I never said this game stinks, what I am saying is we have had light issues for quite some time, since Issue 12. And, while that obviously excites some of you... I just think its time we get some really good issues, like we used to.

I wonder how many free content updates other MMOs give to their playerbase...

No matter how many long-standing items the devs check off the playerbase wish list, it will never be enough for some folk.

We have a lot of baby birds on this forum, sitting in the nest with their mouths open shouting MORE, MORE, MORE regardless of how much is getting stuffed down their gullets by mom & dad.

"Oh but they're giving me steak, and I wanted FLIET MINGON!" I can hear them squeak.....

A LOT. They usually just call them Patches or quietly call them "v.62" or something like that. Look, I'm all about Team City of Heroes and no one that's spent five minutes with me doubts that loyalty. We are not, however, the only game to give free extra content.

Love City of Heroes, just pointing that out.

Well, not to put too fine of a point on it, WoW, CO (came around after numerous complaints on Vibora Bay ), and STO (who were quick to differentiate themselves from CO), to name a few. Yes, WoW has expansions too, but much of their additional content has been through regular patches akin to CoX's Issue releases.

And I agree with Marcian - love CoX, but I also see the big picture.

They're only "light" if we all agree to use your personal incredibly biased & restrictive definition of "content", a definition I explicitly reject.

I've personally been wallowing in more content than I have spare time to enjoy for the last year or so.

To be honest, I'm surprised there is EVEN an Issue 17. After HeroCon, the feeling/idea was that there wasn't going to be ANY updates until Going Rogue.

Pretty stoked about this issue. I'd like more info the UM. Like, how UM affects instanced missions. I'm be kinda bummed out to buy a new PSU and GPU just to have the zones look nicer.

Actions speak louder than Vets.

Age of Conan has free "issues" as well. They are also getting ready to have their first paid expansion... but the last 6 updates have been free, and they have ALOT of stuff in theirs.

Logical fallacy: poisoning the well. Attacking the debater instead of debating.

And to get this out of the way: how odd is it that I find myself defending P_P in this thread when I personally have done the above and more in different threads? Does this make me a hypocrite? Absolutely. Just thought I'd get that out there to disarm anyone.

Ummm... no. That's not poisoning the well. Poisoning the well would be pointing out that PP goes through these cycles of manic love and depressing ennui concerning CoH (and CO) and thus her current point isn't worth considering. That's not what Nethergoat did.

What Nethergoat did was to call into question a label she applied to I17, i.e., 'light in content'. She does indeed call it light. And he points out the source of her calling it 'light': that she dismisses parts of I17 she isn't interested in and has a narrow definition of 'content.' Which is the case, proved above in the thread. There is no logical fallacy here except on the part of PP.

(BTW, I've defended PP before in the Guides forum. )

She has a right to her opinion that the issue is 'light' and therefore disappointing to her. But when challenged on the lightness of the issue, her supporting arguments are full of phail.

Now that is uber-awesome news!

You defended me once in the Guides section, but you have always dissed me all the rest of the time. As you are now.

In issues where they gave us a new zone and content to go with it.. plus QoL stuff... plus other. Those were great issues.

This is some cool new stuff for the i-17!

I'll really appreciate the new badges and:

Positron Task Force Update: This Task Force has been split into two halves and dramatically upgraded and updated to ramp up the fun. The final battle of the Task Force takes place in the Faultline Dam and incorporates the new Dark Mirror enemy.

I think this means hell has frozen over?

That info isn't very clear.
If it is just influence/infamy i am extremely happy with that. But if they added to the feature it would surely be enhancements/salvage.

My response is "Woo Whoo!" More stuff!

To anyone with pretty much anything less than that, that entitlement bug "up there" needs to die; studies show you'll live much longer without all that stress in your lives.

To be honest... as long as you can e-mail Inf... you can e-mail "anything". Since Inf is the "money" of this game... you don't have to mail someone that new chair that they want, you can just send them the cash so that they can buy it themselves.

Or perhaps his Praetorean counterpart?

Well, you don't need a tight group of friends. Just a 3-4 man team, who knows the plan is to speed through it.

If memory serves, the Posi TF was originally a 2 parter. Didn't want people to beable to do the second half without doing the first half or some such.

Sooo...is that going to be the case still?

didn't read all responses, so this may have been pointed out, but.....
issue called "dark mirror", reference to enemy that "can match you blow for blow"....
this sounds an awful lot like an arch nemesis feature... just sayin'

Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.

I'm not excited by I17.

The revamp to the Positron TF is long overdue, so I'm glad to see it come in. That it's now a multi-part TF feels odd at first blush, but maybe it will make more sense when I play it.

However, looking at things I'm personally interested in and will do, I see the Posi TF, the two new hero arcs (so: 8 missions) and running around getting the new exploration badges. Which will be what, 4 or 5 hours of play time for my main? (Also, retconning the Posi TF to now include 'dark mirror' opponents seems off to me, but we'll see how it appears in execution.)

I'll appreciate the new graphics and being able to hold more missions (but 7 seems as random as 3 ;-) but none of the QoL things really thrill me. Animated tails? Glad other people are excited by it, but I just don't care.

That said, I recognise that I17 is a prep issue before GoRo. Get some of the kinks ironed out with Ultra Mode and some of the QoL updates before GoRo appears on shelves.

Oh, and I wonder if emailing inf is suddenly going to make the gold spammer's life that much easier. Sure, it will be monitored, but in the initial flurry of its use it is going to be hard to sort out legitimate from illegitimate use.
