Actually Prestige Classes are levels that you take in place of normal levels. In CoH terms they are more like power pools. You are giving up progression in your main class in order to take powers not normally available.

incarnate Levels sound more like Epic Levels. You gain new abilities but no longer follow the standard progression (admittedly it's a stretch).

True, my hope is that the powers are designed in such a way as to allow us to give RP reasons for them that are non-magical. So the powers were gained in part due to magic but are not themselves magical. For example:

After drinking from the Well of the Furies you are granted a vision where your spirit leaves your body and travels up Mount Olympus. There you are greeted by several legends from ages past who teach you new techniques. When you awaken the memories are faded but the knowledge remains. You will need to practice these techniques before you can use them in combat...

You drink the Well of the Furies but to your surprise it doesn't seem to do anything. Dejectedly you return to your workshop and return to work on sketching out some upgrades for your armor. To your surprise you find your hands moving of their own accord designing equipment that you would never have considered. After some research you realize that you must have been imbued by the spirit of Hephaestus increasing your skills as a craftsman.

Essentially the magic of the Well of the Furies is providing inspiration for non-magical ways for you to increase your power.

Seriously, though, I saw a great DBZ rip-off toon (years ago). The guy yelled, toggled on a fire shield (he was a fire tank), changed costume to the spiky yellow hair and flew off. It was flawless.

While we don't know what exactly the Incarnate levels will provide in terms of bonuses, or exactly how they will be acquired, I think that there are some things that can be predicted.

Someone will complain that it's too easy to get.

Someone else will complain that's it's too hard to get, or is a slap in the face to casual players.

If Incarnate bonuses are broken up by archetype, someone will complain about why archetype X doesn't get Y. (The corollary to this is that Redside will complain that Blueside has it better/easier.)

If they aren't broken up by archetype, someone will complain about that.

And there will be obligatory "Why do I have to do this to get Incarnate levels?" (Included in this is the whine about having to buy Going Rogue.)

Wow, that was rough, Sharker. Did my best.

You might want to run through Percy's arc in Croatoa again. Actually a lot of the players complaining about it doesn't fit the origin or my character should run through that particular arc.

It's hinted at, quite strongly, that the Origins are all linked, in some fashion. It's also hinted at that of the currently known Power Origins, haven't always been the Power Origins "in effect". Mutation Origins, for example, did not appear until the first splitting of the Atom in CoH's continuity.

How, or why, the Origins are linked and/or created isn't explained in the game's current lore, and it might never be fully explained. Much like Calvin and Hobb's "noodle incident", leaving the determination of Origin's to the players imagination may make for a better player fantasy, then spelling out those determinations in detail.

I'm really mostly interested in the rewards given. I can't imagine what else could be added to the game to make our 50s better but then again I never could have really imagined them adding the crafting system with it's set bonuses and such.

I would love a chance to play my level 50 some more. I spent so much time leveling the guy but now I really gotta try to kick myself in the butt to ever try to go play him again. But hey, I have complete faith in the devs, they've never really added anything that's dissapointed me yet and most of it has surpased my expectations. I guess I'm willing to wait to find out more....

....is the wait over yet??

dont try to translate it you cant handle the drunk. Some things are best left alone.

anyways

I think the addition of new powers or extra powers or extra slots to the 50plus crowd will be very nice and certainly get me playing my 50s again. I look forward to it, I appreciate it, i am very pleased to know its coming and i hope that its a very thoughtfull expansion to the content of cox.

There have been many times when i would love another reason to play my main and at the moment i am out of them. Hes out of contacts and ive run the tfs so many times on him id have 10x tf commander.

Its just nice to now that there still thinking of end game or new content for 50s.

To all the DOOOM'ers at least there will be something to do past GR with toons that are allready iod, badged, with accoladies, at influ cap, and boring atm. Only reason i log him in for the next 42 days is that i got 2 more day jobs to finish

First thing I thought of when I saw that video was, "Oh boy, here come the jedi."

As for Incarnate levels, was any mention made as to whether they would only be achievable by characters who never switched sides? I think it was mentioned a while back that there might be special rewards for characters who never side-switched, but things change over time.

I hope it includes badger hunters. I mean, I don't have anything against them. Heck, I am one. But the phrases 'a slap in the face to badgers' or 'hordes of angry badgers' never fail to make me smile.

*Whew!* I'm glad I've never hunted badgers in this game, then. Now badges, on the other hand, are a different story.

I have a rarely used toon in game named Master Hoshida who would love a little Energy Melee to go with his Martial Arts.
