Walk for your lives!
Hey BaBs.
Now that we have a walking animation, can we do away with some of the rooting in other powers that really DON'T require rooting? Or at least reduce the movement supression a bit?
Because hitting someone and going "ONE mississippi TWO mississippi THREE mississippi FOUR mississi...I CAN MOVE!" sucks.
I wonder if this is like a test for the next stage in PvP - a Zoolander-style walk off?

Although there is absolutely no connection between travel suppression and the addition of a walking animation toggle.
....hmm, i can make similarly relevant pairings as well.

Out of curiosity, when power customization was announced, did you post,

The animations are freakin' sweet, and the face the camera walk is actually IMHO superior to any alternative. It is a perfect balance for each of the body types (don't get me started on the perfection of the Female walk), and great animation overall. The only hiccup I can find is walking backwards (the cool camera facing one) while walking left/right and transitioning directly to walking backwards (diagonal backwards into straight backwards). The rest of it is so good, it hurts me to even point out that itsy bitsy hiccup, and I apologize.
TL;DR - Pure Elation (pulp-less, from Concentrate)
NCSoft will be getting no more of my money and my GW2 purchase was halted the day of the announcement. I'm a loyal and very profitable customer. I hope to return to giving them all of my money, should CoH survive.
went to check out Huge...
A little more muscle-bound arms swinging wide to the side thing.
At least your head doesn't slip down into your shoulders like the Huge run . . .
And I agree with everything SurgePoint said there.
.
It's a very "heels" style - can't really walk like that in flat soles, unless you're on tiptoes
That ones more "hulk" than "heels" |
So oh well, have to live with making sure I pick the high-heels for a walking costume.
The small female walk looks really wrong with enforcer boots... Doesn't look so bad on larger female bodies though. However, I think BaB's has said that animations aren't, and probably can't be tied to costume parts... without giving him, PhoysB, Castle, Positron, and everybody else who works on the code / design migraines the size of a former manager's ego.

And the animation also looks good on flat soles if they're on normal sized avatars.

Not sure which powers you're referring to that cause rooting, but don't really require rooting.
This post exists solely so that I may again state my elation, but also for the first time despite being around since 2005:

No real point to this. I've just never done it before. First post after a red name.
Arg... and I typed too much superfluous stuff so I lose... ;pp

Taunting Happy-Fun Red Name may result in all avatars suddenly wearing pink tutus or orange jumpsuits.
First posting after Happy-Fun Red Name may also result in unintentional costume changes and random Hamidon Spawns.

Walk looks very much awesome. I'm used to jogging around the city's streets while chatting in the global channels, and now I can actually go for a very relaxed stroll while chatting. This will really let me appreciate the zones more.
That said, if you get in a water surface while walking, you'll keep on walking on the water, which is probably not intended. Screenshot here. If you get in the water, activate walk, then swim, you swim around very nice and slow.
Edit: since you're stalking this thread, who should I nag about getting rid of the pet names over their heads? What I mean is, in Options/General/Reticle, you can disable showing the names of players and NPCs until you mouseover/select them, but there's no such option for pets, their names are always visible ruining my view of the battle.

Perhaps eventually you'll just get rid of the inherent and give 'Walk' it's own key option.

That gives you the walk toggle on the / key.

Well, you could also say you're treading water - but that's not really what they mean by treading

I laughed at the tag: "the walkin dudes cometh"
Okay, I get it - so you're not going to do a speeded-up version of Walk if SB'd, you'd still walk at the Walking pace, and unable to use or benefit from any powers or buffs.
Not really super-useful as a speed-nerf for SB, then...that makes more sense to me, thx M_I.
