All Things Art: 'Lost' Costume Pieces

All the old Rikti models are listed on the CoH Codex. I plugged them into a demo file a few weeks back but I um decided they were too ugly to work with. When the Rikti got the much needed upgrade the devs just renamed the old rikti models and put the new ones in with the old models name.

WHich is what they did not do with the 5th/Council.

There's anther set of models listed that I've never seen before, 6 or 7 chess pieces. I don't recall ever seeing these guys in the game.

But yeah, the Wolfpack bots really need some spit, polish and heavy graft engineering to bring them up to standard. As do the Council and 5th Column troopers themselves. They are looking incredibly low-rez these days.
Agreed. But I think Savage has said that the only reason they'd do that was if they had that much spare time or found an actual reason to aside from "It needs to be done to make the game not look 7 years old."

Hmm...interesting...experiments, maybe? Test pieces? (Pun not intended)

...
That sounds like good enough reason to me, but hey, I'm not calling the shots =/
I seriously hope a graphical and textural update (Yes, I know Ultra Mode was only recently, thank you) is in the works for a 'Soon' issue...sadly, I'm also not counting on it. I'm dead certain it would go a long way to giving the old girl some freshness, though.

I know it's not an overnight procedure by any means, but at this point CoH is in desperate need of a graphics overhaul in terms of older enemy groups and zones versus newer enemy groups and zones. Considering graphics actually are a large pull for gamers of today, I'd hope they are at least taking this matter into heavy consideration.

I don't have any screenshots, and apologize if these have been brought up, but there were two "Detail 2" options called "Bot Shield" and "Tek Shield" that I don't see anymore. I have them on two of my characters that I made when I first joined (and haven't really played since ). I always thought they were kind of cool though, and would be nice on one of my main's costumes.

A couple of months ago I made a Broadsword scrapper and the only parts of the costume that were visible were the hood, robe and gloves. It looked like a ghost since all of the body parts were missing. In the power customization editor the sword moved just like it would if there wasn't the glitch...Too bad I didn't get a screenshot

I say we add that to the game!

you know, browsing a certain image board a day or so back, I found this picture of these troops (probably from another game, so forgive me if this is a violation) that i thought would make for a really cool Fifth Column or Council appearance update:

on a random note, I would like to point out that the fifth column need to be updated and changed a little for better balance across levels. At level one you'll meet fifth column bosses that can and will chew characters up with chain guns, blow them up with rockets, stun them or keep them knocked down with powerful MA attacks... meanwhile, up in the fifties range on the opposite end of the scale, some of them are still shooting at you with basic pistols.

This may seem a little thread necromatic, but anyways...

I was just looking at some screenshots of how the game used to look and noticed a few things that aren't in anymore:

The pattern of the blue/yellow guy. The upper looks like the Diablo pattern while the lower looks like Sharp but with a white border....I totally need that white border, it doesn't have to be customisable, it can just stay white. Think it's on the gloves too. It's pretty neat.

This guy's shoulder pads, they aren't great lookin' but hey, the more the merrier.

Then theres whatever this thing this guy is wearing, some sort of mantle piece? He also seems to have the sleek shine thing goin' on on his face.

The dude in the yellow has some crazy chest pattern that I don't recognise.

Look how small the Warhulks are! They are so cute and tiny!

I think I could fit one in my pocket.

What the hell are the goons in the first screeny and what are they wearing? It looks cool.

Actually, out of all of those latest screenshots, I think the shoulder pieces are the most awesome and should make a come back. I could see some steampunk/clockwork/industrial use out of that.

I think ALL the pieces should come back, including all of those in the screenshots, but I particularly liked those shoulders!

I cant believe those pre-release screenshots.
They had (low quality) real shadows back in the day, even in instanced missions... Cant believe took them 6 years to have them the right way.

They almost look like prototype versions of Praetorian Clockwork.

They look like T.E.S.T. troops to me.

Well, David said that lost costume pieces should go here, and I have a fairly big one: A whole entire face! I only have a screenshot of it from the female model, but I can't find it on any of the three models. I'm talking about this face:

This face was there at least as recently as 146 days ago, which is the last time I logged the character who had it in. I can't tell at what point between then and now it was that it disappeared, but pleas, put it back.

*edit*
According to my costume file, the face in question has a system name Texture1 !X_Skin_V_Face_Reptillian_01, which reminds me that in the editor it was called Reptilian. The face is now gone and saved costume files which had it refuse to load. Not good.

---

Also, I don't think this constitutes a necro-thread. David made this one to report "lost" costume items, it's official, so I consider it still just as relevant now as it was back then. Hopefully, he hasn't stopped reading it when it sunk off the front page.

Just logged in to check and I couldn't find it on Female but had no problem finding Reptilian for Male and Huge.

I couldn't find it on the Male head, but I may have missed it. I do know for a fact it's not on the Female head, however, since my costume files that had it won't load any more.

Oh yes indeedy yes yes yes.

If my memory is being faithful, I believe the skirts used to have a straighter hemline. It would be nice to have that back as an option.

Also, late to the party but, another vote for the old thigh-high boots. Much better looking!

I have an old screeny of those boots too.

And on the first picture you can see the need for neclaces and other jewelry. Those barbwire model neclaces are not really original jewelry anymore.

I think we need a re-order of costume files over the whole spectrum. All ties and neck options moved to lower head or shoulder... not on both for instance.

- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

I have another one: Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't women at one point have access to the Alien Skull option for Full Helmets? I'm talking about this one:

Right now, only Male and Huge have access to the option, but Female characters don't. When did that happen?

Tow is right, the female Reptillian face has vanished off the face of the earth, I'd really like to have that one back.

Here's something that irks me that I just noticed: The monstrous option (which gives the character "claws") does not have any of the witch glove options from the Magic Pack.

I gotta ask, whatever happened to the Syndicate set? I was under the impression it was supposed to be part of the GR costumes but after some mention about something being off, it just sort of quietly disappeared. To my understanding it wasn't even a full set but still had a few pieces and patterns.

They were implemented to an extent. For example, you can wear a version of the Baron coat with a dragon on the back like Tub Ci, there's Syndicate patterns for the sleeves and vests I believe to the motorcycle jacket, as well as Syndicate pants patterns.
What we seem to be lacking are Syndicate sleeves for baron coats (the kind male blade masters use), Syndicate trenchcoats with the popped collar, possibly the back emblem on it too, and the Syndicate shoulder pads used by strikers.
There might be a few I'm missing.
