Why do people hate Comic Sans so much again? More importantly, why does LaserJesus worry so much about what other people have their CHV font modded to? I mean, I could understand if someone had snuck into LaserJesus's house and switched his own client's font to, say, Wingdings, but Comic Sans? I feel like I'm missing something here.

When I wanted a font modification that let me see the difference between uppercase I's and lowercase L's, I went to Georgia right away (the screenshow below is about 2/3 the size it should be because I didn't want to break the page too much - George has the advantage of being able to fit more text in the same amount of space while still being readable, which is nice when you have a rather busy UI setup like I do):

Could try Anime Ace or SF Toontime, though those might be all-caps. I saw screenshots using Comic Sans, and it was a little jarring (I didn't even know you could change the in-game fonts).

This seems as good a place as any to mention that I have a character named Comic Sands, an earth dom (rerolled him when Earth Assault came out). Part of my "Twisted Fonts" villain group. Maybe not as good as Zap Dingbat or Time's New Roman, but seemed natural.

Right. I'm officially throwing up my hands and giving up. I've no more interest in the anti-Comic Sans movement, beyond a mix of bemusement and frustration that enough people hate popularity enough for it to exist.

Well, there's always the fact that it doesn't look good. It's kind of like Twilight, really - if enough people like something that's bad, it will seem good.

I don't particularly mind Comic Sans. Just about any simple, readable font that allows for easy distinguishability between capital "i" and lowercase "L" would be better than the default font in the game. Whoever chose that font is due for a Penance Stare.

You wanted your game to look like a comic book, instead it looks like a scribbly mess. Get your game out of Kinko's and hire a professional inker to pen those menus! |
Comic Sans is designed not to be taken seriously and, given how serious you are about the subject, I think you really should relax before you have a heart attack or something.

You want to know why your suggestion fails miserably, LJ? I'll show you why.
It is something that you could have found out in less than a minute using dafont's built in display. The 1 and the i are too close at that size, and the lowercase l is nearly identical to the uppercase L. And that isn't even at 11-12 point.

My biggest complaint (and, no, it doesn't keep me up at night), isn't that it's popular, it's that it looks bad to me. I grew up seeing the comic book lettering work of greats like Artie Simek, Sam Rosen, Gaspar Saladino, Tom Orzechoski, etc, etc. Compared to them, this looks like, as someone mentioned, a little kid with a crayon.

I've always thought that changing your font at all was to differentiate between the letter I and the letter l; although I've never understood why Comic Sans is a big choice. It haunts my childhood.
I've also never looked into changing the in-game font. I kinda like it as is. But that font you've posted is pretty awesome. You may have convinced me.
