Why is the MA Booster Pack such poor quality?
I bought the Super Science pack because my brute discovered too late that 6' 5" is short in paragon city. I had bugged Babs for months (really a little over a year) about the Height slider in the tailor. So when it was offered, there was no way I was not buying it.
All of the packs have been more than worth 10$ to me, this is my favorite though. As for those complaining about ninja run, you have the option to purchase it just as the rest of us did. I for one like micro transactions. They allow for overtime and extra staff above and beyond what is normally there for development. I am with that. |
Haven't seen him since.
I was thrilled with the Science pack cuz I finally got payback on the creepy guy that kept trying to ERP with my tween heroine, by hitting the costume change and turning into a 10' tall monstrous escaped prisoner and telling him, "You gots a real purty mouf, now bendover and squeal like a pig fo yo daddy, cuz you my little puppy now!"

Speaking of the Super Tailor, the biggest thing for me isn't that I really NEEDED it for any of my characters (though one grew a good foot in height), but that it's there IF I need it. No more dreading character creation and trying to figure out the precise height I want to be, no more measuring and planning. I just make 'em, now, and if their height is wrong? Meh, I can always fix it.
This kind of security, the knowledge that even if I don't get everything exactly right, I can still fix it, is what I enjoy about the pack.

The natural booster ninja run power was so amazing I bought it despite having no interest in any of the pieces. I could had seen a Ninja Sprints (to match the Prestige Sprints) that did nothing sprint didnt but with a neat pose as a perfect gimic that would had no balance impact. Off course, nerfing this now is entirely out of the question after people paid for it.
I guess the only way I could be "fine" is if we end up with additional "inherent travel powers that can't be slotted" just like we ended up getting additional costume change emotes.
Off course, we didn't get alternate access to the super tailor so the line started blurring with the science pack anyways.
super-tailor was great, as I'd made a toon as an armoured type in the Huge scale, then realised I wanted at least one of the costume choices to be unarmoured...but huge body type didn't quite work for me, even with all sliders to minimum. it saved me a re-roll there. Also, I've since begun one toon who's starting as a barely-teen boy, and will eventually become if not an old man, certainly a mature adult.
edit: I agree that Ninja Run can save you a single power slot. Maybe even more if you don't find the other powers in the travel pool you'd have otherwise chosen useful. however, there's always a couple of powers I don't use that much, usually one or two I could live without (not finished my VEAT Spider yet, though...having to make some tough decisions there) so I don't think it's all that bad if you don't have it. Theoretically, with temp powers you don't need a travel power in the first place.
@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
heh, I think there was a use like that suggested for someone in the rude tell threads.

and I got to use it.
And if anyones curious, here's what she looks like. May I introduce Samantha Hain Mandrake.
And this is what she turned into the last time that guy started hitting on her.
Oh and this is her concept costume when I created her for the 2008 Halloween event. For some reason this costume didn't bother the ERPer.
Yeah, speaking of that - has it ever been adequately explained why the citizenry of PC is so tall?? My 6'1" character is quite wee compared to the paperboy! any chance of a global re-scale?

Consistent scale can be difficult to maintain, and sometimes even if it gets really bad it can be decided that the effort to fix the problem outweighs the problems scale problems cause.

@Razoras
Sexy J can't win. If he holds onto costume pieces until they meet his exceptionally high standards, everyone B*****s, moans, and whines that he isn't putting new costume pieces out fast enough. I can't count the times I've seen people say that clipping issues won't bother them, they just want "Moar stuff nao!"
Now as soon as he relents and gives us what we are constantly demanding for, people turn on him like a pack of rabid ankle-biting lap-dogs and complain about the trivial clipping issues. |
[snip] Human societies operate most effectively when subjected to enlightened benevolent control designed to protect fundamental human rights and ensuring a secure enough safety net to encourage risktaking while simultaneously giving its peoples the freedoms to take these risks and enjoy those rights. Government control is not a binary value with yes and no correlating to good and bad, or vice versa. An abundance of control is just as bad as a shortage of it. It exists as a continuum with the extremes being bad and the stable, moderate areas being good.
[snip]. |
The problem isn't always needing to be caught by the safety net that you're falling in to. It's also the needed to prevent other people from impinging on your rights. Without that, you wouldn't be given the ability to do much of anything because then you would just be subjected to the rule of the strong.
Plus, I'm rather sure you've never actually been in what would amount to a freefall into the abyss. When you or someone you are close to is actually subjected to a completely uncaring system that will allow them to continue falling forever, then I'm reasonably sure you're going to pull a complete about face on your "I'd rather fall into the abyss" comment. When a single mistake completely ruins your life, it's not a good environment to encourage any kind of risk taking. Excellent job with the Libertarian pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstaps, I-don't-need-anyone's-help-but-my-own speech, though. It's complete economic and social bupkis without any bearing on a world outside of the sheltered conceptualizations of those that the current system has never failed before and thereby never had the chance to prove its merits to. Still, you're free to believe it and continue to believe it, no matter how complete wrong it may be, without fear of repercussion thanks to the very safeguards you so adamantly rail against. |

Seriously, the MA pack is worth it for ninja run alone.
Infinity and Victory mostly
dUmb, etc.
lolz PvP anymore, Market PvP for fun and profit
Ninja run is such a ripoff, I mean it doesn't even have a unique swimming animation! I paid ten bucks and I still can't pretend to be a ninja in the water because I don't get a bamboo-snorkel!
Rabble rabble rabble!
(Waits for someone to quote the whole "Emperor's Clothes" parable and take this in yet another direction)
My two cents: Love the booster pack, haven't noticed the issues you cite, although I haven't played much with the costume pieces yet. So, poor quality? From this subjective opinion, nope. Suits me just fine.

Heck, since rescaling the world would be a bit much, just change the height markers in the character creation screen and give us all a free body respec so we can match where we're supposed to be
