Yeah, speaking of that - has it ever been adequately explained why the citizenry of PC is so tall?? My 6'1" character is quite wee compared to the paperboy! any chance of a global re-scale?

I know sometimes just playing the toon for the sake of playing them is fine but I really become more connected to toons that have a bit of story and style (or in Bully the Clown's case lack of style).

So here's my challenge/plea for help:
I need a decent story and costume for a magic spines/dark toon named Nathanial Raven. In my versions I've adjusted the head to have a very pointy chin and nose. I keep going towards the darker colors ala Dark Watcher in RWZ which is probably where I'm limiting myself. Also I have a hard time using loose clothing on a spines toon because of clipping etc but not opposed to it. Also please feel free to use the new I16 spines as I hate the Banana Man look.

Here's what I've done and don't like. Sorry for the bad color and darkness. I'm at work and only had a sec to grab the image.

Oh and for now I cure this by always running Murky Cloud lol. (I think that's the stealth power right? Sorry I have a horrible memory for names of things)
Heya So I want to give this a whirl, but I feel like I need more information. Do you have any sense of his personality and background at all, or is he totally un-fleshed out? Does he swing sort of dark and gothic, or urban prowler, or highschool jock (just kidding!)? helpy my imagintion focus to have a bit more!

    Some points of comment, though.
On the chest emblem, I'd have chosen a less bright blue to indicate light glare, unlike the suit it doesn't have much to blend with and it looks a bit out of place/faded to me.
I love how the throwing knife catches the light and causes a glowy reflection.
I think that where the torso meets the belt and goes on into the lower body, his back seems a bit dislocated, a tad too far to the right (his left). I could be wrong though, the belt pouches does distract a bit. When zoomed in, there's a slight line above the pouch, that and the shadow fade negate the point I just made
Nice subtle (but still there) bulge there, he'd probably look odd if it was totally absent

Great piece, good anatomy, consistent lighting, good colours and I like the backdrop!
Hey thanks Ghost, I appreciate you taking the time!
So yeah, the fade on the logo - I tried a new thing and colored this in layers, and the highlights layer lightens everything to the same degree, and that's just how it turned out on the logo. As for the sway-back - yes I know what you mean Part of it is scan-distortion, part of it is on purpose because I wanted him to rest a bit on that back leg, and part of it is that I was doing a kind of time trial to see how fast I could get a decent picture out; I would go back and do some tweaking if my Anal hat was on

thanks again, I appreciate stuff like this! It's great to see what faults objective parties notice, it's a great way to get better!

  5. hullo well sometimes I draw, and I got inspired to draw Proud Citizen, who in some circles is pretty famous It was unsolicited, and the hero's creator hasn't seen it yet, but just the same - here's the link, I'd love to know your thoughts!

Regarding the neighborhood aspect of your suggestion - does that mean only heroes under level 12 or so have homes in Kings Row and those over that level would need to move to a new neighborhood (Talos, then Founders Falls, then a glut of heroes moving into Peregrine Island) in order for them to have actual challenges defending their neighborhoods?

Player Housing would be nice, but I would really like to see some additional work done on Bases before adding another wrinkle into the system.
Actually, I was thinking that the neighborhood-based mishes would scale to your level. I want to be able to pick where i want my hero to live, regardless of the map's general level.

As for the Base Building priority.... hmm. I see your point In some ways I think apartments is more relevant because of the in-game mish possibilities, but then i've never been much into raiding (does that still happen?), so i am probably in the minority. But your post doesn't give me much hope for my idea being implemented :P too bad - I would love it!

Heck the other day I was playing with a guy on a trial (though he'd played before, and his bro deleted the account so no vet rewards for HIM) and we went into the Hollows. I was on my first 50, and it was hilarious becuase he was finishing up Flux's arc - and in character, ever since the Hollows opened, Retail Retali8r (my 50) has lived up in the 3rd floor apartment over where Flux *used* to stand. They moved him, she was disappointed. I flew around the windows a while, it was nostalgia
I hate that i have no clue about the programmign side, but it seems to me that a lot of SG base stuff could be used in an apt, and you'd just need new objects like a fridge and couch and tv etc. and it's sort of blah to have to march to a funny dark hole in the ground to get to your spot. and it'd be cool if you actually had to go to Flux's bldg to get "home." and if you have a home you now have a neighborhood, and wouldnt' it be cool if you got perks for activities you perform (ege fighting) while in your "beat?"

It does open up a whole new realm of content possibilities, new plot arcs, etc.

    Retail Retali8r - great name

  8. So, every hero lives somewhere, and Pargon City is full of tall buildings! My idea (part of a larger idea) is - can each of our heroes get a flat??

It would work like this - your apartment bldg would be on your map (you would select it - it would either be buyable or you'd automatically get it in either Atlas or Galaxy at the start; you could "move" later). You could go to your building entrance, and the clickable door would open, and a window would open saying "which residence do you want to go to?" and of course "Mine - apt 143" would be an option. Click on that, and you end up in your apartment, which you can decorate with stuff!

Yes, this is a QoL thing, but I would love this. And I also like that you can elect to have your Friends come over, and they could go to your bldg and select your flat, and you could hang out there.

Assuming the basic idea flies, it would need refinements, like - floorplans, affluence level, perks, etc.

Anybody else like this? have dieas for making the idea better?

  9. well, this is an idea - sort of free-forming it. if you're looking for the hypnotists spiral, might i suggest the Optic chest symbol??

I know i may be in the minority here but I am not egarly awaiting Mission Architect... I am sorely disappointed that is going to be the only feature of i14...

I was really hoping for something more... maybe i am just a little burnt out and that is making my view jaded, dont know... but I was at least hoping for some Power Proliferation at least... heck anything would do... AR for defenders or whatever...

    [/ QUOTE ]

..I agree A fun gimmick, but I'd like more plug-and-play with I14. These days I have time only to play, not to build.
  11. Nice characters! And I am all ABOUT sliders, I fine-tune the heck out of my characters. If they dont look Just So I just can't cope So much personality is in the way the face and body are put together.

Yeah, honestly, I thought they were all great costumes, and they could all be leaders in their own way.

I was also thinking maybe you don't need an active leader, but a leader like Professor Xavier. I mean, I'm not sure if there is a designated leader of the X-Men other than him, even though he's not usually in any battles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeh, this is what I'm thinking now, I think it's a great idea

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like that idea too. And jumping back to what you quoted, the prof is the official leader and then Cyclops and Storm are the Blue and Gold team leaders (not sure which one's which anymore but yeah, they each have their sub-team). So you could do Star and Plasma as your mini-team leaders and then Loom as the main man.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like this idea, thanks! Since they have similar powersets (fire) there's a sort of symmetry there as well....

Gryphon, I actually thought about making him east indian, and he may originally have been, but for some reason i picture the human's skin going lighter when they merge with a kheldian... ? lol anyways i'll have a look at it and see which i prefer.

thanks for humoring my imagination you guys

    Heya

Well, I was going to sort of "debut" myself as an artist when i had things up and running, but this thread inspired me to jump the gun a bit. Here's an (unfinished - inking isnt done, coloring's not done) sample of what I do - my namesake, Seraff:
