Apex, Horus, and War Witch
Rick Dakan is coming back? ;-)
EDIT: What issue did WW die in?
Y'know, the comic does end with the kheldian Horus saying he'd come back and War Witch said that there'd a new War Witch asking Apex questions.
Maybe it's time? |
I don't expect Dakan will return to City of Heroes.
I'm sure someone here will chime in with a spoiler for you, but the comics really are worth a read.
@Captain-Electric Detective Marvel The Sapien Spider Moravec Man The Old Norseman
Dark-Eyes Doctor Serpentine Stonecaster Skymaiden The Blue Jaguar

The answer is obvious: War Witch is holding up two fingers. That means they're going to announce CoH 2.

My Webcomics
It's going to be the War Witch Task Force which WW hinted at a couple months back. And unfortunately players will be certain to abbreviate it as WTF.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
So, here's a theory I just came up with:
- The players don't want New Zones, per se. They want the old cities to be overhauled to match Praetoria.
- The Coming Storm is Coming.
- The image is of a blown up city.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am betting 20 million INF that we are getting overhauled zones when key areas of Paragon City and The Rogue Isles are devastated.
Any takers?
I think this might be another case of players way over-estimating just what the hint is actually going to be about

I think the Blue King issues were more inline with the players game as Horus, Apex and War Witch was supposed to be players in Paragon.
Top Cow was ok as well. In those storylines you got a better feel for the background of the main heroes and the history of Paragon City. But as a player I liked the first line better as it showed the plights of a band of heroes just starting out. The very last page of #12 of the Blue King ones is my very favourite. //Jack |
For my part, I think I tended to enjoy the Blue King run better. They told the story from a perspective similar to the player's. These were run-of-the-mill heroes running into the same sort of problems you encounter as you play the game.
I think Top Cow's main fault was with how Freedom Phalanx has always been presented as being the premiere superheroes in the game who can handle anything. Statesman took a nuke to the chest, for Pete's sake. So, to see them transposed into the role War Witch and co. were previously in felt like a bit of a disconnect.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing them revive the comic. The main thing I would like to see them change with it, however, is to use the comic as a device to progress the in-game story. I always got the feeling that the comic and game existed separately as in-game references to the comic have always been scant (and even somewhat vice versa) with the stories having no impact. Having a comic accompanying the MMO is a fantastic way to tell more of a story than can be told in one Issue. It also allows things to be built up rather than just having all the content plop into the game one day.
Of course, it'd also give people more of a reason to care about the comic and read them. That's one reason I think the comic did poorly when it required a subscription. It's not like you were missing out on anything if you decided against reading it.
The Coming Storm!
I actually hope it is revamped Paragon City/Rogue Isles, but maybe that is a little bit outrageous.

Whatever this is going to be about, my interest is piqued! This'll be a great weekend.
Waaaay back in the summer of 2007, when I was unemployed with a boat load of time on my hands, I sketched out a bunch of stories as missions that ran from 1-50 red side as one story arc with individual chapters tied together when you got to the end. One of the mid-level arcs involved War Witch making a deal with Mary MacComber and the Cabal. The Cabal would restore War Witch to a physical existence in exchange for her help driving the Red Caps from Croatoa. The villain arc involved the attempt to stop this from happening and stealing the artifact being used, as it is needed for the grand plan in the story behind the individual arcs. The heroes succeed in bringing War Witch back to the land of the living but the Villains get away with the artifact they needed. I need to knock the rust off and get back into the inner workings of the AE building again...maybe once I get off these 12 hour night shifts.
But anyway, here's a vote hoping for some sort of War Witch TF/SF combo. If it came with a revamp of Boomtown all the better.
The Revenants and Vengeance Imperium-Triumph, Champion & now flavoring Justice!
Tanker Tuesdays & Brutal Thursdays. If you like fun, look'em up!
Shhh! Rangle is plotting.
Whether or not this particular announcement is about a revamped Baumton, I think it really shouldn't be left much longer. I mean, how long has Operative Wellman been sending Villains to interfere? The fact that villains get a more up-to-date map than heroes is a little odd, I think.
So, here's a theory I just came up with:

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

IMO, this pretty much confirms Apex being in a TF somehow.
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

I have a 50 in every AT, but Scrappers and Dominators are my favorites.
I'd agree that it's looking more and more like a War Witch Task Force, some that Mellisa has been talking about as a "wish list" item for a while. But with the edition of this second cover, a revamped Baumton or revamped New Player Experience for "classic" CoH and CoV might also be in the mix.

I always preferred the Apex, Horus and War Witch trio over the Freedom Phalanx. Really hoping this confirms some content involving them, been wanting to see Apex in game for a LONG time.
Maybe we're getting .... weapons and sheaths options for backs!
