine of choice is the Bernina, with Viking my backup. -
Here's one for $550 which will run CoH very very well:

Intel mode works with some serious effort, not for the layman. nVidia works, ATI is the best, yes.
-
I play with a similar setup, only mine is a triple core vs quad core.
I run with Ultra mode on, save water effects. I get 20-30 fps with it on high. -
@Umbral and Sensei:
You both realize that you're both right about the facts, but each one projecting your own opinions onto that.
As someone with both stone and invul, each one is better suited to something else. My stone is not a god, neither is my invul. I've had wipeouts while running Granite Rooted, it happens, which my invul would have walked out of without even noticing. I've had situations where the stoner would keep on trucking while my invul would be checking out the ants on the floor.
Does stone need a lookover? I'd think so due to it's bipolar nature. Not because of it being a godpower, which it's not.
It always ticked me off that Granite was not yet another layer of armor, on top of the regular stone armor. A kind of Unstoppable, but with lower bonuses and the tradeoff of lower speeds. Yes, it's Super Sloth, but that's part of Stones charm. -
Quote:This is not a bad idea, or even something simpler like a zone event spawn. Like, "Retrieve ritual summoning material" mission on Villain side spawns Adamaster hero side.As I said before, I love the idea of being able to create (relatively) real-time scenarios that will mess with or thwart the opposing faction. As to "how easy would it be to impliment," I'm not sure, since I don't know what would be involved in making a completed action one side have a consequence on the other side. But if there is a way, I am all for it.
It would have to be something tangible and threatening. Something that would get everyone's attention. Then the player could choose to respond or not to respond. The trick would be making it so that it did not intrude too much on the player experience of those that chose not to respond. To Steele's orbital strike example, perhaps a countdown starts, like the one you get when entering a PvP zone. Maybe it starts with 5 minutes, alerting every minute until the last 30 seconds, which would countdown the same as the PvP zones. Players have 5 minutes to "seek shelter," whether that is an instanced mission, exiting the zone, or being in an existing public building like a store or the AE. (I'm just brainstorming, not considering any consequences or downsides at the moment.)
But yes, I would be in favor of a way to fight the other side that does not involve going to Warburg and waiting for the Stalker to get me in the back. I want to hate and despise and be annoyed and frustrated with villains, not the players who play them. -
My sons ATI based MSI Wind netbook plays CoH and even has some Ultra bits turned on.

SERAPH has been completed, a complete redesign around todays CoH. No Vahzilok, primarily because those guys are the hardest to handle for anyone at level 1-5. 5 missions of them? Overwhelming. I avoided anyone who would run SERAPH due to this for years.
So, here is my replacement SERAPH arc: 470341 -
I suggested removing all XP from MA arcs, but then enable the purchasing of XP with MA merits. As merits are already capped per-mission, instant solution.

Quote:You really have something, and I hope a redname looks at it. Have you ever thought of making some AE arcs to demonstrate how such Longbow changes would look?glad you both like it. The idea occurred to me when people were complaining about how a lot of longbow feels like the Canadian Council. (which I think is inaccurate. They're Canadian Council AND CREY)
But one of the amusing things is that I had imagined one these "revamped longbow minions" who wouldn't really be much of a fighter would attack you with a flare gun, the flare gun would deal minor fire damage, but put a taunt aura on you that would draw the attention of the whole damn room.
Months later, we get GR and the ghouls, and lo and behold, look at what Painted Ones can do. -
I have toons I've chosen stone for *precisely* because of Rooted. I don't always like the graphics of the rest of the set, but rooted fits them so well I deal with the rest as a result.
To me, Stone has always been a set of "I am the stone, you will not move me." Rooted fits with that. The issue for me is the whole Granite/non-granite disconnect. It is 32 levels of pain with 18 of ease. I'd like it if the powers were brought more in-line with Invul or wp, with Granite being a "ZOMG" emergency power like MoG. -
Everyone seems to love my ELITE arc, but DATA still is just not there. It works, but it's not great.

Let's compare this a moment:
Mental Manipulation:
Subdual
Mind Probe
Telekinetic Thrust
Psychic Scream
Concentration
Drain Psyche
World of Confusion
Scare
Psychic Shockwave
So, we have:
immob
meele attack
Meele attack w/ knockback
meele cone
build-up
PBAoE Confuse
Fear
PBAoE attack
4 attacks, 3 mez, and one self-buff
Now, let's compare with Electricity Manipulation:
Electric Fence
Charged Brawl
Lightning Field
Havoc Punch
Build Up
Lightning Clap
Thunder Strike
Power Sink
Shocking Grasp
So we have:
Immob
Meele
PBAoE Aura
Meele
Build Up
PBAoE attack
Strong Meele
PBAoE endurance drain
Meele attack w/ hold
5 attack, 3 mez, 1 self-buff
So, in both cases, the first is an immobilize type. To get comparable with this, here is my adjustment:
Crippling Axe Kick
Storm Kick
Cobra Strike
Crane Kick
Focus Chi
Thunder Kick
Dragon Tail
Eagle's Claw
5 attack, 3 mez, 1 self-buff
