Tell me about your 50s

In chronological order. For every level 50 on here, I've gotten about three characters to the mid 30s/low 40s and then abandoned/deleted them. Note the ratio of Defenders to everything else:

Kelenar, Storm/Elec/Energy Defender: My first 50, back in the days when men were real men, women were real women, teams would kick Storm characters the moment they saw our powersets, and 'r u healer?' was a way of life. Got up to the kazillions of hours played, since I spent about 3 hours RP'ing him for every 1 of fighting. I eventually deleted him, losing about 35 HOs in the process. I don't have much use for level 50 characters now, and in the olden days of i2, there were even fewer things to do.

Kaelinia, Katana/Dark/Dark Scrapper: Duoed with an Illusion/Kin Controller. Whereas it took me the better part of a year to hit 50 on Kel, Kae hit it on about 3 months. Her build needs to be massively overhauled if I play her again, since she's still slotted for having SB up 24/7. It takes about 20 seconds to bottom out on endurance in combat if I don't have it.

Kai-Lian, Dark/Elec/Elec Defender: There was a big time gap between Kae and Kai, since that's when my altitis hit. She remains one of my more powerful characters. Dark Miasma is that good. If I had it to do again, I'd take... just about any other Defender secondary.

Aisha A., Stone/Energy/Widow Brute: The original incarnation of Aisha was an Ice/Ice Dominator. She was duoing with a Bots/Dark MM, and I got frustrated by the high 30s because the MM's Fearsome Stare was almost as useful at control as my entire primary... and with those bot burn patches around, there wasn't much use for soft control or old dom-level damage. So, I upgraded her to a brute. First character I ever solo'ed extensively. It's a fun, if not hugely powerful, combo. The controls in Stone/ make up for a lot of the secondary's weaknesses.

Jessica Reid, Thugs/Poison/Mako MM: Possibly my most powerful character. Toward the end of her career, I couldn't get enough challenge from solo missions, so I started just soloing huge spawns of Bane Spiders with a few bosses in them on the Grandville beach. The XP for doing so was pretty ridiculously good.

Hail Striker, Storm/Archery/Dark Defender: ... at some point, we started getting things to do at 50 again. And I missed Storm Summoning ever since I deleted Kel. So I decided to give it another go. Having Freezing Rain + Rain of Arrows is a beautiful thing. So is having Defender secondaries that aren't /elec. Have I mentioned that I dislike /elec on Defenders?

Shatterware, Rad/Rad/Energy Defender: One of my four 50s I still break out from time to time--she's well-rounded enough that I don't feel like I'm losing huge areas of competence if I exemp too low, like a lot of characters. Rad blast is also just downright cool.

Qiao Huang, Cold/Ice/Energy Defender: Level 50 I still play #3, and my favored high-level TF character. Cold/ is vastly underrated.

Liora Kate, Earth/Fire/Scorpion Dominator: One of the four 50s I still play from time to time. With the cash she made levelling up, I got her to 40% or so global recharge... so when she hit 50, I decided to just keep on going and see what I could get. She sits well above the minimum recharge for permadom these days, and I tend to take the alphas on her.

Sorrow-Weave, Dark/Elec/Mu Brute: Level 50 I still play #4. My only 50 who's soloed an AV without Shivans/nukes, though I suspect Jessica could do it fairly easily with a little build tweaking. Similar to Aisha, there's a lot of soft control going on on her. Between draining entire mobs of their endurance, -ToHit, and fear, there's a pretty significant survival difference on her between just jumping in and playing intelligently. I actually had very little trouble with rogue Vanguard--end-drain them fast enough and they're just sacks of HP. I still pull her out from time to time to take on x8 missions in RWZ.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

My 50s... rather sordid tale, really.

I created Bill Z Bubba as a joke character to learn the ropes of the game. I had no idea that he'd become my namesake, my main, my favorite. He had to buy his last respec because he's used every trialspec, every vetspec and every freespec offered. Iggy Kamikaze has already shown me, just days later, where I need to move some slots for even more regen and HP. As much as I've considered deleting him and rebuilding him as a brute, I know that I never will. He's Bill Z Bubba, the Claws/SR Scrapper. And that's what he'll remain. At least on Pinnacle.

Next was Celmor the Peacebringer. My second level 50 and the first level 50 I've ever deleted. As far as I'm concerned, PBs are brokenly bad.

CoV went live and I knew that I was to be the head of our villain group, so Louis Cypher was 40 before the patch to raise the level cap. He was 50 2-3 weeks later. He had all the accolades. He was an EM/FA brute. I deleted him a couple months ago and recreated him as a DM/WP brute. He's now superior in every way compared to his prior self.

Melcor is the warshade. He doesn't suck.

Grey Dwarf was another joke character built as an evil counter to my brother's main character, Green Dwarf. He sits mostly unused at 50 as a Stone/WP brute.

Of them all, Bill is the only one that I still care about keeping up to date and ready to fight.

Be well, people of CoH.

My first:
Dreameater. She is a mind/psi dom. I had started the game playing defenders, whose support led me to controllers, whose control led me to dominators...which has become my sweet spot.

I love how the character can help the team and herself by preempting any threat through some well placed mind manipulation. The attacks to go with that means she can actually get rid of threats, not just stop them. (An issue my controllers had, especially pre-containment.) The update to dominators' damage has made this even more true. Oh, and drain psyche rocks. No need for fitness, and with some recharge, the controls lock stuff down well enough that I've stopped carrying any but a couple emergency greens/blues. Getting her to 50 happened when I found a regular group to team with, oddly enough.

My second:
My EM/DA brute, The Deathsman. A brute geared towards control. .....what? he can keep 3 bosses permanently stunned, and can turn a mob into a mush of drunk cowards. Before the energy tranfer changes, he put out enough damage to solo a good many AV's. Now I'm not sure he could, with less time to react, but he still does some eight man missions for the heck of it. He hit 50 mostly through solo play.

My third:
My main controller, Persephone Lee. She's Ill/emp. Soloing her up until PA was tough, but then I found some groups to play with, and the army with targets for empathy to buff made her seem far more useful.

