We need one of these in Paragon City...

NONSENSE!
That, clearly, should be in the Rogue Isles.
St. Martial, to be exact. It just wouldn't be /proper/ anywhere else.

One small earthquake and....

The water gets a little choppy.

It's just an optical illusion. The water isn't falling over the edge for 50 stories, it falls about 2 feet into a basin. The camera angle also makes it look seamless, when in fact the 'edge' of the building is about 10 feet from the 'edge' of the pool and even has a walkway.

(I'm in the hospitality industry and read an article in one of the trade magazines a month or so ago, it had better pictures.)

That said, I still wouldn't go swimming in it. For one, the wind would be pretty chilly up there. For two... well, the building is just stupid looking.
Am I the only one that looks at the it and asks why they parked a giant mag-lev train on top of those 3 cool looking towers?

No, you're not. Do you know why they did?

Yeah, I read the article. I was commenting on the fact that it's supported by three towers. One small earthquake and you'll have a lot of wet rubble...

One big earthquake is the mistake you're making here. Otherwise Los Angeles would be rubble several times a year.

We do know how to make tall buildings that are earthquake resistant, you know.

Dec out.

Paragon City is pretty good at making stout buildings too.

Go into any office building in the city. Notice how much unusable space is in there? Notice that there are no elevators on shafts long enough to reach three floors?

Our buildings are engineered so strong that they can have huge holes blown through them and be knocked 30degrees off of center and still stand. See Baumton "Boomtown" for proof.

Just one?

There should be several of those in Praetoria, Paragon and the Rogue isles. It'd be fun for RP etc.

Also, there should be night time in pocket D.

Only in Paragon if there are mini-warwalls around the edge. Also, I'd rather have a giant golden (or bronze) statue of Emperor Cole.

Actually, that would be cool right next to Emperor Cole's gold (or bronze) statue!

Yes, I don't doubt you do. I don't think LA has that many buildings with such a huge amount of water on top of them though. I'm sure you know what happens to water when it's sloshed around and inertia kicks in. That much water sloshing at the top of three buildings seems to me to be able to help them tumble down by the added momentum it would produce.

Either way, meh.

... Okay.. that is scary. One stroke is all it takes to take that final leeeeaaaaaaap.

But talking about water as long as they either add water element to the base builder (or can fix that slow field bug! The "water" now is ewww so dirty.) then I'd be happy.

They've properly thought of this y'know.

When building these buildings, they don't just go "let's build it and hope it works" they employ structural engineers and architects and any number of people to make sure the things won't fall down.

This is too cool of an idea for the devs to put it in CoH.

Unfortunately they also employ contractors who make money by cutting corners and issuing change orders. Not to say all contractors are shady, but some are, even when it comes to high profile buildings. Look at the World Trade Center Towers in NYC - somebody cheaped out on the fire protection foam sprayed on the structural joists. That change may have cost the lives of hundreds of people who would've gotten out of the buildings if they'd stood another 15-20 minutes.

Hmmm... What would happen if they made Pocket D a PVP zone and only told the PVPers... The possibilities are endless... You want night time in PD... You got it

Not to mention in other non-EU countries the building codes are a lot more lax and the corruption much more stringent.

Given the stringency with which Singapore enforce their rather strict laws, it would take a very brave cowboy builder to cut corners on this particular project...

I should mention that we don't get earthquakes here in Singapore. It's actually one of our selling points.

The most we get are the mild tremors from the earthquakes nearby in Indonesia. All tall buildings (and we definitely know how to build tall buildings) are resistant to high wind speed, which helps with the resistance to tremors.

Having said that, our general reaction upon hearing of that thing more or less ran along the lines of "lolwut".
