Just had the most fun in game that I've had in a long, LONG time. . .
Nice story, its just a shame most of the community nowadays would rather sit silent in a farm in AE than actually do things like this :/
The last time I did a sewer run, eight of us entered in Atlas. Seven of us exited in Boomtown, and all of us were at least level ten.
It was the best sewer run I've ever had, in every sense of the word.
Very cool!
I love teaming with people that like to have fun and know how to play (and aren't afraid of dying once or twice).
Good luck and hope more comes (for you and all of us! ).

That is a great story. When you get on a good PUG and things are rocking, you just don't want it to end. For whatever reason, there is a synergy and everyone plays as if they were one. Baddies get defeated, levels are gained and as you say, it is the most fun evar.
It would be nice if it happened more often, but we would not appreciate as much, alas.
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
Holy crap, Melan. Your +rep to my post gave me like a bajillion green rectangles.
But yes, I'm hoping I get to team with my new friends more often. I usually solo, and I get bored of soloing by about level 7 or 8. Since I got my new alt to 11, I'm finally dabbling into crafting IOs. I was able to get my 50 to craft a few level 10 sets dirt cheap.
Man, I've only pulled off a full sewer run twice, and we only managed to make it to King's. The fact that you made it to Boomtown and the group managed to stay together is a great accomplishment.
I sometimes worry this game is getting too complicated; between AE farms, IOs, playing the market, TFs, merits, Ouroboros,Castle destroying pvp and so on and on and on, I thought that today's play session was a refreshing nuggest of nostalgia. No IOs, no missions or contacts and no mission bonuses. Nothing except some straight-up group hunting, and I had the most fun in CoH that I've had in a long, LONG time.

Otherwise I spend most of my time running TFs and missions with friends, and when they're not around I run on the occasional pickup team. Even then my experiences mirror the OP's more than yours.
I don't know what server you're playing on, but with the terrible hit experience has taken with most arcs, are there still people farming AE arcs? If the people you play with are just sitting around in AE you need to find some new people.
Pro Tip:
If your team is finished with the 'Atlas' sewers, move to the Tunnels of the Trolls (entrance through the Hollows).

Atlas -> Kings is where I usually manage to make it with a team, which is always fun. But to Boomtown? Thats pretty dang neat
And yes, Sewer teams were, are and always will be an awesome forge for new coolness.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

nice story.
I love teams with a heavy troller bias... just lock everything down and watch it die.

I love sewer teams. I think its a major factor in my altitus. I don't know if its the fast leveling or the shiny new powers or the complete lack of fear of death (and debt.) Everyone feels a little looser (maybe too lose sometimes) just there to screw around and have some fun. It's also where you see all the nutty concept characters that haven't made it to the chopping block yet.
My personal best on a sewer team was getting to level 14 (thank you, super sidekicking!) and strutting my badass self up do Valkyrie and getting my travel power.

Street_Wolf,
That story made me want to go team.
Be well, people of CoH.
I have found some good teams like that recently. It makes me remember what it was like when I first started playing years ago-when people were more excited to mish for levels and every night you would get a few more people on your friends list.

This is the most beautiful thing I have ever read. THIS is the reason I play the game.
Whoa.

TrueMetal wants one or the other: People should make up their minds. Either AE is dead, OR everyone is in it farming. You can't have both. |
Dec out.
Maybe we should pick a server and jump in the sewers guys.
When I'm feeling bored or generous I go into the sewers on a high level buffer and give the teams a bit of a boost.
I used to do it on my Tanker too, except now I keep accidentally killing people with my taunt. Curse you, Perfect Zinger!

It all started about 3 hours ago; I'd rolled up a new alt; a controller for a change. I went with Ice/Storm because I liked the synergy of cold powers between the two sets.
I start my character off in Atlas, and like usual, I hunt a couple levels. Within 10-15 minutes, I was level 3, and I was about to start up a sewer team when someone beat me to the punch, so I ended up joining her team.
There was 8 of us, 1 Tanker, 1 Scrapper, 1 Defender, and 5 Controllers (including me.) Right off the bat, things looked fun.
Things start smoothly and like normal. Early on, we had one or two KOs, but we got each other back on their feet quickly and kept chugging along. With 5 controllers, we had a heckuva lot of statues instead of enemies.
Level 4, level 5, level 6, ding, ding ding. Everyone was leveling, and we were having fun. Before long, we were all getting friendly and started talking more (as opposed to that normal PUG silence). We were laughing and making jokes, and soon enough, we had hit the bottom of the sewers. This is where most sewer teams I've ever been on, scratch that, ALL sewer teams I've ever been on, have stopped, called it a day and everyone would run off to get themselves killed and take the pain train back to AP.
But this group was different, 7 of us stayed and decided we'd keep pushing on. Instead of going without a goal, we set our sites on Boomtown. I figured it was just to give us a common direction to go. I never thought we'd reach the Boomtown gate without a team wipe or a few quits.
Still we chugged along, lots of holds, lots of kills and lots of laughs. We were getting closer, the marker's number kept shrinking. .75 mi, .60 mi, .50 mi, 800 yds., 750 yds. We never got lost, and we were burning through the mobs. At this point, I was about level 9 or 10, which in it's own right was a personal best for one sewer run.
A scary moment came; it was the middle of a fight, things were going along like normal. We had drawn aggro from two mobs on accident, and I said "It's ok. We won't die. 8)". Not 3 seconds after saying that, everything stopped. I think my heart actually skipped a beat, and a few seconds later, the message I did NOT want to see showed up: "Lost Connection to Mapserver".
I was sad, like, legitimately sad. I didn't want to quit. I sat there a few minutes and just looked around at the action that was frozen in place (and not just the enemies I had frozen in place). I was about to write down the names of the characters I was teaming with so I could /friend them later when all of a sudden, the screen popped back to life!
Everyone had gotten it, but we were all there. (Sans the scrapper, but she got back on within a few seconds). We cheered and kept fighting hordes of Lost and Hellions. That Boomtown gate kept getting closer; 500 yds, 350 yds, and so on.
Eventually, we got to the last sewer ramp that lead up to the gate. We polished off the last mob standing by it and we all rushed up and out the gate.
This is where I knew something amazing had happened. I looked at my clock and it had been 2 hours since I'd started playing my alt. For me, to put 2 hours in on an alt that quickly means a lot. The 7 of us stood in Boomtown. We began to run north to get to some higher level enemies.
It's funny. I was level 11 when I got out of the sewers and into Boomtown. I didn't level once when we hunted in Boomtown. In all honesty, the spawns were absolute crap in Boomtown, but what made it worth it, that entire 2 hours, was seeing me and 6 new Global Friends running in a line through Boomtown, past fighting 5th Column and Council troops and Clockwork building who knows what. That made it worth it.

tl;dr, I'm not making a tl;dr, go and read it for 5 minutes.