My 4th:
Lady Vasilisa, bots/ff mastermind. My land are bots with forcefields tough...this character makes me worry about possible mastermind nerfs. (But then I play my necro/poison. )

My 5th:
Mr. Kanker, a rad/kin corruptor. He was my 'main' villain for a bit, but mostly because I teamed with a /stone brute a lot. I love the guy, but especially over on redside, he's just so darned vulnerable. So many mez-heavy mobs mean he can pack only break frees, and go through almost all of them. That said, fulcrum shift>nuke>pop a blue>transference>scourge remaining to their knees=fun.

My 6th:
Artemis Young, an Arch/Em blaster. My land, the damage and range. There's something wickedly fun about being able to wipe an entire spawn out at sniper range.

I know I will miss some of them.

Heraclea, Inv/SS tanker. first character and first 50. This character is based on drawings I had made featuring a female version of a sword and sandal character, an Amazon, sort of a cross between Wonder Woman and Hercules. Born on Dec. 24, 2004. Still played frequently. Working on a second build right now. +

Grandma Gnosis, ill/emp controller. Seldom played. I don't enjoy buffing sets on teams. A very old character, though, one of the first I made and kept. +

Daisy May, stone/axe tanker. Seldom played; I don't enjoy Stone Armor very much. Created during the dark ages of i5-i6, because it seemed needful to have a granite tanker then.

Damage Cushion, fire/energy melee tanker. Another i5 creation; for one issue fire was pretty good when you could six slot its armors for resistance. After her primary and secondary were taken from her, she became deadwood on my main server (Victory). I didn't want to delete the character completely, so I mothballed her by moving her to Champion, where she occasionally participates in Tanker Tuesdays. She's more fun to play when there are other tankers on the team.

Camilla (Camilia), willpower/stone melee tanker. My first level 50 not on Victory; she's on Virtue. Seldom played, though; I don't know that many people there. Made as my first initial and successful experiment with Willpower. +

Beata Beatrix, ss/inv brute. My first brute, made at the launch of i6. Just recently started to take an interest in this character again, but she still mostly lives in the shadow of +

Anactoria, dark melee/wp brute. My main brute. Will probably cross over when Going Rogue goes live. +

Androphonissa, shield/mace tanker. Still played somewhat often, but not as much since I have +

Yansan, shield/electric tanker. Played very often. My most fun tanker to play.

Toxotes, arch/devices blaster. The first blaster I really enjoyed. Played often. +

William Shakespeare, rad/arch defender. The first defender I really enjoyed. Also, the first male character to hit 50.

Baroness Munchhausen, electric/shield scrapper. Played often. Very useful. Can tank.

Drusilla Claudia, DM/SR scrapper. My first Mission Architect scrapper, born of a perceived need to take a very hard to kill scrapper into the MA. Now lives in the shadow of +

Betsy Ross, spines/wp scrapper. Played almost daily: my banking character. Rolled on a lark for a July 4th themed costume contest, this character became my favorite to take into Mission Architect. Another tanking scrapper.

Maiden Heaven, fire/regen scrapper. Played fairly often: my scrapper of choice to run lower level TFs for merits.

Melaena, WP/DM tanker. Played occasionally; my Rikti ship raid tanker. +

Hypsiste, WP/SS tanker. Played occasionally. May be sent redside when Going Rogue goes live. +

Madame Nhu, Widow. Played fairly often. May be coming blueside when Going Rogue goes live.

Omphale, inv/dark melee tanker. Played often. My toughest tanker, built for master's runs. +

+ These characters are from New Colchis.

My first char to get to level 50 was the Silver Sorcerer, a ill/kin troller, love him, but levelled him on a very old and bad computer, and took me ages. I still like him and play him from time to time.

Then there is Nosatufer my katana/regen scrapper
Moonlion (whose concept I still love) a BD/Super reflexes char
Docter Draco, fire tanker (also concept, not as played as often as the other i'm mantioning)
Fairy Blue lightning, a elec/elec blaster
Mister Pinta, a kin defender
Dark Mutant Devil , dark/dark scrapper tryout which i liked so much (and got loads of influence on) i took to 50
Lady Bonsai a plant empath troller. Lovely concept and great choice of powers.

On the redside i got the Scarlet Sorcerer a ninja, poison MM.

1. Red Menacer, Broadsword/Regen/Body Scrapper (Virtue) - First 50. Big shirtless red guy with black boots, hood and cargo pants. Built before the advent of IOs (but largely after ED) and hasn't been retrofitted. Ran Sprint and Focused Accuracy constantly, which allowed me to skimp on Acc enhancements. I'll still pull him out once in a while, but not often. Has an open Cimeroran mission with a mission door in Peregrine Island, which is pretty interesting. At one point I think I tried to link him into Dr. Vahz's experiments (toxic res from Regen).

2. Oro Liquido, Invuln/EM/Energy Tanker (Virtue) - my first character ever (who had slots in Brawl initially...). Concept: partially made of gold, which makes him somewhat malleable. Beating anything with him for the first 30 levels was slow (at least I had Hasten!) but very safe. This picked up a bit later. I took Resist powers on him before it was popular. Has some IO, but I never put together a Mids build for him. I haven't really even played him since the EM changes to test him out.

3. Blue-Agave, Mind/Kin/Psionic Controller (Virtue) - because Tequila (from the Blue agave plant) can seriously mess with your mind! B-A was really fun to play, both teamed and solo. My first toon to have a plan in Mids, and is maybe 90% equipped with IO sets. My only toon to complete the ITF. Also never took a travel pool, but relied on the Jingle Pack and Siphon Speed until level 28.

4. Astrasmash, Grav/Storm/Stone Controller (Virtue) - inspired by the classic Intellivision game Astrosmash. Has five costumes colored after different levels in the game. Worked thematically I thought with space/rocks falling from the sky. She started a little slowly (pre-Containment!) but really came into her own at later levels. Primarily soloed.

5. Zap Dingbat, Energy/Kin/Mu Corruptor (Champion) - My first villain 50! I only teamed with her twice, and at that point I didn't even have Speed Boost! But, I persevered and survived anyway, though it was challenging with little mez protection. Had to use knockback (and knockdown, with Air Sup) to my advantage. Had Hover, but no travel power. Had a nice balance of IO bonuses (some recharge, some resistance, some regen) and an Entropic Chaos proc in Power Bolt that was pretty handy.

