GR: Unquestioned Questions!
this is a possibility, because theres the poeple who start out as preatorian and prolly dont want to make a hero or a villain (AT wise).
it would be nice if they actually released more GR info to try to figure some of this stuff out.
Wait... CoH is a boxed expansion?
I don't know, only time will tell.
In the old NCSoft marketing survey where a lot of the GR ideas were first made public, there's a Spy AT mentioned - which I think would fit very well in Praetoria.

Think if they keep seeing these GR threads pop up every where they will have to give us some info? Only 1 way to find out lol.
Pleas for Going Rogue information are treated the same way as requests for the Bug Hunter badge.
Oh, hi devs! Fancy you reading this thread. So who do you hate more at this point: me or marketing?
As much as I'm jittering for info every day, I can find one upside to not knowing much. There could be a whole lot more content than what they've shown us, I hope so at least.
Questions that haven't been asked yet....
* If there were 1st level versions of high level enemies would the Freakshow version be a mean guy with braces headgear? Would a 1st level Sapper be a mother complaining about when she's gonna be promoted to grandma? Would Warriors just be Larpers with foam rubber swords?
* Why do they hold Costume Contests under a guy who... let's face it... isn't wearing a costume?
* Was that one Freakshow who wanted to be grafted to a car told by the Devs that in-game vehicle travel powers was never going to happen?
* Where does the waste water from the Pocket D bathrooms go? Where do the waterfalls in Ouroboros come from? Are these questions connected?
* Considering the average height of a Red Cap; how many of them wish that their boss's name was Jack in Trousers?
* Does the United Nations condone the Longbow presence in the Rogue Isles?
* How long before Animal Planet does an on-location show about Monkey Island behind Portal Corps?
* How do the In-Game characters explain those heroes who can have the Valkyrie cape at 1st level? Is someone in the Cape Rewards Bureau taking bribes?
* Is Azuria losing things or is she on the take?
* Does the Praetorian Westin Phipps look and act like Mister Rogers?
* If everything is a Nemesis Plot then is the entire Development team on his payroll?
* If Synapse scuffed his feet over a carpet at superspeed would he explode?
* How many cans of Glade Air Freshener were necessary when Positron first took his suit off?
* How many euphanisms for intimacy does Manticore have with references to bows, arrows and bullseyes?
* When Manticore introduces his wife as "my little Sister Psyche" how many people call him a sick freak?
* Does she call herself Sister Psyche because she was a nun who broke the habit?
* Swan, Sister Psyche... Why is it that all the women who can read minds wear the skimpiest, most revealling costumes?
My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw
I looked over the Going Rogue FAQ, and the one thing I didn't see surprisingly enough was this.... will there be any new archetypes introduced?
CoH and CoV, the previous two boxed set expansions, both had about a half dozen ATs each... shouldn't GR have the same thing? 5 or 6 new ATs? Or is this it for new ATs aside from epics that may be released in the future? |

There's a new AT, the Walkie-talkie toaster. They're technology origin. Primary power is muffin assault, secondary powers are toast armour. They have the inherent "would you like a piece of Toast?" which causes all their primary powers to have a chance of causing confusion or anger in their targets.
Their small statue is already factored and they get a +10% bonus on any defense based buffs...
In actually answer to the questioned question...we have no idea...we could get the Spy AT or we could get nowt...I'm hoping for the Walkie-Talkie toaster AT for bother sides though.

since they haven't answered the questions we have asked, is there a point to compiling a list of questions that they wont answer at a future date?
If I'm a villain in a VG, and I decide to go blueside via morality arcs, will I still remain in the VG, or will there come a point where, in the morality arc, it will flag up stating that if you progress any further you will lose all ties to your VG?
....and vice-versa

The answer is no, there will be no new AT's introduced with going rogue. What will be new is the Demon summoning and Duel pistols sets, anything else set wise will be poliferated power sets and there is no promise that will happen.

