What is obscenely rich?

These days, hitting 1 billion or even the Inf cap of 2 billion just seems old hat. You can do that with a single lucky PvP IO. So I was wondering, what total Inf value do people consider filthy rich, and what does it take to be obscenely rich? I'm talking across all characters, slotted IOs, outstanding bids, stuff in base storage, red and blue side, etc. I'm thinking 20 Billion Inf would be considered Filthy Rich, while 100 Billion would be Obscenely Rich. I'm guessing a lot of the farmers and Marketeers here are at least Filthy Rich, while a fairly small number are Obscenely Rich. At least that was my intent in suggesting those values. And of course this is a moving target, as market changes can significantly affect total worth if it is based on slotted IOs. But what do others think about my arbitrary dividing lines?

And more importantly, are you Filthy or Obscenely rich?

Anyone with more money than I could imagine making is obcenely rich. Or were you talking in-game? Doesn't matter, still applies.

I'm personally considering 20bil as the new monocle-and-tea level of wealth.

The game isn't over until you have every market slot taken up with a 2 billion placeholder bid. After Issue 17, it's not over until you have every market slot taken up with a 2 billion placeholder bid and all 20 of your emails with 2 billion inf attachments.

At that point you become an honorary Smurphy and must post a picture of your character wearing a pink bunny suit.

I'd consider 10 billion and 50 billion to be the limits, myself. But I myself am merely Upper Middle Class so what do I know?

With that said is there a filthy obscenely wealthy option?

If you can afford to put together, on a whim, a build that involves the most expensive purple and PvP IOs out there, then you're obscenely rich. You'd be talking billions upon billions at that point.

I probably couldn't do that. I may have 15-20 billion spread out over all of my characters, at most. What that allows me to do is IO out any new alt I want to, within reason. I've only "purpled out" two toons, one heroside one villainside. (One purple set does not equal "purpling out" of course).

I've never purpled out a Warshade, although it's still one of my eventual goals. ^_^

If I were to strip all the IOs off all of my toons and sell them, then yeah I probably have considerably more than 20 billion. But at some point I make money only to IO out my toons. I've hit 2 billion on at least 3 toons now, I have multiple toons that hover around a billion that feed my alts with cash, I don't plan builds with PvP IOs, so I don't feel the need to earn billions more. Anybody with significantly more than that is obscenely rich to me.

I'd have to say upper middle class would be around 5-10 billion, that would be similar to 75k-200k a year income professions. 15-20 billion would be similar to folks that might make 300k-1.5 million a year and that would be high class. Above them in the real world would be a good amount of wealthy folks that are corporate CEOs, various celebrities etc. In COH terms this area would be 25 billion to say 40 billion, and nearly the tip of the iceberg. Then you'd have the true bill gates like people that have more than 40 billion, of which there is probably a fairly small amount.

Myself, I tend to range in the 15-25 billion range depending on spending habits at the time.

Practically speaking, anyone that can make more than say, 400 million a month, would pretty much be perfectly capable of acquiring anything over some time without much hassle. They wouldn't be *ahem pardon the euphemism* able to 'just throw it in the bag', but people do have lives outside of COH while others of us may not be as busy.

Filthy Rich = BUY IT NAO for a character decked entirely in Purples and/or PVP IOs

You're filthy rich if you can put up 20 billion inf to commission some MA arcs.

I'd say if someone could just go out an blow 15mill on a toon right now, then they're rich. I reckon someone who could respec out recipes from there toons an hit 50mill is pretty well off lol.

But inf means nothing as the games been around 6 years an you can buy inf/imf externally for very little £/$ etc.

The pvpers usually have sick toons but they respec out the decent stuff every time there's a new FoTM. The well off people are those with 10-20 toons decked out an fully io'd.

I on the other hand have like 16-17 50s, but only 2 are fully pimped beyond limit, the rest are all either unslotted or IO'd for under a bill. I wouldn't say i'm rich though, purely as i play alot an if i didn't have the cash i did it would be pointless playing at all.

Wealth is subjectory anyway.

... in other news, I may in fact be filthy rich by either standard. I hadn't done an inventory of my cash lately. Oops.

Offhand I'd say I'm Slightly Grimy Rich.

But I've started purpling out the Goat, so this state of affairs may not last.

I've been curious what exactly qualifies for filthy rich as well. I have quite a bit of inf liquid on both sides and was hoping to run an event in July with some serious give aways in St. Mart. Would 20 billion in total prizes still excite people or should I go up to 50 billion?