6. Blu Blazes, Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster (Virtue) - Blu was a blast (no pun intended) to play. I built her possibly against common wisdom (took everything in the primary, no Consume but Burn and Hot Feet in the secondary). Focused on playing at range, with some typed defensive bonuses, movement and regen. Also attempted to focus on mitigating mez, with Acrobatics, IO bonuses and the Aegis unique. If I was to be held, it wouldn't be for long - and I could still blast away with Fire Blast and Flares. Soloed, and I believe my fastest 50 to date. First 50 on my second account.

7. Doctor Plumbum, Mercs/Poison/Mace Mastermind (Champion) - Plumbum is latin for lead, which the doctor could either poison you with or just plain shoot you with. Could be considered a Tankermind I guess, as using Provoke while in Bodyguard mode was his main strategy. Soloed most of his career, but probably my biggest thrill with him was teamed; around level 47 or 48 I teamed with a 50 to "help" with missions from his patron (turned out to be an AE baby with few if any slots). He died, I ended up soloing a purple-con Silver Mantis. I was pleased.

8. Hiberpsyche, Ice/MM/Cold Blaster (Virtue) - had never played Ice before, and wanted to try out the new Mental Manipulation set. It was different, but in a good way. 6-slotted World of Confusion did help with mitigation, as did the holds in Ice. Like Blu Blazes, took CJ and Acrobatics. Blizzard rocks, and works well with Drain Psyche. Also, with Drain Psyche I was able to skip the Fitness pool. Soloed exclusively.

9. Treebucket, Plant/Thorns/Leviathan Dominator (Champion) - figured it was time to finally play a Dom, especially with changes to Domination on the horizon (at the time). Took Vines VERY late (47), so I relied on Domination and being careful to deal with bosses (Creepers helps, as does Water Spout). Seeds of Confusion is obviously huge with this set and is the standard opening move. I took AND LIKED Thorntrops too - both in larger groups and against bosses, I found it great to limit their movement (if they weren't already Rooted) and to constantly tick damage. I *think* he is almost at Permadom, but needs that 4th Basilisk's Gaze to get there. My richest toon, and the first to break 100M. Soloed, and dinged 50 just last week.

10. Lucky Slice, Dual Blades/Willpower/Weapon Scrapper (Virtue) - The first toon I've taken Tough and Weave on, as I decided to do this late rather than take anything else from Weapon Mastery (boo Scrapper epics). Took Caltrops just for kicks (though I find I do use it a lot against Carnie bosses, interestingly), and for the 1.5% recovery from Tempered Readiness. The first of my toons to slot both the Miracle and Numina uniques. She seems to be really, really survivable and I will look to test her limits. Soloed, dinged 50 yesterday.

1 Armed Man, my kat/regen, has been around since Katana used the Broadsword animations. I hauled him bodily through near perma-debt until he got IH, then laughed like a maniac all the way to 49 when the famous "don't worry regen" + ED inspired me to take a vacation. After that I played CoV exclusively until I9, when my enjoyment of the market drove me back blue-side. I looked over my stable, figured it was time I had a 50, respec'ed him and polished things off. Now I'm slowly working on IO'ing him to the teeth.

Nethergoat, a fire/dark corrupter, is my level 50 villain. He finally hit the inf cap and I'm about to go on a shopping spree to purple him out. Not the world's most efficient farmer, but I have fun with him.

Big Payback is my token "gimp" 50, an AR/Dev who I retired years ago after assorted nerfs made him more of a pain than a joy to play. Eventually the game changed enough that he looked playable again, so I thought I'd take him to 50 and give him a l337 IO build just to see what kind of difference it would make. Right now he's about halfway there, with half his powers slotted the way I want and a rapidly growing 500 mil nest egg.

I have quite a few characters in the 40s and really should get my emp/elec Doctor Love to 50 one of these days, but I'm not all that goal oriented when it comes to levelling.

I had several characters which I got very close to 50 and then stopped, because before I9, there was very little to do with them, and I didn't want them to feel "retired" by having that "50" label on them.

Once I9 hit, I went nuts, and leveled characters in this order (as I recall).

American Steele (BS/Inv Scrapper) - Arguably, Steele is the closest thing I have to a main. He's my 2nd character, created in the first couple of weeks after the game went live. I love his look and his story. Invuln has had ups and downs, but IOs are presently pretty good to it, so he feels tough and powerful once again. He was not my closest character to 50 when I decided it was time to start hitting 50 on people, but I stopped playing other characters specifically to hit 50 on Steele first.

Nightfall (Dark/Dark Defender) - Created before Issue 1, for a very, very long time, this was the character people saw when they saw me playing. She was the one closest to 50 when I switched and leveled Steele. Like Steele, she's got one of my favorite backstories. It doesn't hurt that a DDD is just amazing against a lot of standard content, even with large numbers of foes. Nightfall was started with a kind of "off blaster" concept in mind long before I knew how the AT damage attributes diverged in later levels. Time has, by and large, been very good to Dark Miasma, and thus, to this character of mine. Nightfall was a favorite of mine to bring to Hamidon raids, and she was heavily equipped with HOs until inventions hit the scene. Nightfall was my first character to get a TF recipe drop (on the first time I ran the STF), and it was a Numina's unique. She was the first character I "purpled".

Fortune's Shadow (Dark/Psi Defender) - What can I say, I really like Dark Miasma. I was impressed with a Rad/Psi a friend made, but was really just too attracted to how DM played. (I made both, actually, and the Rad/Psi is level 24.) I made this character on my 2nd account around I7 or I8. She was my first character equipped with set IOs in I9, as I replaced her level 45 SOs with cheap IOs. Fortune was my 2nd purpled character, and my 1st to 500M inf, which, at the time, seemed an impossible amount of inf on hand. (Later I got both Fortune and Nightfall to 1B more or less simultaneously.) Fortune is my 2nd account "backup" hero badge collector.

Sable Slayer (Dark/Regen Scrapper) - This character, created just before I2 landed, took over a lot of my playtime from Steele. I created her simply because I wanted a no-strings-attached mez protection toggle (back then, Unyielding was Unyielding Stance, so Steele had to be rooted, TP around, or get mezzed). Little did I know how powerful Regen was, and I was hooked once I found out. I only just respecced her out of a HO-heavy build into one with purples and other IO goodies a few weeks ago - now she feels like a little DPS engine, which is a lot of fun. Sable was my first hero to the inf cap, though I got there with many villains first. Sable is my primary hero badge collector.

Shadowslip (Dark/Dark Corruptor) - See, I told you I liked Dark Miasma. Shadowslip was my 3rd villain created. This character is, in essence, Nightfall's evil twin. I mean, not literally, but almost. Nightfall didn't have a very good childhood. Shadowslip is supposed to be the incarnation of her negative emotions, making her sort of like Nightfall on a really angry day. On my villains, I gave Shadowslip the same treatment I gave Steele on heroes - she wasn't closest to 50, but I stopped leveling another character to let her get there first. Shadowslip was the first villain I seriously invested IOs in, the 2nd I got to 1B influence, the 2nd villain I "purpled" and the first I got to the inf cap.

Golden Ember (Stone/Fire Brute) - My 2nd Brute, but the one I had more fun with, Ember really had ups and downs. FA is great for most normal content, but not a great choice for trying to do things like solo big hard targets like EBs and AVs. I solo most of my content, so that made some spots kind of rough, but I really enjoyed all the non-EB/AV fights. Then IOs allowed me to get endurance under control, and Ember really took off. I find Stone Melee is wonderfully visually "SMASHy", and the buff to Healing Flames was a big deal. Ember was in the lead to be my first L50 villain, but I held her back to level Shadowslip first. For a long time, Ember was my villain money maker - it didn't matter that Ember lacked much in the wayt of AoE damage - smashing the bejesus out of things one at a time worked pretty dang well. Ember was basically tied for 2nd place in terms of villains hitting the inf cap. Ember is my "backup" villain badge collector, on my 2nd account.

Final Rest (MA/Regen Stalker) - I'm almost as bad with Regen as I am with Dark Miasma. Final was my 2nd villain created. The 1st 25-ish levels were kind of a pain, something I find often the case with Stalkers because their lower level power picks often limit their ability to build a full attack chain. However, once I hit that mark, I enjoyed the character an amount that surprised me. I think I have figured out that I'm addicted to low-HP characters that are hard to kill if played well. IOs were a big help, and I made an early build with decent melee +defense, because getting smacked while placating or assassin-striking is really annoying. I later figured out better ways to do that and now have even better melee and decent ranged/AoE defense. Final's Regen build informed what I ended up doing with Sable Slayer when she got a respec. Final was the 3rd villain I got to the inf cap.

Abyssal Frost (Ice/Dark Corruptor) - Yeah, I know. Another Dark Miasma. Created a couple of months or so into CoV's existence, Abyssal's mix of control and damage was quite addictive to me early on. She lingered in the upper 40s for a long time as I leveled and IOd out other villains, but about a year ago I sat down and burned through what was left. Abyssal is my only L50 villain I didn't hit the inf cap with, but she's the the 1st one to 1B inf and the first I "purpled". She's my main villain badge collector.

Archaidae Noir (Arachnos Widow) - I made this character at the very end of I12, and had hit 50 and earned 1B plus decent IO investment by the beginning of I14. She hit the inf cap during I15 at the same time Ember did. One of the 1st characters I leveled up from low levels since I9, this was one of the first characters I "twinked" with any IOs. I didn't go full bore, rather just going for strategic things like +recovery or +recharge single IOs that I knew would help, while slotting mostly common IOs before then. I like my characters to progress largely on their own merits, but I'm not above smoothing the road some.

It seems as if I've been playing for forever and yet I only have two 50s.

Mi Ko To was a Katana/Regen scrapper I made as a joke character (long story) and then discovered that I loved playing. The first ever AT I "got" was a stalker, so this shouldn't surprise too much. I think he was the first toon I ever looked up build advice on as well, so that probably helped. He was about say 30ish when IOs came out and managed to get some really nice ones dirt cheap. Someday maybe I'll strip those for another hero, but... maybe not. He hit 50 in the then-new RWZ and quickly got left behind; I haven't played him in so long I'd have to start again solo to get a feel for what all he's capable of.

Spin The Knife is a crazy-girl Dual-Blade/Nin stalker that I leveled up pre-stalker buffs, so I obviously liked playing her for her own sake rather than because of uber-pwnage or anything. I was in my first SG (hard for me to get an SG due to my hours) and that helped.

She tended to end a lot of her sentences with the phrase "... WITH KNIVES!!", it was her battelcry: "Ok, are we ready to take on this AV?" "I am... WITH KNIVES!!" "Hey, wanna go for some pizza?" "I like pizza... WITH KNIVES!!" "Do you ever say anything else, Spin?" "I say all sorts of things... WITH KNIVES!!" You get the idea. I know it sounds annoying, but I often got in some creative uses of it. I also had a couple of funny macros for her that then got topped off with her battle cry, such as "Hey! Aren't you the $name that dumped me last October?! It's payback time... WITH KNIVES!!" "Hey $name, let's play a teenage kissing game... WITH KNIVES!!" (those were pretty funny to pull on Dev. Earth and such) Anyways, yeah, you can see how I enjoyed myself playing her. And I'm not even an RPer.

She doesn't get played anymore either, due to altitis and a lack of direction to take her in. Someday I might sit down and give her a good respec - she has the sloppiest build ever, plus over a hundred mil in the bank thanks to a LOT of market work - which rather burned me out on marketeering. I'm hoping someday they let us email cash from one toon to another.

She was created right after the DB set came out and because so little was known about it at the time, I tended to avoid taking powers from it up until say her 30's - and yet she was still playable. She taught me to love Caltrops too... WITH KNIVES!!

Since then, I've found that I tend to drop toons somewhere in the late 30s to early 40s for any number of reasons, but altitis is a big one. I probably have about 7 to 10 I do intend to level all the way up some day, a few I even have builds laid out for. In the end I don't regret this; now whenever I feel like playing, say, an MM, I have at least two I can go to that are already pretty powerful. Plus it gives me a range of ATs to test arcs that I write.

You asked...

Chyll, Justice, Ice/Ice/Cold Blaster: My first character, and my first 50. Remains fun, and I enjoy bringing him out. Pretty much ruined controllers for me though, I was used to holding and doing blaster level damage.

