I can already hear the happy cries of the Roleplayers! Including me!!!
BaBs, you frickin' ROCK!
Sincerely awesome news!
Now I need to list things I plan to do with the new Walk power. 1) Walk... er... well... places... 2) Walk... umm... other... places... 3) Oh! Defiantly refuse to run away from my enemies... show them my disdain for their obvious threat by simply WALKing away. The port to the hospital will provide me with all the speed I require. 4) Roleplay taking a walk with friends... oh wait... I don't have any friends.. ummm... Roleplay walking in quiet contemplative solitude. 5) Build a new and powerful appreciation for Sprint... comparable to the appreciation I had for my travel powers when all I had was Sprint. 6) Immediately begin begging for new "Prestige Walk" emotes like Saunter, Strut, Sashay and Mosey. 7) Eagerly anticipate "Crawl." 8) Six Slot Walk with Run Speed enhancements so I look like one of those Olympic Power Walkers. 9) Bitterly complain that Inherent powers are non-enhanceable. 10) Walk like a man. Talk like a man. Walk like a man, my son. |
Different people. Now, if you really WANT animators to be poking around in the source code, we could arrange that, but I suspect the game would never compile again...

Yay!
So what happens when you're walking and get hit with Speed Boost? Super-Walking? "I think I'll take a casual stroll down to the store... at Mach 3!"
You want to know the secret of the world? It's this: Save it, and it'll repay you, every second of every day.

Walk sets your move speed to 3.09 (barring bugs) and makes your max move speed 3.09. So no amount of +speed will make you go faster because you're already at max speed.
|
This means that if one is hit with enough Slows while walking, then one would wind up going slower than 3.09.
And this is where I believe the bug is coming from where some are moving slower than 3.09 because the reduction in speed is taking them under the Max.

Looking at the Real Numbers for Walk, I don't think it sets your speed to 3.09. It certainly reduces your speed depending on your level, but to a rate faster than 3.09. But, with the Max Speed capped to 3.09, everyone, regardless of level winds up moving at the Max of 3.09.

It's a very "heels" style - can't really walk like that in flat soles, unless you're on tiptoes
|
...
What?
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

...I was rather happy to see it in Aion. Nice, relaxed saunter through a forest... then whip out the bow and start perforating something.
|
Same with many parts of COH too, although the eye candy isn't as impressive as Aion. Hovering through the vertical concrete canyon of Steel is a great way to spend five minutes en route to the tailor.

The Power Clear Mind was rooting me at some point ago, cant reproduce it now cause i respecced all my empath out of this power cause of the rooting.
I didnt see the necessary of rooting a player cause he cast clear mind on an other player, some team member of me died while i cast it on diff member sometimes while i casted it i died cause it blocked even using any other Power while the cast. And im 100% sure when i 1st made those chars that Clear Mind didnt root em that was changed somewhat in between maybe a year or such ago....... Greetings |
"Any click power that is a PBAOE ally buff, single target ally buff, or single target ally heal will root the player while activating."
Um... Actually, I very much can walk like this in flat shoes.
... What? |
Heels help the stride and sway, so while you can walk like that in running shoes or slippers or riding boots or anything else flat soled, it takes more effort

Served him right that he got bampf'd by Dark_Respite, then.
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
Walk Power - All characters will now have access to a new inherent power -- Walk! This toggle power enables characters to move at a comfortable walking pace. |
Isn't that part of a new booster pack named "Human after all"? Seriously, we don't have to pay to actually get this new power? Seeing how bad people want this, I thought that you would have considered this option... After all, you made a booster pack with a "Change my sex" power, so I guess now, everything's possible.

Now, I can casually stroll by those level 2 Hellions trying to steal the old ladies' purses!
Awesome! Even though I'm not a heavy RPer, I am an 'Immerser' and things like this just add all kinds of cool flavor. Couple questions: (sorry if they've already been answered somewhere)
1) I understand that it's a toggle, and while on, you can't jump or attack. Is that literally true? Seems to me that it'd be better if performing an attack or jump automatically turned your 'walk' toggle off, like Super-Jump turns Combat Jump off, etc... In that vein, actually getting attacked by a foe should turn it off too. Like you're instantly ready for combat once you're attacked...
I just know if none of this is the case, I'm gonna get attacked with the toggle on, try to fight back, and take a hit or two as I scramble to turn my walk toggle off haha. Even so, I like it.
2) Related: No attacks or jumping, but what about other Toggled (primarily defensive) powers. Does walking mean you're always at your most defenseless? I suppose that makes sense, sorta... If you're actually pumped and ready for combat, you really don't strut and stroll around (unless you're Clint Eastwood, of course)
3) When do we anticipate this going live? Next Issue? Or just sorta dropped in at some point?

This is awesome. Finally, my main can have that totally 'unfazed by anything' saunter he always wanted.
However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator
