EU gets shafted - AGAIN!

Quick question here.

I have an EU coh box but am able to access both the NA and EU servers on it purely by changing this

"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.eu.exe"

to this

"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"

Couldnt this just be done just as easy with an NA GR box? Your account login details are obviously the same but would it matter? Just need to make 2 copies and change one of their targets to have both NA and EU servers?

Well the game install should be about 4GB, and a single layer DVD should be 4.5GB, so you could burn your install folder to disc and then copy from the disc, next time you need to install the game.

Dunno if GR will pump the install higher than 4.5GB though

Does the client on the US retail disks include French & German localisation? Or would an install from US files insist on updating for those...

we dont even get to test the new booster pack now! so unfair, i wanted to know weqather its worth purchasing.... or is it the fact the devs want us to purchase before giving us the boot!

Due to the fact that the Test servers are there to well.. to test builds and it can all be deleted overnight etc... (aka this is a gesture thingy)

That we did sort of get news on the secret thing that is on the eu server (a certain major beta)
I don't really thing this was a shafted experience.


Speculation follows:
When I read the reason well a few thoughts sprung up on my mind.
We are a few months from launch so i'd expect (wrongly maybe) that the family (inhouse) beta is over and that the first wave of people have gotten in.
That means mostlikely (unless new server tech... could be) every NA tester have had to update their test to go directly to the EU one.
Unless they secretly are doing things to the updater that we cannot know, but may have asked for for a very long time.

My speculation was based on a few things:
1. Supposedly the GR Beta is on EU server (sorta confirmed)
2. Supposed that the GR Beta is past the alpha stage (in-house) and that the few first waves have come out.
3. Suppose that the first wave are mostly players on the NA servers.

If that would be the case then the NA servers must either have changed their updater into pointing to the Eu test server, rather then their normal NA test server.
Or
The Devs (War Witch hinted something, wish I knew what) could have changed or made an updater that points to the NA and EU Test server (to save the testers from the need to reinstall, reverify etc...

So my speculation continues really, IF the Devs have done the last thing well what will stop them from making the one thing the EU have wished for (server list merge)?
Ofc the Devs might have gone for the easy/boring bit and just made the testers Test updater point to the EU instead of the NA test server.

Did this clear up my thoughts a little?

Or, simply put;

NA has two test servers, one specifically for Beta, one for regular test

EU is stuck with one server, despite the fact there are two grayed out servers sat there doing nothing, and therefore anyone who's not in Beta simply cannot access Test. At all.

Which I find much more likely, and possessing a greater percentage of fail

Meh, I would have liked to see some of the new things from the mutation booster but as it's the test server(which I consider an extra) I'm not that bugged that we can't access it for now.