Nephryte, Justice, Dark/Rad/Dark Defender: my first defender, and my second 50. Rarely break her out lately.

Inflyct, Justice, Dark/Cold/Soul Corruptor: my first villain, my only badger, and remains my favorite character to play. Redside or co-op SF? This is who I prefer to fetch.

Spectryl, Justice, Spines/Dark/Body Scrapper: my first scrapper, a ton of fun to play - feels like one long continuous nuke. Still break him out when I need to generate some quick cash.

Solyd, Justice, Invul/EM/Nrgy Mstry Tank: my first tank, and leveling him was insane fun. I think, of all tank sets I have enjoyed Invul the most. Doesn't get out much, haven't sorted him to where I would like in the IO world.

Beryllos, Justice, Fire/Rad/Fire Controller: my first controller, was for a regular SG play night team. Was fun with that group, but just a chore to play otherwise. I blame Chyll (see above). He rarely sees the light of day.

Vanysh, Justice, Son/Rad/Soul Corruptor: my second corr to hit 50 and a ton of fun to level. the son/rad combo just melted things left and right. Don't play her much... Inflyct keeps the level 50 corr limelight to himself.

Orphyn, Justice, Widow: a fun, rip through things good time but somehow less satsifying than other characters so doesn't get played much.

Dysquiet, Justice, Ill/Son/Primal Controller: playing Doms made me re-evaluate trollers a bit, and I took a stab at Illusion to be different. whoohoo fun at times. If you want me to bring a troller, this is the one that I'll get.

Ghyr, Virtue, Claws/SR/Body Scrapper: SR is a hoot. And claws is giddy fun. Creating this character and enjoying it is what caused me to go and make Orphyn (who hit 50 first, but I enjoy Ghyr more). I still break Ghyr out periodically to generate some cash for my virtue lowbies.

Horryd, Justice, Dark/DB/Nrgy Mstry Tank: most of her leveling career a concept build that focused on Fear. Late 40s respected out of the fear powers and went to town. Still fun to break out now, and does a nice job holding aggro and being dark and pointy.

Violynce, Justice, Shield/BS/Body Scrapper: my third scrapper to 50. She is fun, and with Parry in action is soft capped to all positions. chop chop chop chop

Hyposhock, Justice, Cold/Ele/Ele Defender: I liked cold so much redside that I had to make one when it came available. talk about a slow combo solo... ouch. But fun in a team, and I break him out periodically at 50 now.

Myrson, Justice, Grav/Psi/Soul Dominator: leveling this one was slow work, until the Dom revamp and then he got out to play more and more. One of the easiest characters I had solo in the 40s. Just plain stupid fun to lock them down and defeat the defenseless fools!

I feel like I'm forgetting someone...
And several in and around 40+ on Justice, Virtue, and Protector, so more coming.

City of Heroes was my first MMO, & my favorite computer game.

Claws and Effect - Claws/Regen scrapper. Not my first character, but the first I was attached enough to to switch my global name to. Has been 50 for almost 3 years now, and is completely out of regular content to run (he has completed every contact he has access to) He's in semi-retirement waiting for GR to come out. He will cross to villain side and back again just so I can see all the content. Any time something new comes out, Claws runs it first.

Marshall Stack - Sonic/Devices blaster. I wanted a blaster that soloed well, and got one...in spades. He soloed through the 30's, which is normally a rough spot for blasters, with very little difficulty. He is currently softcapped to ranged and hovers everywhere (his feet don't touch the ground unless he is planting a Trip Mine). Between my ranged defense, Siren's Song, and Screech/Taser I have gone through entire missions without taking any damage at all.

Chris Dawnslayer - BS/DA scrapper. Was almost deleted several times in the 30's and 40's, but I hung onto him because he is the counterpart to my wife's Ill/Storm troller. I'm glad I stuck with him though, as he is now softcapped and rivals Claws for the position of my toughest/most fun toon.

Return to Cinder - Fire/Fire blaster. Almost never played anymore. I'm keeping him around because I like the name, and I don't want to level him all over again. He was stalled at 48 for a long time, until I decided that if he was that close I was gonna ding 50 on him.

Halfstack - Rad/Sonic defender. In RP terms he is Marshall's brother. In game terms he is my AV/GM killing specialist. He's not too shabby in PvP either. My most recent 50, and the only one that's not a scrapper or blaster.

Pyrohemia - Fire/Regen scrapper. Not 50 yet, but in the running to be my next one. He's level 28 after 2 weeks, which for me is leveling insanely fast.

Shadestorm: 50- Nin/Nin Stalker

After taking a bots/poison MM all through CoV beta, and using my blueside time to discover I hated everything about blueside play, I was literally ready to stop supporting the army, or anyone else. I was ready for full on self sufficient play.

So, I thought about it, and decided that ninjas are awesome. Not these new flashy kids in orange track suits mind you, but the kill-30-people-in-five-seconds-and-leave-the-room-before-the-first-one's-head-hits-the-floor ninjas from my childhood in the 80s.

Drawing on my inner reserves of creative whatchamacallit, I decided that with my planned powerset, being a ninja in and of itself just wasn't awesome enough. Sure I had the neat sword and the smoke bombs and sneezy powder and whatnot, but hell, every ninja has that stuff. What I needed was a clear sense of purpose.

So, Shadestorm was theorized in a long backstory session for which the results can be summed up as:

Ninja in a bottle that only grants wishes that kill people.

Never mind that the bottle is a crystal, and that the whole backstory is a contrived excuse to use "The Last" title and eventually cross the fense to blue side (as I, like everyone else, was sure there would one day be a chance to do so.) I now had a magic shadow crature, who was also a ninja.

Awesome.

And lo, I stepped forth in to the world, and heard the snickers and laughs around me from other stalkers, and was mercilessly taunted about my gimpy powerset selection. And so I levelled with my VG, and as time passed, I began to realize why I continued to level my one and only 50.

Among all the alpha strike jockeys I had met, I was the only one capable of uttering the words "It's okay guys, I'll tank them."

