Kinetic Melee / Energy Aura build for feedback
Wow, i think we've grouped before, you on Champion? "Gypsy King" here.
That is a beautiful build man. How do you like EA on the blueside?
Only thing that i would worry about is it would seem like you need a filler attack, my Kin Melee toons always take the first three. I would probably run into end issues with that build, i just don't show my blue bar the respect i should ;P

With the recharge, I have a full attack chain, especially with Taunt, Power Siphon, and Energy Drain in the mix.
Kid Hype is already an Energizer Bunny at 38, and it will only get better once I hit 41+ and get into the Energy epic pool, so I'm not worried about END. Really, the one redeeming feature of Energy Aura is pretty much infinite END with very little investment. Even if I get down to one really tough bad guy (against which Energy Drain is sub-optimal), I can always pop Overload for the extra rec or burn a blue inspir as they tend to pile up since I never use them.
I chose to keep the t1 over the t2 on this character due to the fast recharge and animation; its a great opener and finisher. Normally the knockback would bug me, but I chain it with Focused Strike so I really don't notice it very much as I can range the opponent even if I knock them back and thus don't stall my attack chain. As a plus, most of the time, unless I'm just starting to build my fury, those two attacks will two-shot a minion. It also looks cool, and looking pretty is a big focus of KM/EA so you might as well go with it.
All in all, I'm really loving this character thus far; it's an almost optimal set up for my play style. I know that Energy Aura is measurably not as good as most of the other secondaries, and pretty much requires IOs to be competitive, but with investment its good enough to get the job done and works very well with KinMelee (IMO).
Oh, and as to how I like EA on blue side, it's pretty much just like Super Reflexes with +END rather than +Recharge.
EA Cons (compared to SR): It's much harder to softcap (and pretty much forget about psi). The autos aren't as good. Half as much DDR as SR (<---- this is a big deal vs some mobs). No inherent movement or recharge boosts.
EA Pros (compared to SR): Energy Drain; it's just a fantastic power. The combat stealth can be useful. Real edge case, but having a couple of Auto Res powers are good mules making it easier to slot some of the nice global effects in RES sets (Steadfast being the key one) and get some of the DEF bonuses in RES sets (though that's not really that big a deal considering the ease with which SR softcaps vs positionals). I think Overdrive is better than Elude, and still useful even after you softcap for the extra DDR, hitpoints, and recovery.
All in all, I feel slightly more squishy than my SR scrapper, but the extra Brute hit points and the click-heal aspect of Energy Drain compensate.

Thanks so much for this post. I wanted to try a Kinetic Melee / Energy Aura both out of curiosity and for a concept character. I tried one and took her to lvl 20 but it was a failed experiment. Now, armed with information from this post and i19 release, I am going to do another Kinetic Melee / Energy Aura.

I run a KM/EA Brute as well on Liberty. While yes, SR is slightly better defense, EA's auto resistance plus the clickies make it an incredible set, right next to my fire/fire tank. I built mine with that in mind, like my fire/fire or my DA/Mace tanker. The redesign around inherent stamina opened up more powers earlier for me.

I respec'd for i19 last night. I'll try to make time to get the current post-inherent fitness build into Mid's and posted up by the end of the weekend.
The good news is that, predictably, it's even better.
Here you go....this is the current state of Kid Hype (note that I'm filling in 4 non-essential IO's that I don't have yet but will within the week, but this is about 98% accurate).
Eventually I plan on picking up some other key IOs such as Numina's +Rec +Reg, and mabye replaceing Smashing Haymaker with another Kinetic Combat set. But...not really essential at this point as I have plenty of DEF and plenty of Rec and Reg.
I haven't figured out the Incarnate system yet, but I plan to angle towards increasing Regen and Recharge if possible.

Well, I figured out the incarnate system and got Kid Hype slotted up with the RECH / HEAL boost. Pursuing the incarnate stuff and doing the Apex and Tin Mage TF's (and re-doing ITF, STF and KTF for incarnate salvage) set me back a bit on picking up the last few IO's to complete sets; I got 2 of 4 rather than all 4. But, I'm all incarnated out and back on track to finish the build.
Overall, I didnt really feel much impact from the incarnate slot. It did help close the window on Hasten's recharge a smidge more, and it capped the recharge on some powers that were under ED, so I did get a benefit from it but the bonuses from IO sets is much more essential I think. Granted, it was really easy to get the t2 incarnate; just a handful of unlock missions and some TF's I like to do any way. Maybe the later tiers will change that equation.
Nice build - here's what I came up with for mine (pre-I19, haven't adjusted for fitness). Looks like you squeezed out a little more defense than I did, though I had been relying on slotting 6x Mocking Beratement in Power Siphon (which despite what was listed for the power wouldn't slot), which I thought was a bit better for bonuses than Gaussian's (not to mention MUCH cheaper). With a respec I might have to consider taking taunt and slotting MB there like you did. Not sure I'm thrilled about taking them all out of Power Siphon though. Not sure I want to pull them from the attacks either, I like the regen of Pounding Slugfest and have found that the Force Feedback proc fires fairly often.
edit: actually, I think what I'll do is pick up Taunt, pull 3 slots from Power Siphon, two from Body Blow, and slot 6x Mocking. Then I'll put 3x Rectified Reticule in PS and swap the Pounding Slugfests I had in Body Blow over to replace the Rope-a-Dopes in Concentrated Strike. And I'll pick up Hasten. And probably Conserve Power, too, reordering some things in the process (Energy Protection).

The Defense from Energy Cloak does not get partially suppressed when you attack. Just thought I would let you know.
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

Energy Cloak, Cloak of Darkness, Shadow Cloak (WS). Of course, sometimes I toggle it off (since I'm almost softcapped against S/L without it) just to remain the center of attention more easily (though now that I use Energy Drain as a taunt it's not as necessary).

This is my design goal for my KM/EA brute (currently a couple of pips away from 38). I'm blue side, if it matters.
I'm working towards this build already, though I'm subbing Smashing Haymaker for KC and DT currently.
I solo and team equally. By 50 I intend to be going +4, and though the multiple will likely be less than x8 (being mostly ST damage I don't feel the need to button mash against massive spawns) I should still be able to survive x8 if the need comes up.
I'm trying to avoid the Fighting pool on this character as I don't want to give up two other powers to get to Weave, and I don't want to use Boxing as it doesn't jive with Power Siphon.
Similarly, I'm avoiding Hasten and picking up as much recharge as I can thru LotG.
I'm slotting Energy Drain as a Heal even though it's technically more of an END management tool as I use it more as a ghetto click heal and its base END gain is already pretty good.
I'm mule slotting the two Auto Res powers with sets they can't reap the full benefits from for the set bonuses and the all-important Stalwart 3% DEF. I'm also picking up the Aegis Status Effect resistance, though its just a by blow.
Everything else should be pretty self evident.
Any thoughts?
