It would be very cool to have a foe that, if you engage one others in the area get an aggro range bonus (say an "aggro range boost" that extends 100 feet and triples the aggro range) and come after you. It would make them a particularly challenging foe to fight because you'd have to be very careful about your movements and when and where you engaged them or risk massively overaggroing.
Hehe, I'd LOVE that. So would my /SR and /shield scrappers, they've been waiting for a challenge and would happily dive down there and attack everything in sight.

I personally don't like the Ghouls.

And here is where I think they're from...

  • Ever wondered what happened to the Dr. V extra parts? Looks like it went to the Ghouls.
  • I use to wonder where zombies went, that we defeated during the Zombie Apocalypse.
  • Ever call zombies being on your necro and they didn't come? They were sent to Preatoria to become a Ghoul!

After all those, we get a group called The Ghouls, who have no real visual appeal besides
looking like rehashes of in-game groups. Sure, they get nice leg and wrist bands, but in the end they just look like zombies....

Sad...

I like the writing on the website. It makes the characters sound interesting!

I just hope the storytelling ability continues into the new missions. Because I honestly won't care if they're new Ghouls or old Abominations if we simply enter the sewer to kill 10 of them and free a captive.

Really hope those screenshots of the ghouls are from new mission maps, because they do look VERY dingy [in a cool way!]

Ahhh i only just logged off the game now you make me want to log back in!!!

I do think they're somehow affiliated with Dr. Vahzilok.

It would make sense if he was ordered to flood the underground with zombies, or was just given free reign to do whatever his "evil" (Dr. V was TECHNICALLY a good guy) mind felt like doing, in order to get to the resistance. Instead of sending people to try and sniff the Resistance out, it makes far much more sense to just flood the place with zombies to keep them occupied/dead.

But Dr V wanted peoples parts, these ghouls are actually killing/eating people.

I say that they're tyrants men. He's ruthless right? So anybody that does disagree with him gets tortured/locked up/whatever until they are weak enough to be controlled by those gadgets they have on them.

Simply release them into sections of the city with members of the resistance and let the people defeat the people without him lifting a finger.

It sounds like they might have Vengence like the Nemesis lts.. which makes them
even more scary as an opponent.

Dr V in our world wants parts, he makes people to get more etc.

Why would Prae V do this? What if he is a scientist working for the good of people? What if he made a serum that could help cure and illnesses. While it worked for a short time they became the Ghouls we will see in GR.

Will it be player available when GR goes live?

I noticed that to and thought I woud love that holster thing to! If players could get it it also suggests (please note speculation begins here) there may an introduction of asymetrical leg pieces.

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

Ghouls = Dr. Vahz experimenting with Banished Pantheon?

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

Personally I doubt the Ghouls are related to Dr. Vahzilok. If Dr. V is in Praetoria at all, he'd probably be helping the Resistance and not be involved with anything like these Ghouls. I bet that they're connect to something Tyrant and his buddies have been doing to the citizens of Praetoria.

You take away Zombie Apocolypse only to add them to Going Rogue. I want the Apocolypse back, no one seems intrested in "Supernatural Activity"

Yeah, I figured they probably have Vengeance. I'd also assume they have mag 100 Fear protection and slow aggro degradation due to the description and design.

I would really like the ghouls to be Unrelated to the Praetorian government entirely.
They'd be an exmaple of how imperfect the praetorian government really is, Like the syndicate still being a crime organization in Praetoria.(I WANT TO SEE THEIR MOTORCYCLES!)

Praetorian PR Rep:"Those Resistance leaders are crazy! we have no crime or war or trouble in Praetoria!"
"What about the Syndicate?"
*PCHEw!*
*carries dissenter off*
PR Rep: NO trouble!
"Well.... what about the Ghouls?"
PRE rep:"......"
*PCHEW*

One notion I entertained on reading that was that ghouls might grant a temp power on defeat--an auto Taunt aura with a large radius that only works on ghouls. Even nastier, maybe they could grant a power that automatically summons a Teleport Foe-like pseudopet, which taunts once, then vanishes, passing its aggro to the summoner--that way, the taunt effects could stack.

Of course, if we're going to try to guess powers from flavor text, we can play with some other bits, too. "It's only when the shadows are deep and the tunnels are quiet that you should worry" and "you can't frighten them" could mean they have Shadow Fall, with its group stealth and massive fear resistance. That's probably reading too much into it. (Though I'm sure they'll have high fear resistance/protection of some kind.)

The Way of the Corruptor (Arc ID 49834): Hey villains! Do something for yourself for a change--like twisting the elements to your will. All that's standing in your way are a few secret societies...and Champions of the four elements.

Hmm. I remember the Praetorian Clockwork that 'don't mess with you unless you mess with them'. And now we have Ghouls, for whom 'killing one of them just makes the others angrier'. Perhaps the aggro mechanics in Going Rogue have been reworked?

Good!!! Would make teaming a bit more of a challenge again! No more hiding behind the tank in safety hopefully!

I really want going rogue now I just can't wait to see what else is packaged up in this expansion and knowing that WW is in charge now I can see a lot more goodies being packed in there and in the future.

I really hope that we will get some more story progression for the main product too.

The Ghouls kind of remind me of the Neo-Men from the old DC Comics Camelot 3000.

You're all forgetting something significant about Dr. V in that he perceived himself as a Good Guy. Praetorian Dr. V, as a fully evil bad ***, might have decided to put his medical knowledge to a far more sinister application than 'Good Guy' Dr. V, who was already pretty far off into the ****** up territory.

It's fully likely that Praetorian Dr. V is working *for* Tyrant. Tyrant gives him access to dead bodies, likely people who have stood against him, and sicks him upon the sewer system where he knows the resistance is gathered. It's a win/win for everyone, really.

Assuming he's behind any of that at all, of course. It could be something we've never even heard about, but the giant red collars point to a 'tech' based aspect, and Dr. V is the most obvious person to have scientifically created undeath.