For what they had missed while chasing the huge damage numbers was the inner soul of the silent killer. As pom-pom jockeys and later tar throwing zealots fell around me in droves, I simply smiled as I watched little Shadestorm execute beautifully animated executions, and simply dodge, duck, parry, confuse, and later FLIP OUT ON RETSU his way through. Sure I had to hit it a few more times, but I didn't care. I was ninja. I had a self heal and divine avalanche. I could make it.

And then IO sets happenned, and it only got better.

The moral of the story is this: I cured my alt-itis with ninja. Try Ninja. You might cure yours too.

This is pretty much the best summary of anything ever.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Báthory Erzsébet
My first and still favorite. She is a vampire as her name should tell... Elizabeth Báthory herself. A Necromancy/Dark Miasma with fly, fitness, soul mastery, teleport temp phase, stealth IO and heavy IO frankenslotted with regen and HP.

Leader and creator of the rank 11 SG on UNION, the Court of the Blood Countess.

Uebermensch
German super hero. Ubermensch with umlaut you actually have to write like UE when you cant have the umlaut. Making the toon/account Uebermensch... and his bio with umlaut. He was made on the german servers... and after transfer to union he still has a bug that makes all his server messenges german. In this case fitting.

Superman clone... Invulnerability/Super Strength tanker with fly, fitness, energy mastery (incl laser eyes), super speed

Nightseye
Ancient egyptean super hero. The living avatar of Bast. She gained her powers from teh egyptean gods like Statesman received it from the Olympian gods. Through a different medium. She is my cat-girl. Dark Melee/Super Reflexes Scrapper with super jump, fitness, dark mastery, super speed

Aludra Stellaris
This golden skinned alien police officer was enhanced to be able to breath in space and utilize the power cosmic. Hunting the mass murderer who destroyed her home-world she ended up on Earth. Her spaceship damaged and now in repair.

She was build around my idea to make a base look like a spaceship. And I am geting away witgh it mighty well. An Energy/Energy blaster with fly, fitness, force manipulation

Two, and a few honourable mentions;

Techbot ALPHA
lvl 50 Bots/Traps Technology MM

The one, the only, the technological nut with a chip on his shoulder. Alpha's been through a few build changes, and might still face a few more. On his off days he steam-rollers x5 missions (an achievement for me) and sucks at PvP Well, I didn't build him for it, and he's Bots/Traps. Meh, I say. He also duo'd Positron and Valkyrie set to AV level and +2, which I consider his crowning glory.

Chief Centurion Z1
Lvl 50 Invul/EM Technology Tanker

Respecced so many times and major retconned once, the Chief is still my one character who feels indestructable. Before the AE farm clear out, I took him on a few boss runs just as a joky test of his new build.
I came away grinning like a maniac when he laughed off purple conning hordes of Bosses.
He's been toe-to-toe with Bile, Hro'Dotz, The Honoree and some of the biggest bads in the game (Not Lord Recluse...yet) and he STILL lates the Hamidon

Krimzon Commander
Lvl 44 Crab Spider

Not 50, but my first VEAT and fun to play and RP. I still hope to one day lead an entire SG of VEATs and assorted others, but until then he still looks good and plays well. Also my closest to getting an epic to 50.

Colonel Lyndon
Lvl 44 Sword/Shield Technology Scrapper

First Shield character who I actually enjoyed playing, first high level scrapper, first of my MS raid combatants, and first character of mine to get a full set of VG armour and weaponary. Created due to messing around in AE and seeing how awesome a VG colonel looked with a sword and shield. I then went and made one He's, frankly, awesome. Still tweaking his build and doing a bit of headscratching, but hey ho.

Only two 50s here, and one only sorta counts

Rajani of the Blades is my DB/SR Scrapper. I got her to 50 on my old and defunct euro account and am currently levelling her back to 50 on my american account (she's 38 right now). She was the fifth or so character I created in this game and the first to get past level 10. Like most of my toons, her entire backstory is a simple line or two. In this case, being an avatar or aspect of Kali, Hindu goddess of destruction (and some other, nicer things).

PainJunkie is a SS/WP Brute and was an absolute blast to get to 50. I don't really take him out much nowadays, mostly because I can't be bothered to respec and IO him out. Also, I find the Rage crash much more annoying than I used to. Backstory... well, look at the name. This guy gets high on pain, both caused and suffered.

Lets see...

My first L50 was Myriad, a Storm/Energy Defender. Originally I created her as Storm/Rad in Pre-Order despite having played her as Storm/Energy in CoH beta. I didn't like */Rad that much, so I rerolled here as Storm/Energy towards the end of the exclusive Pre-Order time. Myriad was also my badger and she's still around. I play her now and then.

Aska was a Fire/Kin Controller. After 36 painfully slow levels (this was long before containment) I finally had Fulcrum Shift slotted right at L37 and started having great fun with this toon. I had Imp Army ... err Fire Imps slotted for recharge and my fulcrum shifted imp army just shredded anything that stood in it's way. It was totally worth it to experience 32+ painful levels to have all the fun that came afterwards. Actually I think I had the most fun with this toon I ever had in this game.
Aska was deleted after the big nerfs to Fire Controllers.
Recently I rerolled Aska as a Fire/Rad (with a modernized costume) and started leveling her.

Ashea was next. She was a human form Peacebringer and ok to play. After the nerfs to Quantum Flight (which was my main travel power on this toon) and because of the annoying knockback in almost all of her powers I stopped playing her.

Myriad Blue was a Dark/Energy Defender. I created her with (the old school) Hami Raids in mind. Shortly after she hit L50 we had the pet power nerfs (no more multiple Dark Servants) and I lost interest in her. In retrospective I should have created her as a Dark/Dark Defender. Maybe she would be still around then.

Myriad Frost was a Ice / Energy Blaster. It was a pleasant experience to level her, but after she hit L50 I played her less and less till I finally shelved her.

Myriad Thorn was a Spines/Regen Scrapper. The great days of regen were already past. It was still a great character that I enjoyed very much. She got replaced by a Dual Blades / Willpower Scrapper, but that was much later.

Next was Myriad Dawn, an Illusion/Rad Controller. She was really awesome although the KB from Phantasm and sometime from Phantom Army irritated me now and then. In the end she got shelved when I decided to concentrate my playtime on fewer toons.