And I gotta' say, "Will there be new ATs?" is a question not answered, but asked pretty much all the time, by me at the very least. I'd really like to see five more ATs because we have a few combos left over that could really make the game a lot more interesting. Like...
Assault/Defence, let's just get that out there.
Melee/Support, because people keep asking for it.
Summon/Melee, or at least a melee/defence secondary. Support sets play a major role in Mastermind power, so the change would be interesting.
And that's just off the top of my head.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Don't make me facepalm...not again. I've been forced to do it far, far too much recently. My faceplate is starting to get a dent in it.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Um... Do you per chance have a source for this info?

Going rogue is just a expansion, unlike CoV which was a game ment to be played either with or without its heroes counterpart, there is simply no need to add new AT's and if they did I imagine it would push back the release of GR considerably.
Also IMO all those concepts you listed would be stepping on the toes of the already existing ATs, pretty much all of them would lead to less diverse teams. Just my opinion however.

My source is being at herocon during one of the post-panel QA sessions, this was asked multiple times and answered multiple times with "No."

We've heard some talk about a new starting area in praetoria... something where you're neither hero nor villain... but your decisions there may reveal the path you choose. Do you thus start with a hero or villain archetype? The names kinda characterize these as rather "good" or "evil"... do you confuse the playerbase by renaming ALL of these into something more neutral? OR do you start as some strange pseudo-archetype that evolves into a hero or villain archetype based on the decisions you make? Is this the origin of the rumored "spy" archetype: a character that is neither hero nor villain archetype but can assume the identity of either based on events in-game?
I think the question has been answered. Preatoria DOES have a set of Archetypes that can be used for a character created in that area, it is one of the ten ATs that already exist. The whole idea for Going Rogue, according to descriptions of the expansion, is to make the Hero ATs available in the Rogue Isles, and the Villain ATs available in Paragon City. To introduce a whole new set of ATs, which are exclusive to the Preatorians, would go against the entire concept of the expansion.
Putting it another way, Heroes are getting five new ATs, Villains are getting five new ATs, and Preatorians are getting ten. The whole idea is to get away from "these ATs go with this expansion". (Not to mention "these Power Sets go with these ATs") There may be truly "new" Epic ATs coming down the line, but you would be hard pressed to come up with five more original concepts that would not be rehashes of the melee and ranged Archetypes we already have. (or four new classes of pet users)
Well, as a thought..

What does matter is players having a clear understanding of what the class does.

One thing they might do sometime in the future is to introduce the VEAT branching options to every AT - so for example, a Scrapper would get to choose at around 20-25 if they wanted to continue as a pure Scrapper, or start accessing some Tank Powers - it's be sort of like D&D dual-classing, but made to fit the CoH system.

Now back OT...
While we know you can make a neutral hero/villain, I don't believe we know for certain if you can just make a Hero-Corrupter or villain-blaster straight out or if you need to go through the morality system/Praetoria.

The reason I think SoA get around that is because as Epic ATs, the assumption is that the player is more experienced overall. Plus, as there is only one Power Set involved for each choice, your options are more limited. Although there are clear differences between Banes and Crabs and the Wolf Spider they are derived from, they are close enough that you can derive from your experience with the Wolf when you first start playing the Bane and Crab.
In short, you'd have to find a point where the Scrapper and Tanker are still similar, maybe around level 20, and they'd have to have similar Power Sets. Like, you can change from Fire/Inv to Inv/Fire.
The shapeshifting of Kheldians is similar, although more challenging in some ways. There is a huge difference between a Nova and Dwarf, but you have Human form to fall back on while you're learning, and there is the ability to shift on the fly, besides. So you've got other options while you try to get the hang of (for example) Dwarf.
So, can you think of any questions for the devs about GR that haven't even been asked yet?
I looked over the Going Rogue FAQ, and the one thing I didn't see surprisingly enough was this.... will there be any new archetypes introduced?
