I find it rather odd that both Longbow and Arachnos are more visible on villain side than blue side.

You don't get a whole lot of missions on blue side involving Arachnos...

Except maybe after Faultline revamp...

Well, think of it as Arachnos just moving in to Paragon City and Longbow not needing all that large a presence there due to the high Hero population.

Hopefully they revamp Boomtown and do something with Lord Recluse's claim of interest there.

Well, wasn't Longbow officially made by Ms. Liberty to liberate the Etoile Islands? Of course the real reason is because she believes that Great Uncle Stefan can be safed, but Longbow is still thematically tied to the Rogue Islands.

And I don't think Arachnos existed in the game before CoV came out. The only zone with Arachnos in it is Faultline, no?

Either way, yeah, I'd like a greater Arachnos presence blue-side, too.

Huh. You're right about that. For some reason, I'd thought they were an organization hanging around to take care of superhuman street crime (based on what they've been doing in Paragon City - specifically, Galaxy & Atlas)... A regular police force, in other words, though tied to the UN. Bah. I read too many things from too many places about too many universes to keep everything straight. :P

Recluse has an interest in Boomtown? Why would he want more piles of rubble when he already has Mercy?

All kidding aside, I'd have thought Reichsman or the Clockwork King would be more likely to stake a claim to Boomtown. Better yet both of them.

Giant Nazi robots vs Giant Clockwork robots now please

Well I decided to give redside a shot and indeed the content is more challenging. Just that the market SUCKS real badly, and you hardly see anyone unless you're near a black market

Otherwise its fun, just made a Thugs/Traps MM.

May I point you to the closest "where is everyone?/is the game always empty?" thread? With the exception of Atlas Park, you'll only see Heroes at Wentsworth's, too. At this point it's almsot redundant to point out, but this is a heavily instanced-based game with almost no reason to stick around in the zones. True, the villain population IS smaller, but neither side has zones sprawling with player characters.

Now, the following is anecdotal, and I'm sure people will use it as an excuse to rant about how I stole their RAM, kicked their dog and violated their sister (all undoubtedly true, if irrelevant).

I dinged 20 on a new stalker I wanted to check out last night. Using the Ae tickets from some lowbie mish's there I got some bronze rolls. I was able to get nearly 3 mil in SELL IT NAO money (I hadn't bothered to transfer any cash on there yet) and use that to completely IO every single slot in the character (barring rest, brawl etc). Bonesnap sets+frankenslotting in attacks, decimation in my cone, end red/def frankenslotted in my toggles. Everything, top to bottom, done on the spot, no standing bids left to wait, with only the cash made from my leveling ae ticket loot and over a mil leftover.

Now, I grant I did leave a couple salvage bids sit overnight to avoid the price fixing that was happening, but I could have had those pieces on the spot for another 200K or so total cost and still had plenty of pocket change. Every recipe I purchased was between 20 and 23, I didn't compromise on what I wanted level wise.

The point being, red doesn't have the supply to support that kind of fun little impulse splurge for a new toon that turns out to be fun. You're having a great time with your pretty little lowbie and want something shiny for it! No the end of the world, but certainly a weakness in the play experience for red.

Please, return to your regularly scheduled personal attacks, misinterpretations, misrepresentations and pointless flaming.

I have a feeling your avatar is fairly inflamed in one particular area.
Really, it makes me wince.

Sorry, no personal attacks or misrepresentations or pointless flaming. Just an off-the-wall comment because I feel bad for your avatar.

How's the weather up there?

I've been thinking about using the humping robot instead... I've got the vid clip and just need to break out adobe and make it into a gif at some point.

DISCLAIMER: The above post was probably written with a smile and veritably drips with sarcasm and humor. Try not to take it too seriously.

I responded to this kind of thinking earlier in the thread, Humility. The experience you stated for the redside market is no different blueside. For my characters on both sides, I put bids in for recipes (and any of the salvage I still need to make those recipes) ahead of time so I will hopefully have them when I need them. Sure, sometimes there are recipes and salvage there when I need them. But there are plenty of times where I have to wait for a recipe to pop in, or wait for some price spike on a piece of salvage to calm down.

Redside market IS slower, don't get me wrong, but arguing that blueside is sugar and spice and everything nice isn't going to fly, either.

I'm going to assume you made a mistake in there, as otherwise it reads as:

1) You hit L20 on a stalker.
2) Used the stalkers saved tickets for bronze rolls.
3) Converted bronze rolls to cash on the black market.
4) Used the cash to impulse buy everything you wanted for your character - on redside as the character is a stalker.
5) Ended with a comment that was in contradiction to the rest of what you said.

Even if you meant a blueside AT like Scrapper, which I think you did, your fundamental point works out to "Redside doesn't have the supply to support being a casual player who is both lazy and impatient."

If you're lazy and impatient, and get taken advantage of on the market - it's your fault. Just like in real life.

Being a casual player without much time to invest into this game, does not also require you to be lazy and impatient. Smart play is rewarded whether you play for 20 hours a week or 5.

Yeah, slip of the fingers. It was a scrapper, not a stalker.

The point being, it was impromptu. I'm not going to bother crafting a bunch of 20ish recipes for a character I'm not enjoying. If I need to plan weeks+ in advance to buy a couple of bonesnap sets, I probably won't bother.

Calling me lazy and impatient because of an example of doing something fun is a fine way to show you don't know what you're talking about. Crushing impacts, doctored wounds, etc... I place bids, I wait, I got my sets. I have more bids in just to get some more sets into my base storage for the next character I want to get functioning at a higher level.

After playing blue for something around 3 weeks, with zero marketeering (no flipping, buying recipes and reselling IOs etc), and just selling unwanted drops and ticket rolls... I am sitting on something around 220 mil cash. On top of that in my main blue toon I've got some respectable stuff with 3 crushing impact 5 piece sets, 2 doc wounds, lotg 7.5%, steadfast res/def global along with like 10 KB protection IOs on the market or in base storage and a handful of res/def globals sitting there. Pieces of other good sets tossed into base storage in case I want them for other toons.

Stating or implying that I am lazy or incompetent because I enjoy a little impulse buy for a lowbie I am having fun with is just a straw man argument which completely ignores the point being made.

I never said it was sugar and spice. I did say it had enough traffic to support a fun little low level impulse buy without breaking the bank. I was able to buy everything I wanted, ON THE SPOT at reasonable prices. It was fun. Red market can't support that due to lack of supply. That's all I was stating. If you would like to imply I was stating everything is perfect and shiny on blue market, please offer some quote that supports your stance and stop trying to misrepresent what I said.

I was buying spices for 5 influence last night, but someone price jacked sugar to 500,000.

If i'm feeling whimsical i hit up AE to roll up some sugar and take advantage of the sugar market.

The redside market can be a bit wonky, but barring a very few set pieces i usually don't have too much difficulty getting the pieces i want for the more popular non-purple sets. For those hard to get items i use SF/TF runs for the merits to buy them outright.
