I've really gotten to where I don't even like Christmas any more. If it were really just about spending time together, having a good meal, and love and peace and all, I'd be all for it. But somewhere along the line, it got tainted by all of this gift nonsense. To me, it's silly.

During the year, if I see something that I think that someone will really appreciate, I buy it and I give it to them. I don't wait until some arbitrary day. If someone does something nice for me, I try to respond in kind, and most of the time it's not really in a monetary kind of way.

In spite of me telling everyone repeatedly, "Don't get me anything," people still invariably do. My sisters and Belle are the worst about that. The problem is that they keep telling me, "Well, it's just a little something, and you don't have to get me anything..." Yeah, and how is that supposed to make me feel, getting a bunch of gifts and giving nothing in return except, "Thanks! And, um... I love you?"

For years and years, I ran through the motions. I'd sit there and rack my brain trying to come up with stuff to give people. Invariably, I'd end up a couple of days before Christmas calling around telling everyone, "I just can't think of anything. What do you suggest for [insert someone else's name here]?" For several years, I've tried to suggest that we all draw names so that we can focus on getting just one person something nice, but that's been a no-go. Everyone wants a tree full of gifts. It's always just an exercise in stress and frustration.

To be honest, I wish that everyone would just stop. No more gifts at Christmas, period. If you want to be happy because of material things, take the money that you used to spend on Christmas presents for everyone else and go buy yourself something nice, something you would normally not buy because it's capricious or a bit extravagant. No more fruitcakes, no more ugly neckties, no more gift cards sitting in wallets until stores go out of business, no more white elephants cluttering up my house collecting dust.

So what did I get for Christmas? Hopefully, nothing of monetary value.

What will I be giving others for Christmas? I'm going to log off and go spend some quality time with the people I love. God willing, there will be some pumpkin pie involved at some point. Peace, and I'll see you on the 26th.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

I got mine when they were released so I paid full price. The planned price drop was only 10% so that's actually not a bad gift.

They're not even worth enslaving, to be honest.

I got to keep my job. (unlike so many others)

In short, i got everything i wanted in the immediate future and for that i'm truly blessed.

That's actually a device that lets him data mine in real time, so the slightest hint of fun being had via PvP can be ruthlessly crushed with an iron fist in the shape of a hotfix for whatever power is causing the problem

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

A few DS games, a few books, and a really nice set of speakers.

The best gift though: I got my sister Rock Band: Beatles. And it meant that I finally had a version of Rock Band that the rest of the family would play. For the first time in months, I used all four instruments, and I got to drag the family into playing with me.

We'll always have Paragon.

"A great love is alot like a good memory. When it's there and you know it's there, but it's just out of your reach. It can be all that you think about. You can focus on it and try to force it but the more you do, the more you seem to push it away. But if you're patient and hold still...maybe...just maybe...it will come to you. I just need to be somewhere she can find me" - Church from Red vs Blue
