Discussion - Ultra Mode, Issue 17: Dark Mirror and Going Rogue!
I'm liking this! I wish i had the money to afford an ultra-mode capable computer, but eehh, new missions, a revamped posi, and the QoL features make me happy =)

Allied to all sides so that no matter what, I'll come out on top!
Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)
I'm really happy about the Ultra mode, because honestly this game looks so old and dated it's hard to look at. Other than that it looks like another so called issue that is really a glorified update. Grahpic improvements, QoL improvemnts, Architect improvements, unlocking Epic ATs earlier, emotes, badges....wth? Where's the beef? All this means to me is Going Rogue won't be out till September or October. Another 6 months with no real new content to play. I'm over it. Email me when you quit beating this outdated dead horse and start making CoH2.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

The ability to send Inf to yourself via e-mail |
I do wonder how emailing inf will affect the market, though. With the money flowing more freely, will prices shoot up even more?

I really don't know where to begin to say how disappointed I am to hear some of the news about what's coming in I17.
Do these devs have no concern for the fact that I planned to upgrade my system in 4 months? Does it not occur to them to consult me to see if the ultramode fits into MY schedule? I will now have to upgrade my system much sooner. Damn them. Damn them to hell.
/sarcasmoff
I mean..WOW. It's my hope that with what's happening, with the resources that seem to be directed to CoH, that we will continue to see upgrades to this game that will keep it running long into the future.

Im really looking forward to all this. I just would like them to not dump the Old Posi TF for the split up one. I actually enjoy the Posi TF as is.

Thanks

I'm pretty much indifferent to Ultra Mode, I would much rather have been given the ability to apply 3 or 4 colors to each costume piece. As well as be given a slew of new costume pieces/patterns.
The ability to email Influence/Infamy to my various characters, however, is huge...well, for me anyways. I find having 7 active missions to also be huge for me.
I'm with BlazingTiger though as I liked the old Posi TF. But, I am interested in seeing this Dark Mirror mission arc.
So will we be able to wear a belt and have a tail in i17?

-Spiritchaser speaking on Dom Revamp
According to BABs, yes.
Animated tails are not capes. They're nearly identical to how we do wings, but a much simpler rig. (Not too much more expensive than a bow when you really get down to it.)
They've also been put on their own costume node and will now show up under "Lower Body". Which will mean you can do a Belt and a Tail (animated or static) on the same character. Unfortunately, that means the tails under the belt category are being flagged as legacy. So if you want to keep your current, non-animated tail, you'll still need to go in and select that costume part from the lower body the next time you edit your costume at the tailor. |

Damn you, March. Damn you for standing between me and Dark Mirrory goodness.
Damn you.
I just read about #17 and there is one thing I *really* don't like about it...
- Epic archetypes are now unlocked at level 20.
So here is my protest:
Don't do it!
I've been working and working to get at least one of my toons to lvl 50 so I may finally, after 2 years, check out the epic archetypes! I am lookinf forward to it!
It's a reward! Why take it away?!
Lvl 20 is not hard to reach at all....
Besides, the Epic archetypes are epic for a reason... They are a bit trickier to play, so you need experience! How else to gain that then training at least one of your chars to lvl 50?
*looks sad and pouts*

And I keep seeing "experience" as a reason to not give them at 20... sorry to say it, but what experience these days? When it's entirely possible to - even relatively easy to - get your character to level 50 in less than 2 months, experience just doesn't seem like a qualifier to me.

I understand where you're coming from, and I don't think your opinion is wrong or stupid, but I still disagree with it.
First of all, anyone who want to wait until they get a character to level 50 before playing an Epic... can still do that, just like before.
It's just that now, those that don't want to wait don't have to.
It is indeed a reward to be able to crank out an EAT, but it hasn't been taken away from anyone. In fact, this reward has been given to a large number of people.
That's a good thing.
It's very much like when a permanent version of the Nemmie Staff was made available through Veteran Rewards - this didn't take the in-game Nemesis Staff away from a single person - it just allowed a much larger group of people to have the power, earlier, and forever.
That's why I'm in favor of this.
Could they have made it 30 instead of 20? Possibly... but they are the Devs and although they are far from perfect, they actually are pretty bloody good at this game developing stuff, when you get down to it. I'm willing to trust them on this.
Hope this cheers ya up a little.

The standard excepted by this player base is amazing. You will actually make excuses for a poor product again and again. It's amazing how excited you all get over more band aids. Just keep smothering this pig with more lipstick, i'll pass. Don't worry, I did cancel both my subscriptions and no you can't have my stuff or my names.

^This. Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.
I am liking issue 17, myself. The ability to send money to other characters through in-game email is hella sweet. I hope it will be one more kick in the pants to the RMT'ers.
Speaking of those, somebody admitted to having bought inf in broadcast chat last night- needless to say, he got torn a new one pretty quickly, and apparently reported.
I can't wait to try the new Posi TF, it sounds really sweet. And I'm curious about this kinda-nemesis thing happening too.

Ultra Mode
As pre-ordained in the long lost thread "City of Jack Kirby Giants"!
...well, no Giant Kirby characters for us to trample on other players with, but reflections of our mighty-selves in the reflective surfaces of the City!

Epic Archetypes Unlocked at Level 20
Already have my Epics unlocked. Hopefully, it unlocks the VETAs as well.
Even if it doesn't, that's one less excuse for people to PL characters.
Animated Tails
Hopefully, that comes with some new tail options as well.
I'm hoping for a furry wolf tail and extension cord with pug.
(I'd bring up bubble helmets and turbans but they aren't tails...rats..brought them up by mistake)

Quality of Life Improvements
Show Last Objective: This UI improvement lets you find your last objective on a mission map, making it easier to find something you've missed.
In-Game E-mail:
You can now use in-game e-mails to send Influence/Infamy to your own characters or to other players' characters via in-game e-mails. (You still cannot send Influence, Infamy, or items from a Hero to a Villain or vice versa.)
It isn't from side-to-side, but it apparently is from server-to-server.
Mission Architect Improvements
Experience: You can now handpick the powers for custom enemies and still receive experience for them (within game balance limits).
New Maps: We have added approximately 20 new unique maps.
Giant Monsters: You can now add giant monsters to some outdoor maps.
Exit Mission on Complete: You can now specify that players have to leave the mission manually on completion.
Escort Missions: "Lead to place" technology allows you more control over escort objectives.
I can't say that "Exit Mission on Complete" is going to be a favorite though.
Having the Escort lead you to an another mission Event will be pretty cool though.
What's not to love about new maps!?
most of your questions were already answered in previous posts, but I would address your concerns about emailing influence/infamy.
In my opinion this will have no measurable impact on RMT/farmers. Sure, it will make it easier for them to send the inf around, but it will also make it easier to track, hence easier to catch/ban. This is far more of a QoL for players than it is for farmers. I have waited nearly 6 years for this to finally be implemented, and I for one am ecstatic about it.
A better idea, might have been to implement some sort of ATM service. Where you can make deposits and withdrawals to with each character on your account. That way it would not help the farmers at all, but would still provide us with the ability to transfer funds around. However, I am assuming this would be a much more difficult to implement than just adding numeric attachments to emails.
I just hope there isn't an increase in hacking attempts due to the in-game email upgrade.
Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"

I am both estatic and excited. My only issue is the lack of SLI compatibility, but alas, this is not the threat for such suggestions.