Myriad Blaze was a Fire/Fire Tank. She was my 3rd attempt on a fire/fire tank and this time I kept interest and made it to L50. I used her to farm Rikti in the Rikti Crash Zone (before it became RWZ) to earn prestige for my solo SG.

Myriad Flame was a Fire/Fire Blaster. She started great but towards the end I was getting bored with her. I shelved her the day I hit L50 with her.

Thira is an Empathy/Electric Defender. Originally I created her on my 2nd account just to be able to invite toons to my solo SG. When I was looking for a new challenge I decided to try her. It was never easier to find a team. She is still there, but on my now inactive 2nd account.

Shadowplay was a Claws/Dark Scrapper. I was surprised how well he cut through multiple opponents and he was fun to play. Maybe someday I roll a Claws/Dark again. Shadowplay was deleted when I closed my 2nd account (I didn't intend to play him again and wanted to give the name back to the playerbase).

Kryseis was originally created when Dual Blades / Willpower was introduced. She became my favorite character very fast. Much later she was rerolled after I realized that I had wasted too many respecs on minor changes (she gets another entry further down).

When VEATs were announced I decided I wanted to try them. But I never played red side much and my highest villain was a L21 Bots/Traps MM at that time. After some experiments I finally created Nalar, a Fire/Rad Corrupter. He's still around but I rarely play him anymore.

Krysara was a Night Widow and it was nice to play her. Especially on VEAT teams
She was shelved because I preferred Scrappers and because I don't like red side very much (for me it's just blue side painted red which gives a F- for immersion factor).

Myriad Blade was created after I decided that I wanted a Scrapper as my new main but couldn't decide what primary to pick. Broadsword was the only powerset I never really tried, so she became a Broadsword / Willpower scrapper (my Kat/Regen never made it to L50 so he's missing in this list and I never liked MA). I loved the Romolus sword, but BS is a bit slow and my attack chain seemed to be the same again and again and again. DB/WP just looked better to me.

So I rerolled Kryseis as a DB/WP Scrapper (again). I have to admit that I powerleveled her in AE this time, but I think that is forgivable because I already played DB/WP (and many other powersets) through 50 levels.

I deleted most of my L50s in preparation of leaving this game entirely (too many changes I didn't like plus a general feeling of being burnt out). However, I finally decided to stay a little longer (main reason is/was the announcement of Going Rogue) but also decided that I want to stay away from altitis as much as possible in the future (kept only 2 active and 2 inactive L50s).

My current project is a Fire/Rad/Fire Controller and my next project will be a Pistols/* Blaster.

Blends, my first 50, is a spines/dark scrapper.

Imminent Violence, my second 50, is a DM/SR scrapper.

Single Drop of Rain, my first 50 villian, is EM/SR and a brute.

a lost teddy bear was next, he's a kat/wp scrapper. Really fun to play.

His bio reads "What happens when a favorite teddy bear is lost on a trip to Paragon City and he becomes the fetter for the souls of every ancient warrior lost in battle? He picks up a Katana and hilarity ensues!"

I even have several custom binds for him, changing f7 to "Teddy is ready!" and on those handful of times he was defeated, I'd hit f10 and "Teddy down! Teddy down!" got many a chuckle from teams. One of my favorites I used only when teamed with my fiance's WP/DB tank, Sharp Dressed Man.

"Notice how the wiley bear dominates with one katana while the man uses two and still fails to maintain the style and damage output the bear maintains."

Cheat Code, my Claws/SR scrapper looks like she's next in line to hit 50, sitting at 47 right now.

Revolutions of Ruin, my Warshade, has been 46 for almost a year. Working on him after Cheat Code is done.

Let Them Not Weep, my Peacebringer, has been level 2 for much longer.

and Jerusalem Thorne, my Earth/ Thorns Dom is 2 as well. Going to be my first character to Go Rogue.

My first 50 was Shadowninja, a Ninjas/Dark/Soul MM. He was a blast play. I had him at 40 before the level cap was raised and then immediately started on him again once it was. Unfortunately, hes was at a very high level when I9 came out and I still haven't gotten around to IO'ing him out yet.

My other 50 is Yellow Chaos, a Katana/SR/Body Mastery Scrapper. He's quite the powerhouse, and is able to take most EBs without taking a hit (I need to go back through these and try them again as AVs). He's has mostly common IOs with a few set bonuses scattered around as well. He also has my first and only crafted purple enhancement slotted.

Nightshade Legree - Thugs/Poison MM. Nightshade's run to 50 over a month and a half or so has set me up for a number of nasty surprises since, when my other characters run into enemy groups that Nightshade wiped the floor with and I discover that they're actually quite dangerous - Arachnoids, Rularuu and Nosferatu are three that come to mind.

I haven't really done a lot with her since hitting 50 other than a couple of SFs and Hamidon raids. The biggest change I made was finally respeccing into Stamina after running the Reichsman SF during Test. End loss was never really much of an issue since most things died really really quick... something that Reichsman definitely did not do.

Miss Fox - Claws/SR Scrapper. Took a lot longer to hit 50 since I got bored with her in the mid 30s to mid 40s - missions weren't difficult, since nothing could kill her unless I got very careless, but they took a while. Taking down every Praetorian EB on the first attempt was undeniably satisfying though. World Wide Red brightened up the last few levels though - I found Malta very fun opponents for this character.

Oddly enough both of these characters dinged 40 during AV missions, both of them have solo'd a -1 AV (Johnny Sonata's Soul and Terra respectively.) Usually I only fight EBs.

My first 50...Justice-Girl (Victory Server) a Claws/Regen Scrapper. She wasn't my first toon. And it took me 2 1/2 years to get a 50.

Her story is that of being a project of the Crey. Using Ms. Liberty DNA and some guys (I forget if it was mentioned in her bio) to create an advanced Paragon Protector. She escaped, due to having a hero complex over what they tried to get her to do, more so when she found out she was the daughter of Ms. Liberty. There's the bio in a nut shell.

She was my alagram of Wolverine/Captain America/Ms. Liberty.

