Troy Hickman. Are you afraid, he'll show up if you type in his name?

Oh, it's a well-founded fear, believe me. Notice the post right underneath the one where I foolish mentioned The Pantsless One.

I love Guest Author arcs! It gives us professionally-written stories between Issues that we can play around in. And I like that they're getting the talent from a broad variety of mediums. Not only comic books, but also novels, webseries, video game writers, etc.

Did anyone actually play-test this?

Spoilers:

An Elite Boss Zombie/Dark Mastermind? That's as nasty as a Ballista.

And Minions with an END drain? A 100% total turn off. Maybe the third arc won't have grievous balance issues.

Still here, even after all this time!

Another little known technique: leaving a Braunschweiger sandwich out in the open.

Mercedes Lackey's arc needs proofreading. Errors I've spotted so far:

"The old man in in league with $character_name. Find him and make him one of us!"
"$character_name is close. I can feel him"
"Sometimes good deeds do pay off. omYou freed the Singing Tiki..."

In the final mission, several things the Singing Tiki says are cut off.

The guy you rescue is variously referred to as "Old Man MacGruffin" and "Old Man MacGuffin".

Other than that, it's a very enjoyable arc. And if it's the one that Futurias is complaining about, I didn't have any trouble with the final boss (although I was only running at +2. If I were running at my normal +4, it might have been harder).

In the third mission briefing of Austin Grossman's arc, there's also mention of a desk covered with "dusk"

Yeah, I found this last night.
I slogged through the first mission on my Fire/Fire Brute with regular downtime due to the end drain, and then hit the second mission to see a bunch of lieutenants with Lightning Fields crackling. The first spawn detoggled me and I ran back for the exit and quit.

This looks like a fun storyline though, and I'm lucky enough to have an Electric Armour Brute too. I'll be back.

I will be in the Rikti War Zone MA Building for anyone that would like to run one of the arcs. Lets play!

I played the hickman arc - it was very entertaining and well written. My only complaint is that the end drain is BRUTAL in the first two missions. And by brutal I mean ridiculously over-powered. It's bad enough that I'm fairly certain many people would quit the arc over it.

I already did once -- I'm planning on going back with my difficulty settings lowered back down.

Thanks for the feedback, Cy. I tried to make the arc challenging, but I'll admit that as a game designer I probably make a good comic writer. I put a lot of effort into the text and characters, but my grasp of game mechanics probably isn't up to the level of a lot of MA creators. After I'd finished I played through the entire arc AT LEAST several dozen times to work out all the particulars, with a number of different ATs, and was able to get through it without TOO much effort. But I'm sure I didn't take everything into account.

I'll keep your comments in mind in the future. And I hope you enjoyed the arc overall.

Troy Hickman - So proud to have contributed to and played in this wonderful CoH universe

I appear to have missed this opportunity. Is Dr. Aeon still making an appearance on Freedom RWZ AE at 7pm PST?

That's one of the reasons I hate playing against Mu Arachnos heavy missions. Zap-zap-zap-detoggle. I'll just 'slog' through this mission.

Slogging is not a challenge. It's just slow.

The problem is not with the energy drain itself, but the fact that it's autohit, meaning that you WILL have your end drained every time. If they had one that required a to-hit check it would be a bit fairer as you could use either your powers or insps to avoid some of them.

By the Way, the MA: Stories and Lore forum has a thread put up for feedback on the arcs themselves.

I've found a pretty big bug with Austin Grossman's arc. It can't be completed.

All of the missions have linked objectives - where one must be compelted for the next to spawn. In his final mission, the third objective never spawns, even when the first two are completed. I went over the map many times looking for it, assuming that I was somehow missing it. I replayed the arc, which was fun up until that point. I even set up a special bind of "targetcustomnext notmypet" and went room to room using it, including the small cave area. I could find nothing except for 2 glowies and the first 2 destrucible objects. In total, I probably spent an hour trying to complete the final mission of the arc before finally giving up.
