Best usage of Reward Merits?

I was wondering what's the best use of my merits that will get me richer. Should I use them to get highly coveted IO's (i.e, Numina's + Regeneration/Recovery or LotG: Recharge) and sell them or use the merits on random recipe rolls? Are there any other IO recipes that go higher than the 2 that I listed? If I were to go for random recipe rolls, should I roll the lvl 47-50 ones? Thanks for your help guys

From what I've heard, the general consensus is to roll random rolls in the level 35-39 range, as they yeild the highest profit on average.

This can yeild things such as Miracle: +Recovery, Kinetic Combats, and many other coveted recipes that cap at level 35 or 40.

Other uses could include direct buying a Miracle: +Recovery at level 20 or Luck of the Gambler: +Recharge and selling on the market, but random roll used to yeild more return at the last time someone did analysis, as I recall.

That's a lot of random rolls.

I say do the rolls, you'll probably make as much, maybe more, maybe less, but at the very least you'll be supplying the market with 10 or so IO's (crafted or recipe) which is a good thing.

I personally haven't had any luck with the radom rolls lately. For a while I got Numi Reg/Rec almost every time, but Now I do not get much of anything... TOD Trip is probly the best thing I have gotten on a random in a while. I used 180 merits on the 6th Anniversary party, I got a bunch of just and 1 BOTZ Knockback which is worth about 100mil. I'd almost rather just spend 200 merits get a 7.5 and sell it for 200 mil.

There is something to be said particularly redside for rolling 30-35. Basilisk's gaze quads were pretty much non existent among other things there and would sell for a fortune.

When I did a largish scale test, I did better buying specific recipes, but this conflicts with other peoples' results.

Then again, last night I rolled a dozen times and got 2 numina uniques, a LotG 7.5, kinetic combat triple and impervium armor resistance (as well as a couple of pounding slugfest procs which will also sell fine).

The one thing that is essential if you are doing this for cash is to check the prices for the recipe and the crafted enhancement, 99% of the time it pays to craft before selling.

Apparently the best use for them is for you to make as many random rolls as you can and then put everything on the market so that other players can get recipies easier and cheaper and aren't forced to grind Task Forces.

If you don't use all your merits regularly or you personally use any of the rewards you get you are ruining this game!

Always craft what you roll on, and I can vouch that the profit is almost ALWAYS good.

Then again, my girlfriend rolled 760 merits at 30-35 and only got two LOTG +Rech and one Numina +Rec/Reg in all that. A few kinetic combats though. I just expected to see more.

I roll randoms, starting at character level 30, in recipe range 30-34, and I sell the ones I can't use. I live what I preach. I do all right.

Ok. Thanks all. I suppose I'll try out the random roll'ing. So would people agree that the lvl 35-39 range is where most of the good/expensive recipes are?

i don't roll randoms because it's a hassle to sort, craft then list. Rather just pick one, craft one, list.

I enjoy random rolls in the 30-34 range.

Everything else aside, its fun. There's the anticipation and the highs and letdowns that you don't get with accumulating a large chunk of merits and then blowing it on one recipe. I've done both. I've had great sessions and bad sessions with random rolls, but I'm rich enough in game to not really care when things don't work out.

I've never seen the appeal of gambling in real life, but I do enjoy stuffing all my virtual earnings down the poker machine, just like I used to in Diablo II

To the OP: As has been mentioned, it's very close between random and specific. My last few data points were luring someone into rolling a little more than 40 times. They got, I think, slightly more than 20 million/roll on average. Random rolls are random, and the really big money was in about four recipes last I looked.

If everyone did random rolls and placed them on the market, it would be better for the community as a whole. More supply and generally lower prices.

I'm not saying anyone should or shouldn't do that. It's entirely your choice.

I do a little bit of everything. Occasionally, I will make a lvl 25 LotG +7.5% and sell it. Sometimes, I roll a bunch at 50 to keep the bins full for toons as they come up. And sometimes I'll buy and craft that last IO I need to complete a build.

But, lately, I haven't been doing much of anything. I'm nearing 10k unspent merits on my small batch of active TFing toons. I probably get near 100 merits a night, on average.