Second was...Legendary (Victory Server) a Katana/Regen Scrapper. He was a Deadpool homage. While his backstory and outfit where different, there was a hint of it to be seen (in both bio and outfit). Big fans of Deadpool could usually spot that he was a homage, but he wasn't made to be an exact copy, so he was in no danger of being genericed (tucked in pants, black outfit with dark red stripe, large boots, banded gloves, tactical belt and chest detail, spiked colar, bone face mask with triangle face design, with white surfer style hair...sorry no pics).

He was later transfered to Virtue as Time-Shift, for RP purposes as a villain to my main (and name sake).

Joybuzzer was my first 50 villain. Elec/Elec Brute. Oh how I hated playing her. THis was before Elec Armor's buff. She only got to 50, after VEATS were introduced, as she was my closest to 50 (sitting at lvl 32 or 35), on a double xp weekend. I played her all that weekend, just to get her to 50.

She was a homage to the Joker, with her battle cry being "I'm the clown princess of mayhem"

Now my namesake/main is Brand-X (original spelling). If you look at my list of 50's, most of those are her...she showed up right after Dual Blades/Willpower was introduced (anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks after they arrived).

Unlike my previously mentioned 50's. She wasn't a homage at all. She was based on a character I came up with for a comic/PnP RPG, ALONG time ago.

But even back then she wasn't 100% conceptualized, as she came into being with amnesia. I finally made her, as DB/WP seemed to be the closest I'd ever get to what I wanted to make when I bought this game (A Dual Pistol wielding, super reflex/regeneration mix user).

Her story is long, and a few times retconned RPly (and in one case acted like it just never happened...brushed on the rug), for many reasons.

One, she was a telepath. Now in comics and PnP RPGs, being a telepath is all fine and good. Having a telepath in CoH is just sucky. I never godmodded, but get called it a few times for even having a telepath toon, well it got old. :P My SG knew I never godmodded (and told me so), and I went back to her being a telepath for awhile, but it wasn't the same...you just get tired of it :P

Her story keeps evolving and changing much like a comic book superhero, untill I get something that I want to stick.

She's my prefered toon to RP with. As I like her personality. And how she's evolved. Even if I haven't found that mythical AT/Powerset Combo, that keeps me playing past lvl 50.

Not counting the versions that didnt make it to 50 (due to RP or other reasons) DB/WP -> WP/EM (EM was my go to for Psi Melee untill they ruined the set for me) -> ILL/RAD -> Fire/WP -> DM/SR -> Cold/Ice Defender (this is the one that has been brushed under the rug as never happening) -> Night Widow -> DB/SR -> and currently back to using her original DB/WP (waiting on Dual Pistols).

Ill/Rad version was RPed as Telepathy (she'd telepathically make enemies feel sick, slower, see things, not see things...ect...basically everything ILL/RAD can do). I don't pull alot of these out anymore, mainly because she can't do such things anymore.

In a nutshell, she was created to be a living weapon. She's was original a scientifically created human, magically imbued with the soul of a kitsune, but due to a recent RP, that never happened, basically losing the magical aspect to her (and the foxgirl aspect, that was waiting for the foxtail...so she could take a fox-girl form...I refused to give her that outfit untill we got foxtails)...and is strictly based in science now, with her ability to manipulate time (which she keeps usually to seeing things in bullet time, allowing for high defense/accuracy/ability to hit through things that normally couldn't be by her...daggers cutting through armor plating for example).

She is my main for IOing purposes.

Harlequinn is my lvl 50 Crab. Probability manipulator who was a klutz...but it always seemed to work out for her. Not only was she a klutz, but she wasn't the brightest due to her mutation. She'd become smart whenever her powers were neautralized, and on occaission showed surprising insight/knowledge, but it wasn't very often. Loved to play her, but the loss of who I RPed her with the most, made me lose interrest in still playing her.

American-Girl lvl 50 MA/Shield. Half alien, half human, all american hero! She originaly started out as Void-Girl a MA/INV (homage to supergirl...never said she was kryptonian in the bio, but there were obvious references for any one passingly familiar with Superman)...they genericed the name by accident when they genericed her outfit. I still contend the outfit was different enough not to warrant it, but, then someone snatched the name from me, before I could get the name back (I was told the name and outfit violated marvel copyright), someone snatched it up. I renamed her American-Girl, just wasnt the same, untill I totally redid her when Shields arrived.

Tessa Darkart, lvl 50 Fire/Thermal. She was a blind (could "see" through magical means, when she focused) demon hunter from Romania. She was alot of fun and I always wanted a Fire/Thermal, but the concept lost alot, when the friend I rolled her up with, decided she didn't want to play her toon anymore (my toons sibling). Much like quite a few of my 50's...she got to 50 just to get her to 50, as the RP on her died out.

Princess Relena, lvl 50 Dark/Ice/Psy. A catgirl faerie princess vampire (who went around with a McDonalds straw, that was magically enhanced to be indestructible)! She was alot of fun to RP! Alot of people enjoyed seeing her in action in RP. Sadly, alot of people also didn't like to see her in action in RP. She was psychotic. She wasn't even quite a hero.

She was the type to put Outcasts through a wood chipper. Rip off the arm of civilian when he accidently felt her up, when he was pushed into her, when people on the tram ran in fear of her. Sang songs as she killed badguys (to the beat of known nursery rhymes or musicals...like "Over the Rainbow" became "Under the Bloodmoon"...tell you now, it's not easy to make up new words to songs that sound like they can go with the original).

She was mostly a joke toon (obviously, as she was a catgirl faerie princess turned into a vampire)...a catgirl faerie, who lived in a hidden faerie village called Jasmine (named after Disney's Alladin's Jasmine), away from humankind, who was intrigued by the humans. She would sneak off and watch them. When she was spotted by a vampire. Her blood being addicting and yummy to ANYONE who drank it (her blood was basically a psychadelic drug to anyone who tasted it), she was embraced. However, her parents wouldn't let her back into the magical city, so she found herself stuck in human world. Slowly becoming insane untill she reached the point inwhich she was introduced. Oh, how I loved to play her, and stab villains with her straw.

Lastly, Spoilsport, my Spines/DA (currently rerolled as a Spines/WP)...12 yearold dimensional vortex. HE's actually the creation of a SG friend, who wanted her off screen boyfriend to see the light of day. So he isn't even my original. But as his name suggests, he's a pain in the @@@. Lots of fun to pull out now and again and just start making an annoyance with.
