What are YOUR reasons to Switch?
Every character I have that will switch will be doing so for story related reasons.
One of the storys is already in the MA (A Nation Goes Rogue - the final fall of my first Mr England.), and Im working on a second character's one now. (the Redemption of Catwhoorgshade). Im not that big of a Role Player, but it just seems to me that falling/redmeption should be a RP thing over a metagaming thing.
Outside of the market, I have no strong red versus blue feelings, and can normallly get a redside team going if I want one.
Blueside the market provides, redside its a barren wasteland outside of the level caps for various drops. Hopefully this will be addressed somehow in GR, if it is then the only metagaming driver for me to swicth will be gone.
Catwhoorg the character, I can safely say will not fall. Even if it means that hundreds of badges are firmly out of his grasp, he will not do so.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
I have only two characters who could switch for story reasons and they would work. Both are not human and have different moral frameworks. I can see either one of them deciding to cross the line to accomplish their own goals.
I am mostly undecided though I do want to switch one of each of the kheldians and VEATs to check it out.
It depends on how the whole switching thing goes. If it is too much of a hassle then I'll start some new characters in Praetoria and let them go where they will.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
i'm switching everything to villainside because having to run oh so many tfs to get the taskforce commander accolade is stupid.
i'd rather pay 7 lowbies 2 mill each and be done with my invader acco.
Oh yeah. It didn't even take any thought from me, several of my characters have been rogues/vigilantes all along.
Darn straight. My main of mains will never fall. He's not the typical hero, but he's neither villain or rogue. |
On the plus side I believe Positron said heroes and villains who do not stray can earn special things too.

I don't intend to have any characters completely switch, I like being the hero and have no real desire to play a villain (I will probably start some villain ATs, but I'll bring them up through Pretoria and have them start as heroes). I do plan to have a few of my characters become vigilantes so I can explore the Rogue Isles but which ones do it will depend on the actual mechanics. If there's no real downside to becoming a vigilante then I'll move over my main and a couple of others who I tend to figure are already vigilantes in all but name. However if there is a significant bonus to staying true then I'll move over characters I don't care as much about (i.e. my warshade).
No, thats the Monty Python one....

I won't be switching much. Mostly, I'll be going Rogue/Vigilante in order to get more badges

Pretty much all my toons are going to be Vigilante or Rogue, because most of my character moralities are shades of gray. And I want more content available to me and more choices on where I look for teams.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

I was listening to a discussion on one of the local channels and people were talking about reasons to go Rogue. People seem to believe that Villains will all be jumping on to blue side because its better then red. Personally, I love red side more, but I will be changing factions from red to blue JUST because more people play blue. What are your personal reasons to change? Is it because of player base/ markets/ better TF/SFs or something else?

On the board, they call you a doom cryer for making such predictions.
I won't be switching. I'll make all of them rogues/vigilantes, because to me it's all shades of grey
But seriously, I think that's the way to go if you want the benefit of visiting other zones while still maintaining a "villainous/heroic" flavor.

Im not the one that said it, im just asking what peoples reasons are, not meaning to call Doom. Im just curious is all, I think it will be great to be able to switch between factions as I please, im really looking forward to this
My only reason to switch would be if any particular build of mine gets a specific advantage on the other side. In example, if brutes get access to scrapper epics after switching, I'll move most of my brutes heroside for conserve power.
I will move a Stalker over to Hero side so that I can run Posi's easier.
Very few of my characters will switch, all of them for story reasons. I play both sides already, almost equally, so there is noting that I covet from one side or the other aside from the ATs.
I have several characters that will go Vigilante or Rogue, but only one or two have the potential to go all the way over to the other side. I may wind up making a character designed to fall or redeem themselves, but most of my heroes are incorruptable, and most of my villains are irredeemable.
One thing that does bother me is that I have a few characters who are definately ATs that belong to the opposite side, but they are not Praetorian, and if I want to make them walk the proper road from character creation, I will need to start them in Praetoria. Lady Warhawk and 3 Chop Charlie are both Brutes. They are villains because they need to be Brutes to be true to themselves. With the information we currently have, in order for them to be heroes, and then the Vigilantes they should be, I need to start them in Praetoria. Same goes for Father Damien, my Necro / Thermal Mastermind.
New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
For me it's all about what do I miss redside/blueside when I'm playing blueside/redside. I'm grooming a Warshade for redside now because such a thing doesn't exist yet, and a Dominator to send blueside. I'm also considering switching a Blaster and a Mastermind around, but I'm not as committed to that idea right now as I am the Warshade and the Dominator.

Knockback is mitigation. It won't be removed just because meleers ***** and moan. - Chaos Creator
I'll only switch if it fits my story purposes. Right now I have a defender who uses a special suit to channel the energies of the netherworld onto his foes. But after using the suit for too long, the demons of the netherworld corrupt him, and force him into becoming a villain.
I don't have any preferences to either side, since they're both still the same game.

Those seeking to call you names don't really care about such details.

I will be moving nearly all my villains heroside, for one reason only. Wentworth's is much better supplied than the BM. I'm tired of trying to buy IO's, only to find none available, and last sale dates that are weeks old.
Of course, the devs could fix that little problem if they merged the markets...
People seem to believe that Villains will all be jumping on to blue side because its better then red.

Oh man that's rich!
Yeah, because running across two huge zones three times in a row just to get ONE actual combat mission is SO MUCH BETTER.
Personally, I love red side more, but I will be changing factions from red to blue JUST because more people play blue. |
What are your personal reasons to change? Is it because of player base/ markets/ better TF/SFs or something else? Cheers to all who give their reasons. |
