EU gets shafted - AGAIN!

Apparently, there was some sort of market study that showed it wasn't worth it. So yeah, I guess it's time to grab ye olde ankles, hard and sand papery style.

Easier this way to let the EU population decline to a point where there won't be any reason for keeping the servers running: no publicity whatsoever, no boxes on stores to get new people in, no boxes for Veterans who like to actually be able to collect the Collector's Edition and not so much as a "by your leave" as way of explanation.

I like the boxes. I have the Deluxe Edition Box, the Regular Edition Box, the Collectors City of Villains Box and was hoping to get my paws on the Collector's Edition Going Rogue box. But I won't be able to because I apparently live in the wrong side of the pond. And even if I DO buy the box NA side (there are ways of doing this) I'm sure I won't be able to do anything with it because NA codes can't be applied to EU accounts.

Go NCSOft! Yay for the "brilliant" marketing heads you have working for you who came up with this. I'd golf clap but I lack the digits for it.

I seriously love this game, and will probably be playing til the last server is shut down.
But this is another nail in the coffin for the EU market.

Shame I love this game also, its very sad to see the players population down so much. NCsoft no longer cares about us european players.

Gulp I'd never thought I'd say this, "We should be merged with American servers".

Alls I can say is that if it wasn't for Mr ? I would of NEVER discovered this game and made and met some of the great friends that I now have though COH/V.

Don't get me wrong but I love the game as well, I just don't understand a company as big as NCSOFT that is willing to throw money down the drain (in the midst of a recession! - Just MAD!). Surely what they would spend on marketing/box set would pay them more in return by getting new players.

I would love to have a box set for GR. I had to order COH/V through Play.com as it wasn't in the shops (and missed out on special edition stuff) - yet you see that horrible game World Of Warcraft everywhere - and that has been out ages!

I would of thought now would of been the perfect timing to get a new group of people into this game.

How can you expand a game and not advertise to ALL of the target audience that would want to SPEND MONEY on it!

I studied at college on companies like this - so I am completely baffled by it. I had my own business a while back and without the advertising (big or small) I would of never even got it going.

I wonder if they remember the 4 P's of the marketing mix?

"A good marketing mix means an organisation:

* Offers a product that current or potential customers want
* Make sure the customer can purchase the product in a particular place that is accessible
* Promotes the product so current or potential customers know about it
* Offers the product at a price that the customer will pay"

is the digital version gonna be cheaper than an actual boxed edition?

If it isn't why should i pay the same amount as a NA boxed Version that most probably come with bumf and DvD with all updates?

You're all acting like this is something out of the blue and unusual.

NC have been shafting us for years and they will continue the same trend for more years to come. As soon as Brighton was gutted you should of known it was the beginning of the end.

I still think GR will bring a server list merge as they can put a positive spin on it. If they don't, then it will never happen.

They might not like promoting the EU game but they will never concede that it's closing time.

As a new player to a game I would have quite a bit of difficulty handing over £30 and getting nothing back in return.

A Good manual can make a game, a map often leads to anticipation.
And nothing beats opening up a new game and getting that new game smell off of it all.

While not considering this a doom thread (not yet, but it's getting there) I've been away and thought a bit more about what this news could possibly mean.

I've been looking forward to GR a lot. Not just because of all the good things included in it, but because I tire of our quiet servers too and have been looking forward to seeing some new players to come on board and join in the fun. But does the lack of a box in game stores also mean that there will be very little (if any) marketing for the game in Europe? I for one will be keeping an eye out for any advertising in the print media in the UK but I must admit, I do not expect to see any.

I'm not the slightest bit surprised by the news, but obviously disappointed. I reckon that some time ago, someone high up the chain of command in NCSoft decided that it wasn't worth maintaining a base in Europe, gutted the UK office and left the servers to dwindle. If there's not enough players in the EU then it can be argued that it's not cost effective to either merge the server lists or work on the tech needed to allow EU players to transfer characters to the US. When I feel very cynical, I could easily believe that we may end up getting the same treatment as the Korean players. Namely, a "We're closing the servers now, thanks for playing, here's a bit of free time on the US servers" response.

I still enjoy the game, I have made very good friends with many people and I still play regularly. But I do feel that the moment that the EU servers become too costly to maintain, we'll feel the sharp end of the stick. I think that we would all be very relieved to hear something reassuring from someone in the know but as I've not seen anything relating to the EU (aside from the previous comment on marketing) since the boards merged, I'm not holding out much hope. It wouldn't take much effort to let us know we're still valued. And in the spirit of remaining positive, I hope that we may be offered that soon.

WTH guys? This doesn't even compare to the MA Edition as this is a full-blown, true-blue expansion and we still won't see it on the shelves? It's not the lack of a physical copy that bothers me, but that apparently the only people who will actually know this will exist here will just be returning players and not a fresh influx of new players.

Although an Oceanic rather than EU citizen I find myself in the same bind. I can download only. This applies to all parts of the world outside the US. It's a shame really as I was looking forward to getting a boxed set for whatever goodies it comes with and the updated disc for reinstall purposes.

This decision means that not only will I as a customer not get what I want from the company, but also the company misses out an opportunity to make more from my indivdual sale. Shipping from the US to individual customers internationally via NCSoft wasn't an option either. I would have thought there were a myriad of publishing models available in between this and a full global retail release, unfortunately the powers that be seem to have chosen the minimalist end of the spectrum.

i was looking forward to getting the box set physically. i have all the other except AE- where we was screwed again.

if you only want to prompt the game in bloody america then get rid of the EU servers and merge them into the USA servers.

i want an actually answer to this from a RED NAME. i really do i'm sick and tired of having EU (EU not just england) messed around becuase they dont want to spend pretty penny into helping out the game. you'd think with something like GR something thats going to improve the game 10 fold marketing or who ever decides on spending would go all out. I saw crap loads of stuff for aion yet for this game i dont see **** all except the odd mag acticle- thats not bloody good enough.

Yer i know "bad" language is not allowed but im sick of this. i love the game and all its theme and i enjoy the people in it...so WHY CAN'T WE GET MORE PEOPLE INTO THE GAME??? WHY DOES EU HAVE TO DIE. this is why more people play on the us servers- they know more about it.

exacttly people the main reason for GR is so that it is NEW PLAYER FRIENDLY offering not just EXISTING players somthing new but to introduce NEW PLAYERS!!! how the hell are the eu servers ever meant to gain numbers and repopulate if we dont get any advertisment, im thinking that NCSoft have not thought this through properly and if they want to keep many of us from switching MMO's which i hope it dosnt come to they wonna sort it out or do a god damn server merge! i wonna stay with this game till the end but other things are offering the EU more than CoX is i mean DC univers is out soon and thats gonna be competition for this game easily! as it will have some of our fav and most loved comic book heros makin an apperance and we will get boxed copies and a wide server selection like (i hate to say this) warcraft but seriously take a leaf out of there books devs all of the USA peeps aint gonna stay with u forever!
